W e were on the road at the ass crack of dawn.

Logan and Seth had both fallen asleep a few minutes into the drive, with him in his smallest form curled between her shirt and sweater like a baby bump.

I chose the southern route toward Salt Lake City, just for the comfort of moving further west immediately instead of having to go north first. I’d checked the map before we left, figuring we’d stop in Eagle in a couple of hours for a big breakfast and try to make the rest of that first stretch before stopping again.

The road and the quiet was always the perfect time to ruminate, and fuck if I didn’t have a hell of a lot to think about. My brother had it bad for Logan. He was in so much deeper than I’d expected. Seeing his reactions, the level of care and reverence when he touched her…

Fuck.

It had been meant as a game when I’d only thought he wanted to fuck her.

Things got more complicated when feelings of that level were involved.

Not to mention the fact that he got Logan revved up.

I wasn’t sure about all of the feelings on her side, but she definitely wasn’t opposed to the idea of fucking him.

Every time he’d touched her, her cunt had pulsed around my fingers.

I sighed and adjusted my hold on the steering wheel.

The roads were twisty and isolated through the Rockies, and it was full of gorgeous views, but I couldn’t properly appreciate it.

I reached over and took Logan’s hand. Her eyes opened briefly and she gave me a sleepy smile, lacing her fingers with mine.

I didn’t doubt that she loved me. Nothing about how she behaved toward me had changed—no withdrawing, no hesitating when we touched.

She was the same. The only issue, or maybe it wasn’t even an issue, was that she was opening up to Seth too.

I’d never been good at sharing and had certainly never been on board with the concept.

It was shoved to the forefront of my mind after last night, though.

Would Seth getting involved help things or hurt them in the long run?

I couldn’t be sure, but I wanted Logan to have everything she desired in life.

Seth and I weren’t from a wealthy legacy shifter family.

All I had to offer her was myself. Luckily, she’d never asked for more.

She still wasn’t asking now. I appreciated that she put me in the metaphorical driver’s seat for this situation and so far seemed more than willing to let me acclimate at my own pace.

The idea of Seth and Logan without me made me queasy. I liked our game. I liked being in control. Having Logan follow my lead and Seth bend to the rules even when he didn’t want to was an intoxicating power trip even more intense than having Logan fully surrender to me.

I pulled the car over before we reached our first stop and put a hand on the Seth bump under Logan’s sweater. He popped up with a mrp , looking like an alien trying to burst out of her. He wriggled his head out from the bottom hem and looked over at me.

Get dressed. We’re almost there.

He stretched leisurely, and his feet digging into her belly had Logan protesting as she woke.

“Get your little toothpick feet out of my liver.” Logan squawked as Seth hopped off her and into the back seat. She hoisted her seat into a sitting position to give Seth room and leaned over to kiss me. “How was the drive?”

“Easy enough. I’m very ready for food.”

Her stomach growled as if on cue.

Seth leaned through the front seats, half-dressed, and set his chin on Logan’s shoulder. “I’m starving.”

I waited for the spike of jealousy, for the stop fucking touching her vibes to hit me in the face. But they didn’t...

That was something for future me to deal with.

I started up the car. “Seat belts on.”

I took off harder than necessary, and Seth let out an oof as he hit the back seat, hastily buckling himself in.

We pulled into a diner a few minutes later, showing up right as it opened. Once coffee, pancakes, and breakfast burritos were on the way, we settled into our booth. Logan cuddled up to my side and I laid my arm over the back of the booth to wrap around her.

“I can drive for a while when we get going again,” she said.

“That works. We can switch off after we get past the Utah border.”

“Should I book us a place for tonight in Portland or outside the city again?” asked Seth.

“Something off the interstate,” I said. “We’ll go into the city tomorrow and see what we can find for information.”

My phone pinged and I pulled it out, seeing a notification from the shifter forums.

You could talk to Melinda Kyle in Hood River. She has a metaphysical shop there. She’d probably be able to help.

They included the number and address for the shop and I looked it up, turning the phone for Logan.

“Oh, her store is so cute!”

The server brought our plates and we tucked into the food while Logan flipped through the pages on the shop’s website.

“There’s a contact page. Should I let her know we’re coming?” she asked.

I nodded and took a bite of my burrito. Probably a good idea.

Another benefit of telepathy was being able to stuff my face while talking.

Logan tapped away on my phone and grinned. “Sent!”

“I haven’t met an omega witch in decades,” said Seth. “They’re kinda spooky.”

“Spooky how?” Logan asked between gulps of coffee.

“They’ve got that thousand-yard stare, like they’re looking right through you. Not all the time, of course. They tend to tone it down for the normies, but it’s wild when they reveal themselves.”

“I hope she can help us. I’d like to go back home at some point.”

I pressed a kiss to Logan’s temple. “I hope so, too.”

I wasn’t eager to be back on the road, but we finished up as quickly as we could and I settled into the passenger seat, Logan taking over. Seth shifted into his small form and set a questioning paw on my leg, looking up at me with wide eyes.

Lap?

I scooped him over. I hadn’t held him like this for decades.

He started purring instantly and rubbed his head against my chest. Logan reached over and gave him a few ear scratches before pulling out of the parking lot.

Seth was out like a light before we even made it onto the interstate.

I cradled him with one ankle crossed over my knee and a hand around his back.

“You two are really cute,” Logan whispered.

“He hasn’t done this since he was young.” I braced my other hand on the back of Logan’s neck, lightly teasing her skin with my fingertips as she drove. “I’ve missed it.”

“I imagine last night got him more comfortable with both of us.”

I snorted. “That’s one way of putting it.”

“Are you still okay with it?”

“Pretty sure, yeah. I expected not to be.”

“I definitely expected you not to be.” She gave a little smile but kept her eyes on the road.

“Look, we both know I have one weakness in this world and that’s you. If he makes you happy, I’ll step?—”

“Don’t you fucking dare finish that sentence. You make me happy. I love you and you’re fucking stuck with me, buddy.”

My sudden burst of laughter jostled Seth out of his sleep. I patted his side until he curled up and settled down. “I like being stuck with you.”

She reached over and gave my thigh a squeeze. “I’m glad you’re okay with it. At least as okay as you can be. I’m going to try to contact Hecate again when we’re settled in Oregon. I need more information about some things she told me.”

“What kind of information?”

“I want to get some clarity before I tell you. I mean, I have a pretty good inkling given recent developments, but I was too chickenshit to say it at the time.”

“Clarify,” I said, tightening my fingers a bit on the back of her neck.

“Hecate told me she was sending gifts .”

My spine stiffened. “What kind of gifts?”

“All I know is that she said she brought you to me, that she brought Seth, and that she’s bringing others.”

I sat with the information. I’d always assumed that some sort of divinity had led Seth and me to find Logan when we’d been injured. Had Seth chosen us to come to when he ran from the entity, despite our rocky relationship, because a goddess had prompted him?

Who the fuck else was coming?

Were they all going to fall for her?

Where the hell did that leave me?

“You’re being too quiet,” she said. “It’s freaking me out.”

“I’m not sure what I’d say.”

“I just want you to know that whatever the gods plan for me, I love you and that’s never going to change.”

I traced my thumb down the curve of her throat. “I don’t think it’s possible for me to stop loving you.”

Logan grabbed my hand and set it firmly on her thigh. “Then it’s settled. We’re stuck with each other no matter what.”
