He knew what she was telling him. In that moment, he understood what she wanted.
So, he did it.
“Stay for me,” he said. “I promise if you do, I’ll make sure you’re forever safe and loved. Give me a chance, and let me be your other half. I want this life with you.”
She pulled him down, found his mouth, and kissed him like he deserved.
Yeah, she found a good one.
Gabby was pretty sure of it.
As she rolled, he felt the whole world spin, and then, he felt the most miraculous of things.
She slid him into the wetness of her body.
“Oh, fuck me,” he muttered, breaking the kiss as that nearly tore him from the edge. She was warm, tight, and so wet that his body shook.
As she was perched above Finn, she stared down at him.
“If we get pregnant, I guess you’re going to have to come to grips with it. I want a family. I want a life. I want a chance to be a wife,” she said.
He couldn’t believe he’d gotten this lucky. He was going to kiss his boss for sending him out to handle this.
On.
The.
Mouth.
“I want someone who won’t abuse me, and someone who I can trust. I don’t care about the job, Finn. I’ll stay, if you promise me that you’ll never scare or hurt me. That you’ll always save me when I need you.”
He had tears in his eyes.
“It’s all I want, Gabby. I just want my person. It’s been so lonely without you. Stay and let me make you my wife and a mother.”
Oh, she knew.
“Then, let’s see what this adventure has in store for us. Let’s wing it.”
His heart skipped.
“Okay, mo ghràdh.”
She was curious.
“I don’t know what that means, but it sounds really pretty,” she said.
He smiled.
“It means ‘My Love’ in Scottish,” he admitted, smiling up at her in joy.
She needed him to know.
“Do you love me?” she asked. “Because I love you,” she admitted. “You’re a very sneaky man, Detective Inspector McKnight. It seems you stole my heart. Get the handcuffs.”
He laughed.
“Now, mo ghràdh? While you’re sitting on my dick? I have something else to worry about other than handcuffs, but if that’s your kink, sign me up for that too. I’ll find a pair and make that happen.”
She laughed, and he caught her off guard, rolling and trapping her smaller body beneath his. That’s when he began moving, taking her.
She moaned.
“Oh, Gabby,” he muttered, his hips in charge, but his control slipping.
He was hitting that one spot over and over again, and the whole time, her body hugged his, pulling pleasure from their mating.
“Oh, fuck, but you feel amazing,” he muttered. “I’m not lasting long. It’s been a while,” he admitted, as his body shook.
When he changed the angle, making sure he was rubbing against her clit, she couldn’t hold on any longer. She came.
HARD.
Finn fought to hold out, but he hadn’t cum yet. She was KILLING him.
His balls were screaming for release, his whole body was balanced on that precipice, and he knew this might just kill him.
As he rolled, Finn craved seeing her body above him, so he could enjoy the view.
The waterfall was nice.
But she was spectacular.
As she focused, he was still buried in her, and he was rock hard. She could feel him throbbing.
“Someone still hasn’t cum,” she said.
He laughed.
“And it’s killing me. Trust me.”
The mere thought that she’d let him cum in her, and that they could start a whole world together?
A family?
It was making him struggle. He wanted that more than anything.
Finn wanted a chance to be a father, and a husband.
He wanted her.
“How about I take care of that?” she teased, grinding down on him, and making him whimper in pleasure.
“Please, mo ghràdh, please,” he begged. “I want to cum in you in the worst way to make you mine.”
She wanted that too.
That was all she had to hear.
Moving, she watched his eyes go blind with pleasure, as his body shook.
He was spectacular.
Finn’s entire body was perfect, and she could get accustomed to this.
What woman couldn’t?
As she began moving, he sat up to hold her in his arms. She was rubbing against his body, and he was so close. It took all he had to hold on.
“One more,” he muttered, refusing to slip until they came together.
He wanted to take that tumble with her. There was never a person she felt more comfortable with than this man.
He was her person.
There was no doubt about that.
As she ground down, he moaned.
“Gabby, Baby, I’m going to cum. I can’t hold on much longer,” he whispered, that control shattering. It was too late.
Finn was done.
“Cum for me, Baby! Cum!” he hissed, and then broke apart.
As soon as she felt that wet heat fill her, Gabby fell, and they both tumbled through the pleasure.
Somehow, he caught her and rolled, making sure she was protectively placed beside him.
As she opened her eyes, he was watching her.
“Hey,” he said, brushing a curl from her face. “That was amazing,” he said, grabbing his shirt because he saw she was chilly.
The sun was almost down.
Gabby slipped her leg between his, and cuddled into his body.
“Thank you for that,” she said, meaning the sex.
He didn’t think she meant that.
“You looked cold. It was the least I could do for you, Gabriella.”
She giggled.
“I meant to orgasms, but the shirt smells like you, and I’ll take it,” she admitted.
He smiled.
Yes, this woman made him happy.
“Well, it was my pleasure,” he admitted.
Gabby was curious.
“Can I ask you something?”
He got serious.
As they cuddled, he knew they had to have a conversation.
“I think we should talk,” he said.
She lifted a brow.
“Uh-oh.”
He reassured her.
“I mean, my cum is in you, and I guess we should face the reality of it all. We could have just made an us. I’m curious.”
She wasn’t sure where he was going with it, but she hoped it wasn’t over between them.
“About?” she asked, hesitantly.
Finn went there.
Oh, and boy did he ever surprise her.
“How many kids would you want?” he asked. “Since, again, we might have just made one.”
Oh, was that it?
She relaxed.
“I’m an only child, so I don’t know. Twelve?” she joked.
When he didn’t laugh, she looked over.
“What?” she asked, afraid she’d upset him. She’d only been kidding.
“We can’t stay in my home then. It’s a two-bedroom cottage. I have to find us a house.”
That amused her.
And chilled her right out.
“I was kidding. That’s a hella lot of kids. My uterus hurts thinking about it. I think two children are a good number. Three is fine. I’m young still.”
He asked.
Because he didn’t know.
“How old are you?” he inquired, realizing they were doing this whole relationship backward.
And he liked it.
It was like an adventure where he got the prize first, and learned everything about her after the fact.
“Thirty.”
He grinned.
“Oh, I caught me a younger lass,” he said, winking. “I’m halfway to forty.”
She didn’t miss a beat.
“Well, thank God you still can move your hips like that, old man.”
He laughed.
His lass amused him to no end.
When he picked a pretty flower that was blooming, he tucked it into her hair.
“Heather,” he said. “It’s early for it yet, but some years we get it right after the thaw. It’s appropriate since it’s your middle name. I think it was meant to be.”
She ran her fingers across his abs.
“Do you regret moving quickly with me?” she asked, genuinely curious.
He shook his head.
“Not in the least. I did it the other way with my ex, and we all know how that worked out. A longer courtship doesn’t always mean it’s better. I’m happier now with you than I’ve ever been in my life.”
She was glad.
Now, since they were talking, he was curious.
“When are you going to tell me more about your ex-husband?”
She shrugged.
“What do you want to know?”
“Is he dead in a ditch somewhere for putting his hands on you? Because I can make that happen if I ever see him or he comes near you.”
That amused her.
“No, he works for a thinktank out West. I think he’s engaged to a blonde who looks like Barbie. Remember, I was too fat for him.”
He lifted a brow.
“Stop saying that, Gabriella. You’re anything but fat. You’re curvy, and I had to fight for my fucking life not to cum the second I was in you. Trust me. A man that’s checking out your weight while having sex isn’t a real man. Most of us are thinking about a woman’s tits.”
She snorted.
Well, that was reassuring.
“Thank you for that.”
He nuzzled her.
“I love you. I don’t know how, but I know that you’re meant to be mine. I’m going to say this, and don’t hit me for being forward, but it’s the truth, and I promise to always give you that.”
She waited.
“I hope you’re carrying my child. Then, when I tell you we have to get married, you won’t say no.”
She clued him in.
“I wouldn’t marry a man because I’m with child, Finn,” she said.
The second she said that, he looked upset. It was clear that rattled him to his core.
“Oh.”
She stopped him.
“I’d marry him if I loved him, and if he asked. One is necessity. The other is a circumstance. I can raise a child alone. I just don’t want you to be upset if I’m horrible as a partner.”
He knew why she’d say that.
Her.
Ex-husband.
Damn him to Hell.
He’d taken a beautiful woman and broke her down for his whims. He deserved a good kick in the arse.
“You won’t be a horrible partner. You’ll be MY partner, and I don’t have lofty expectations. The only thing I want is honesty, faith, and to know you’ll never walk away. You’ll fight for us.”
She ran her fingers over his five o’clock shadow.
“Oddly, I want the same thing.”
Well, then, they were on the same page.
Because it was the big, pink elephant in the field, he went there.
“What are you going to do about your job?” he asked.
Honestly, she wasn’t sure.
“I guess I’m quitting. How do you feel about supporting me, so I don’t have to go to work on the dark web selling secrets to buy us a mansion?”
He stared.
“Wait. In that mansion fantasy, do I get to retire in the scenario so we can spend all day naked?” he asked, amused.
She grinned at him.
“I mean, I could use a house husband to service my needs and make me happy in bed.”
He rolled, placing her beneath him.
“You don’t say,” he said, biting her on the neck.
She laughed and giggled because she loved his playful side.
It was sexy.
“I’ll talk to Elizabeth and tender my resignation. IF you’re serious about us.”
He needed to know.
“Are you the least bit afraid that we’re moving too fast and I’m not the right guy?” he asked.
That was an interesting question.
In all of her years dating, she never thought she’d jump into a relationship this fast, and not want to look back.
Only, she knew.
He was the one.
“I think I knew when you caught me before I fell into the crypt.”
It was time to come clean.
“Last night, Finn, I had a dream.”
He waited.
“In it, I found Ceit’s grave, and then I was lured to the cliff. Something shoved me off, and I was going to fall to my death.”
He couldn’t believe it.
What the hell was going on?
He had the same dream.
Continuing, she caught him off guard even more.
“In the dream, you saved me, and were my valiant knight. Your last name.”
Oh, holy shit.
“Gabby, I have to tell you something,” he admitted. “Please don’t freak out.”
Honestly, she wasn’t sure what she would freak out about, but she let him tell her.
“I had a similar dream last night. No matter how many times I woke up, it was me saving you from that cliff. You told me you were my wife, and to protect you.”
Oh.
Boy.
When she didn’t speak, he was nervous she was going to ditch him and run for a higher ground, where there was sanity.
Only, she didn’t.
“Finn, I’m beginning to believe that something wants to hurt me,” she said, getting serious.
FAST.
Yeah, well, he was thinking the same thing. He had been since the bookcase fell nearly crushing her.
“Something shoved me, and I almost fell into that crypt, and then being pulled down in the water, and now the bookshelf. I think it’s gunning for me.”
While he didn’t believe in ghosts before, he was believing in them now.
And he was worried.
“This feels like I’m the target because whoever hurt Ceit doesn’t like women. I think I’m in danger.”
His panic levels went through the roof. He was thinking about how he’d just cum in her, and possibly made a life, and now, something wanted to take hers.
Oh.
Fuck.
No.
Not on his watch.
Not only did they have to figure this out, but he had to ensure she was safe.
“I’m going to say something, and don’t take it wrong,” he said.
“What?”
He went there.
“I want you to sleep near me. I don’t want you to be alone.
I don’t like any of this. I’m concerned, Gabriella.
I don’t buy into crazy ghost nonsense, but we all heard that voice at Ceit’s grave, and I watched that shelf be pushed.
There was no wind, and everything was on it for a long ass time.
It opted to fall just then? If that’s not bad enough, I heard the voice in the water, and it said one thing to me.
‘Punishment’ . Something bad is going on here. ”
Yep.
She was worried.
“The journal saying the castle is haunted…I think opening the crypt set something free. I think it stirred the evil back up, and then add bringing Ceit back into the castle…”
Oh, he got it.
Only, he hoped that wasn’t the case.
“Then, we had better get our shit together and figure out this next part of the mystery. You said Gryphen and Ian got the first part handled, so maybe we need to read over those letters and figure this out. Maybe we need to find out who this shadow is, and if he killed Ceit.”
She agreed.
“Now?” she asked.
He lifted a brow.
Well, his erection was telling him that work could wait a few minutes. Making love to her again couldn’t.
“Have you ever skinny dipped in really cold water and made love under a waterfall?”
She blinked.
At first, he thought she’d say no. God knew Rosie had for so many adventures he brought up.
Oh, but not his sweet Gabby.
“No. Is that an option?” she asked. “Can we do it now?”
Was it an option?
Hell.
Yes.
Finn could make that happen. Scooping her up, he tossed her over his very naked shoulder and ran them down to the water. When he got there, he was grateful it was warmer than the lake had been.
Then, he dove in, taking them both under the spray of water. When they came back up on the other side, he kept her warm.
And filled her again.
Because now, he had another mission.
Finn McKnight had to keep the lady alive and safe, so he could make her his wife.
And the mother of all of his children.
