“Lucien,” he whispered against my ear before he bit it.

My control snapped, and I slammed forward, burying my dick as deep as it would go. Ryder laughed victoriously until I repositioned our bodies so his knees pressed against his chest.

“So deep,” Ryder said. “So full.”

“Again.”

“Lucien.” This time, my name was a desperate plea I couldn’t ignore.

Drops of sweat dripped from my hair and rolled down my back as I powered in and out of Ryder’s tight, greedy ass. The way I claimed him was animalistic and primal, but it wasn’t fucking. I made love to him; I laid claim to him.

Ryder started stroking his cock in short jerking motion as I continued pegging his prostate. “Lucien!” he cried as he came all over his chest, abdomen, chin, and even his lips.

I lowered his legs then leaned over him, licking the cum off his face and thrusting harder and faster. With a grunt, I flooded the condom and continued rutting against him while Ryder’s spasming clench milked every last drop out of me. Ryder gripped the back of my neck and pulled my head down for a kiss, tasting himself on my mouth. Outside the bedroom, Ryder was a reserved man, but he had zero inhibitions once we were alone.

I carefully pulled out of Ryder but stayed in his arms, kissing and caressing him. Neither of us seemed eager to leave the bed and return to an uncertain reality.

“It felt different this time,” Ryder whispered. He could’ve meant the physical act of sex, but I knew better. Different could be good, or it could be really bad; I was afraid to find out which way he leaned. Ryder chuckled because he could read my thoughts. “Paris was the excitement of new love, but it wasn’t real. Cairo felt like a second chance, but it wasn’t real either.” I started to argue because everything we felt for each other was genuine, but Ryder stopped me with a brief kiss. “The emotions we felt for each other were authentic, but they weren’t true. How could they be with so much secrecy between us, Lucien? The truth is out in the open now, even the ugly parts, and I want you more than ever. I can tell you feel the same way.”

“What does it mean for us though?” I was afraid to hope.

“It means, I’m not giving you up again without a fight. I’m not saying one afternoon of confessions followed by amazing sex has solved anything, but it’s a start. If we’re going to fail again, it won’t be because a manipulative asshole decided we didn’t belong together. We’re going to figure this out together, and we’re going to get you out of this Banks’s evil clutches.”

“Evil clutches?” I asked, fighting off a laugh. “Are you picturing some faceless, cartoon villain?”

“Maybe,” Ryder said with a shrug.

“I assure you he’s far more dangerous,” I said, rubbing my nose alongside his. “You make me believe taking him down is possible.”

“Good,” Ryder said. “It’s time we form a game plan with this Deverish guy and Percy.” He wiggled out from under me and stood up next to the bed. “We need to get cleaned up and dressed.”

“Are you sure this is what you want to do on your day off?”

“Day off?” Ryder asked, slapping my ass. “I’m out of a job, remember?”

“Suspended with pay,” I countered.

“That won’t last long if I can’t clear my name.”

I rolled to my side and took his hand in mine. “Ry, this isn’t a spy game or an action-adventure movie. People could get hurt, and lives get ruined. Are you sure it’s something you want to get tangled in?”

Ryder scrunched up his face and took a step back, pulling free of my grip. “Don’t you want me by your side? I thought—”

“Yes, I want you by my side. I also want you going into this with your eyes wide open. I have no idea what kind of dirt Banks has on Deverish and Percy, but I’m willing to bet it’s every bit as salacious as mine.”

“Consenting adults falling in love isn’t salacious,” Ryder said.

“It’s salacious in the right hands,” I countered. “My point is, people will go to great lengths to protect themselves or people they care about. Getting the truth won’t be easy or without risk. I will not allow any more harm to come to you because of me, so if I ask you to step away from our crusade, then I want you to promise me you’ll listen.”

“I will listen,” Ryder vowed. “I’m aware I’m out of my league here.”

“I’m going to work every day to earn your trust so you’ll believe I will always find a way back to you no matter what happens.”

“I want to believe,” Ryder said, brushing the back of his hand against my cheek.

“One day at a time.”

“The first step is a strategy meeting with your partners in crime.” Ryder began walking toward the bathroom. “Spit spot, Lucky,” he said in a butchered British accent.
