“Veylor,” she whispered.
Had Oryx spoken my name?
I grabbed her breast and she threaded her hands through my hair.
Why the hell did I crave this so desperately? The fiery need to feel her searing heat enveloping my shaft, the raw desire to plunge my tongue into her mouth, consumed me entirely.
I’ve never wanted anyone as much as I wanted Oryx and here this woman was that has invaded our lives and I wanted her too.
I blinked again and found I still had her by the neck with my Magik and still pinned to the wall.
I let go and she slid down to the floor. I had never had her on the table, never touched her breast.
Damnit I wanted to.
My hand shook and I ran it over my mouth. I have never hurt a woman, never tried to kill one before either, at least not on purpose…
“I apologize.” I straightened my coat and leaned forward to give her my hand. She batted it away, which was warranted and stood back. “You struck emotions that I…”
“Men don’t like to talk about emotions, I get it. Oryx is different and needs reassurance. That is the only reason why I am here.” She massaged her throat and glared at me.
As I stood there, trying to remain composed, I held my breath to avoid the intoxicating aroma that surrounded her. My eyes drifted to her breasts that pressed against the fabric of her sweater. A surge of longing washed over me, intensifying with each passing second.
Flustered, I took a step back, discreetly positioning myself behind the table to conceal my growing arousal.
“You are brave to come here. I was in shock to find a female in his bed. A… human.” I still could not process that a human was here, but I still was not convinced she was in fact one. I would have to determine that with more research.
She straightened her skirt and slung her long hair behind her back. “If that is an apology, not accepted. Figure out how to help Oryx and just so you know, I’m not leaving. If I do leave, Oryx will come with me.”
This is when I snarl. “You are a foolish female. Do you wish to find yourself dead?”
She crossed her arms and tapped her fingers on her arm. “Somehow, I don’t see that happening.” She smirked and sauntered out of the room.
Chapter 19
Oryx
My pet emerged from the bathroom. I felt an urge to run my fingers through her hair as she settled onto my lap.
We were requested to attend a late dinner this evening. This suggests that my Lord has either been busy with work or is still trying to soothe his temper from our previous encounter.
I'm still shaken. My Lord attempted to destroy what was rightfully mine. I don't request much from him, and although he generously offers me many things, they hold little value to me. He is aware of this, and I accept them unwillingly.
All I wanted to have was companionship.
Vesper is all I ever wanted, I realized, and he wanted to take her. He had no right, even if he had created me.
“Orie, you don’t have to do this.”
I waved my hand, motioning for her to lean closer, and she willingly melted into my embrace. She settled down gracefully, the thick velvet gown cascading around her like a shimmering waterfall, a garment that my Lord had chosen for her. The rich fabric clung to her form, accentuating her beauty, though not as breathtaking as the radiant smile that lights up her face when her eyes meet my eye holes.
I never thought any creature would smile at me the way she does.
My claws ran through her hair. The brush she conveniently left in the bathroom. We have come to a routine, each night she lets me comb my claws through her hair and scratch at her scalp. She makes the pretty moaning noises that make my cock throb and press against her ass.
I’ve become obsessed with her and now that we must meet my Lord face to face, I fear that my relationship with him is over.
I am saddened by this, and my pet knows it.
