“It’s, uh…” Aaron shook his head. “It’s hard to believe that neither of us realised they were basically dates.”
That made Lewis laugh. “Yeah, we were idiots.”
“Well, one of us was…” Aaron turned in his chair, knees bumping Lewis’s. Even now, after sharing a bed every night for a year and a half, that accidental touch set a frisson of excitement fizzing in his belly. He smiled. “I spent a lot of time imagining what would happen if I just reached over and kissed you.”
Lewis’s eyes darkened. “Yeah?”
“Yeah. Can you imagine?”
“I can,” Lewis said huskily. “I can imagineexactly.”
“But that would have broken rule number three, of course.”
Lewis’s eyebrow lifted. “Rule number three?”
“No sex,” Aaron said, smiling. “Remember? The first day we met, you laid down the law: confidentiality, honesty, and no sex.”
“Hmm,” Lewis hummed. “I guess two out of three isn’t bad.”
Reaching forward, he brushed his lips over Aaron’s—warm, familiar, electric. For a moment—okay a couple of moments—Aaron allowed the kiss to deepen, the heat to build, the air between them to thin as they reached for each other, urgent and awkward in the cramped space. Then Aaron pulled back, laughing.
“Okay, Casanova,” he said, catching his breath, “as much as a shag on the office carpet has its appeal, I think I’d rather take you home to our bed.”
Lewis grinned, his hungry expression transforming unexpectedly into something warm and sweet. “I still love it when you call it home.”
They’d officially started living together about a year ago, Aaron giving up his place and moving into Lewis’s gorgeous mansion flat. They’d tussled over who paid what until Aaron had put his foot down and insisted on paying his fair share. So now it was home to them both, and Aaron loved it.
“Of course it’s home,” he said, leaning in and kissing Lewis again. “It’s where you are, and that will always be home for me.”
Blinking rapidly, Lewis nodded. Then he took Aaron’s hand and stood, tugging him to his feet. “Come on then,” he said softly, brushing their lips together one more time. “Take me home.”
