Vesper petted my snout. “Leave Benedict alone. It’s nice to have someone else to talk to as well, isn’t it Oryx?”
I huffed in annoyance and shuffled my feet. “I like you best.”
Benedict crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. “At least I keep the estate clean and orderly, unlike you,” he snapped.
I held Vesper closer to me. “I would, but my Lord wouldn’t let me!”
Benedict tapped his fingers on the table. “You were always the special one,” he mumbled. “Anyway, I went into your room to clean it while you slept and found your little friend…”
“She’s my pet! And she’s mine!” I growled and rubbed my snout against her chest. She didn’t protest and the rumble in my chest intensified.
Her thoughts liked me rubbing against her but I felt her hand push against me.
Why is this female complicated?
“I’m not his pet,” my pet chuckled nervously. “He likes to call me that. I’m his friend…”
“More than friend,” I added.
Benedict wiggled his eyebrows. “I know that now, finding you both entwined in the sheets. I’m guessing the Lord doesn’t know either.”
My pet started to say something, but I quickly placed my hand over her mouth. "I'll talk to him when I'm ready. It's wise to keep silent unless you want to risk losing your head and your cock."
He grabbed his groin and rubbed his neck. “I liked you better before. Now you are all growly and gimmie gimmie, mine mine.” He waved his hand at me. “This does make things around here a million times more interesting.”
Vesper wiggled in my grasp to be put down but I wouldn’t let her. Not with that vessel in the room. He had a cock and I wouldn’t let him near her, steal her from me.
“How so?” she asked.
Benedict shook his head. “Can’t say, you’ll find out soon enough I’m sure. Just so you are both aware, his Lordship is out for the next two days. Shopping.” Benedict winked at me.
I knew what shopping meant… he was grave robbing.
What he was making now I wasn’t sure. It better not have a cock connected to it, because I did not need another male to chase away from my female.
Chapter 14
Vesper
Iwas trying to be nice to Oryx by getting him breakfast but he was clearly in distress. He was the equivalent to the dog breed, Cavalier King Charles and needed his companion constantly. We would have to address this severe separation anxiety, because I would not have him following me into the bathroom anytime soon.
The insane part of me liked the possessiveness though. Instead of feeling overwhelming, to me it was endearing.
Why? I don't know. I’ve never had anyone fuss over me.
I managed to pull away from him and reach for the ladle hanging above the pot of blood gently heating on the stove. Ifilled a mug with it and wondered how Oryx would eat without creating a huge mess, given that the only time I'd seen him eat was when...
I shook my head, yeah, not going to relive that.
Benedict stayed back, not attempting to assist or approach me. The males in the room exchanged uneasy glances, but I decided to de-escalate the tension by acting indifferent.
I needed to soothe Oryx by letting him know that Benedict was nothing more than a… person to me. I didn’t have any warm fuzzies toward this guy, in fact I found him—odd. More odd than I did Oryx.
Why?
For starters his physique was quite different from Oryx's. He looked like… a fae from a fairy tale. Pointed ears, shoulder length white hair, which was like mine.
I’ve never seen anyone with a hair color like mine unless it was colored or they were much older. When I first saw him enter Oryx’s room this morning I was taken aback that I wasn’t the only one with my hair color. It was tied in a black bow about shoulder length to keep out of his way.
