Chapter Two

I felt lips gently caress the side of my mouth. I smelled coffee. I smiled. As I opened my eyes, Lauren stood by the side of the bed in a gray pin-striped skirt and a white tailored shirt. I rolled to my side, placing my hand on her outer thigh.

“Good morning,” she said standing upright. “I brought you coffee.”

I shuffled up the bed and reached for my coffee. I took a sip as Lauren sat on the edge of the bed.

“Mackenzie, if there was something wrong, you would tell me, wouldn’t you?” she asked, her brow was furrowed in question.

“Of course, why do you ask?” I sipped the hot coffee and winced as it burned my lip.

She cocked her head to one side. “Because you’ve been up half the night, and that’s becoming a regular thing. I worry about you.” She reached out to hold my hand.

I contained the sigh that might give her more reason to worry. “I have phases where I don’t sleep too well, that’s all.” The lie left my lips way too easily and felt uncomfortable. Lying to Lauren had never been my intent, but I needed something positive to tell before I said anything.

More importantly, I didn’t want to add to her worries. She had her brother to think about. I placed the coffee on the side, pushed back the sheet and as Lauren stood, I slid from the bed. I wrapped my arms around her, inhaling her fresh scent.

“I can’t smell me,” I whispered, as I nuzzled the side of her neck.

“Then I guess I passed the, I can wash myself well test,” she replied with a sassy kick to her voice. “Do you want to see how well you score? Because right now, all I can smell is me and it’s rather nauseating.”

I laughed out loud, loving her banter. “Baby, you could never smell bad, although, I prefer the taste of you.” It was her turn to laugh and the slight blush that came to her cheeks had my stomach tighten in want. I checked my watch.

“No time, go shower,” she said, dampening my emerging erection .

I wrapped my hand around my cock. “Guess I just have to play with this myself,” I said, as I walked to the bathroom.

“Oh, fuck!” I heard. I also heard the rustle of clothes as she stripped to join me.

Fuck … it was my favorite word and I loved the way it dripped from her mouth, a mouth I was about to feel wrapped around my cock as she knelt under the jets of water to suck me.

I threaded my fingers through her hair and tightened that grip in response to her fingers running over my balls.

She really had no idea what she did to me.

My stomach flipped constantly and my heart raced.

The smell of her, the sounds she made, her caress was the ignition to my fuse and never failed to set me alight.

I parted my legs slightly, lowering myself so I could hold her head.

I needed to fuck her mouth, to feel the saliva build and see her eyes water.

I needed to know that I filled her, and the point when she’d look up at me with lust in her eyes would be my undoing.

Then I came and she didn’t blink as she swallowed down my offering.

She was a goddess to me and I wanted to shed a tear myself. She overwhelmed me.

Lauren smiled shyly, as she often did after sex.

She had re-dressed and was drying her hair.

I sat on the edge of the bed, tying my shoelaces and watching her.

When she was done, she stood. She walked and placed herself between my parted legs, I wrapped my arms around her waist. She leaned down to kiss me, such a gentle kiss yet filled with such love and passion.

“I know something is worrying you, and it’s okay. You’ll tell me when you’re ready, but just know that I’m here always,” she whispered. I looked into her eyes and I gently nodded.

She kissed my forehead and stepped back to pick up an overnight bag she’d packed earlier. “I think we need to go.”

Waiting on the front drive was a car I’d rented.

The five-hour journey in one of the Astons wouldn’t have been comfortable.

As much as I loved the cars, they weren’t necessarily built for distance driving.

Instead, a black and chrome Bentley Continental GT sat there.

The dealership had allowed me to use the car for a week, to see if I enjoyed it enough to buy it.

“Oh, this is nice,” Lauren said, as I held open the passenger door for her. She slid onto the black cross-stitched leather seat and ran her hand over the ebony dashboard. I closed her door, satisfied with the clunk.

I sat in the driver’s seat for a little while, running my hands over the leather steering wheel, getting a feel for where everything was. I gave Lauren a wink as I started the car, her laugh always lifted me .

“You and your toys,” she said, chuckling. “Although I very much approve of this one.”

“I wonder if I can fuck you in that seat?” I mumbled, as I turned the car around and headed for the gates.

“I’m sure we’ll have plenty of opportunity to try,” she retorted, knowing full well my cock would harden at her playfulness. She settled back in her seat with a laugh, and I adjusted myself to a more comfortable position.

We stopped once to refuel and stretch our legs before pulling into a drive-thru coffee store and grabbing the all-important nectar to keep me awake.

My stomach rumbled, reminding me I hadn’t eaten, so I added a couple of croissants to the order.

Instead of continuing our journey, I pulled into a parking space to eat.

“I wonder how Gabriella is this morning,” I asked.

Lauren chuckled. “Exhausted, I imagine. She’s going to be an amazing mother.” She sighed and I knew exactly what that sigh meant. I reached over to take her hand in mine.

We ate the pastries in silence and then sipped on coffee. She opened the car door and stood outside to brush crumbs from her chest, and I chuckled.

“Are you eyeing me up?” she said, laughing.

“No, but I am watching you touch your breasts,” I said .

“You are impossible,” she replied, and then climbed back in the car.

She checked her phone for any messages and I started the car. “Seems like Seb had a comfortable night,” she said, smiling at me.

“That’s good to know,” I replied, my heart missed a beat. I wasn’t as convinced as she was that he’d pull through this time.

Although Sebastian was left with multiple problems after his accident, it appeared heart failure seemed to be the one that would shorten his life.

It had been discovered when he was on the operating table, repairing his broken body, he had a heart defect, something that had lain undetected for years.

It was another blow to his frail body and yet, Lauren and her mom had stayed upbeat.

He’s gotten this far, Mackenzie, he’ll beat this, I remember her saying, as if the heart failure was something one came back from.

“Oh, look! Oh, you can’t, I’ll show you later,” Lauren said, smiling at her phone.

“Look at what?” I asked.

“Some more pictures of Dominic,” she said.

She angled her phone in different directions and stared for ages, I smiled at her oohhs and aahhs. “He’s utterly gorgeous,” she’d said. “But then, with those two, he was never just going to be ordinary.”

Even I had to admit, Alex and Gabriella were a good-looking couple.

We hit the highway and I put my foot down. I loved the car and I would certainly be telling the salesman I wanted one.

“I think we’ll get two of these, one for me and one for you,” I said, knowing Lauren wasn’t a driver.

“You mean, two for you,” she said.

“I can’t make my mind up. I’d like a soft and a hardtop.”

Lauren rolled her eyes. “Then we’re going to need a bigger garage,” she laughed as she spoke.

“I wanted to talk to you about that. How do you feel about maybe moving out of London?”

She turned to face me. “What’s brought that on?”

“I don’t know. Our time back home, I guess. I long for some quiet and maybe the feel of sand beneath our feet a little more often,” I said, keeping my eye on the road, more so the damn speed cameras.

“What about work?”

“We can keep an apartment near the offices and commute. Maybe weekdays in London, weekends by the coast.”

“It’s certainly tempting. We might not need the apartment, there is some great coastline in Kent and Sussex,” she said.

Lauren ran, successfully, one of my businesses.

One of my more lucrative businesses that had some highly sought after and prized government contracts.

Alex and I had initially secured the renewal of those contracts when I’d bought the company, but it had been Lauren’s charm with certain members of the government that had kept them going and added more.

Not only did the company supply communications equipment for the Royal Navy, but also the Army and a department we were never allowed to know the name of.

During the time that she had taken over Trymast, not only had the company grown, but so had she. I was in awe of my wife sometimes. Marrying her had absolutely been the pinnacle of my life and the best decision ever.

We chatted about work and whether to book a vacation or not. We, technically, hadn’t had a honeymoon and I was eager for some alone time with Lauren. We talked about her mom and Seb, and finally we found ourselves along the Atlantic Highway.

“I love this part of the world,” Lauren said, opening her window a little to allow the sea air to blow through.

“Maybe a holiday home here,” I offered. “That way, you’re close to your mom,” I added.

“That sounds like a great idea. It’s taken us, what, five hours to get here. It’s a doable journey each weekend,” she replied.

We headed off the main roads and cut through the country lanes until we came to the village her mom lived in. I pulled onto her driveway and before we could open the car doors, Elaine was out her front door.

“Lauren, Mackenzie,” she called out, smiling and holding out her arms. Lauren ran into her embrace and Elaine rocked them both from one foot to the other.
