Page 56 of The One You Want
She smiled, hoping to ease his mind and erase the concern in his eyes. “Just know that I’m really happy to be with you. I’mlooking forward to less Marc and Maggie and more me and you.”
That brought his smile back. “I really like the sound of that.”
She stood with him and gave him a quick kiss. “Then I’ll see you soon.” She stepped back, but he pulled her close and kissed her again, showing her how much he wanted her. She didn’t need the reminder. She felt it between them, even when they weren’t together. Since she’d met him, she’d felt the pull deep inside her.
Gray set her away and stared down at her, his hands on her shoulders. “Have fun tonight.”
“Get some rest. You look tired.” She brushed her hand over his scruffy jaw, liking the feel and look of his beard stubble.
“I’ve got nothing better to do without you around.” He opened her car door for her. “Drive safe.”
“I will. And whatever happens with Marc when you see him, just know you did the right thing sending his dad to check on him.”
“You’re probably right about the stress of the wedding getting to him and Maggie.”
“I can’t wait to see them say their I dos.”
“After Saturday, I can have you all to myself.”
“I look forward to it.” She slipped into her car and waved good-bye to him. She drove out of the lot and headed back to her hometown, where she still had a lot of unfinished business. Including telling her best friend that she’d slept with her fiancé.
Gray would understand. She’d basically already told him about her night with Marc.
The news would probably shock Maggie at first, but then she’d understand it happened long before Maggie met Marc.
There was nothing between Rose and Marc now.
Marc and Maggie loved each other and belonged together.
Maggie had nothing to worry about, especially since Rose had fallen hard and fast for Gray.
Still, Rose worried this could all blow up in her face.
