"I said I won't do the deal, and I don't like repeating myself. Find another sap to make the deal. To be honest, your offer is quite offensive and insulting, Mr. Wallace." I pull out the Cuban Cohiba cigar from my inside pocket and light it while I wait for this asshole's rebuttal.
I don't smoke often, but I do have the occasional cigar when I'm dealing with businessmen who have no business doing what they're doing.
I'd put a bullet in his head, and every other asshole just like him if I could, but then there would be way too many dead bodies to hide.
So, killing my lungs is the next best thing, I guess.
I take a few puffs of my cigar, blowing it out in Wallace's face. I've already insulted him by not offering the man one, but I don't give a shit. He coughs and sputters, waving his hand in front of his face to clear the smoke.
"Mr. Falcon—if you could at least look at the product, I'm sure you will see that it's worth every penny." Wallace pulls out a handkerchief and wipes the sweat beading on his overly large forehead.
I study him momentarily while deciding how to respond. I give him a condescending smile, but I don't think he sees it as one because he returns it with a pleased one.
"Tell you what, Mr. Wallace; I'll give you two choices—only two—and you can decide which one would be in your best interest. How does that sound?" I take another drag off my cigar and blow out the smoke.
Wallace surveys his surroundings, looking between me and the seven men I brought with me.
My eyes fall on Joey beside me, and he smirks.
Although we usually can tell what the other one's thinking for the most part, Joey doesn't know exactly what I'm about to offer.
However, he knows that either way, we are leaving here with this gun shipment no matter what.
Finally finding his voice, Wallace asks, "What are my two choices, Mr. Falcon?"
"Ah, I thought you'd never ask!" I say facetiously before answering, "Your first choice would be to lower the price by one million.
If you ask me, that would be the wisest choice.
Your second choice would be to have me look over the product, and when I find it lacking as I already know it is, then I'll have my guy, here,"—nodding toward Joey—"put a bullet right between your eyes or your gut—I'll let you choose the spot because I'm nice like that. "
As if the man's dick has grown ten inches standing here, Wallace straightens and goes to close the doors to the van, holding my weapons, as he balks, "Look who's being insulting now! I'll take my business elsewhere."
Richards and Lansky step in front of the doors, obstructing Wallace's access to the weapons. He spins around, his face red with anger as he glares at me. It's quite amusing, really.
"I don't think that was one of the options I gave you, Mr. Wallace," I say, grabbing his hand and stubbing out my cigar in his palm.
"Agh!" Wallace cries out. "Please, I'm just a businessman trying to feed my family!"
I glance back at Joey, grinning. "I guess that's his choice. He's got a family, so we can't kill him. He'll get what we brought him, and all will be well."
"I can't sell it for that price; I won't make anything on the sale!" Wallace chokes out.
I tap his cheek and say, "At least you will still have your life."
"Why can't we just go our separate ways? I'll find another buyer…"
"Because, Mr. Wallace," I sigh. "You took me away from a gorgeous woman to come meet you.
I need to make this meeting worthwhile. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an appointment to get to.
My man will close the transaction so you can be on your way.
" Straightening my cuffs, I glance at Joey and nod.
"Richards," I call out. "You're driving, let's go. "
"Yes, Sir! "
I walk towards the Sedan and get into the backseat while I wait for Richards to get behind the wheel. Pulling out my phone I type out a message to my pauper.
"Where to, Sir?"
"My house. We need to pick up a passenger and then head to the address listed on the GPS under Owens." I keep my eyes on my screen and smile when I see my pauper's reply.
Things have been good between us lately. I'm trying to be more open and less of a bully, as she puts it, and she's working on forgiving my past transgressions. I never truly knew how bad I treated her back in high school; all I knew was that I wanted her.
Liliana is the only female I trust—to an extent.
There are still things that I hold back from her because I don't want to see any pity.
In my mind, what happened to me isn't important anymore.
I grew up, and it will never happen to me again.
I want to look toward the future, not the past, and that's exactly why we're going to see Blake today.
Liliana informed me this morning that she's missed her period. We've been so wrapped up in each other and then me with work that I hadn't kept track. All I knew was that she had been taking the pills I gave her like a good girl and then fucking like rabbits. I can't get enough of my pauper.
Pulling up the drive, I close the partition, separating the backseat from the front. I have no plans on fucking Lily at the moment, but I don't like sharing my time with her. I like to keep her all to myself.
"Stay here," I order Richards, then exit the car.
Just as I open the front door, Liliana walks into the front foyer, looking as gorgeous as ever.
I can never get enough of her. Had you asked me a few months ago if I would feel this way about a woman, even my pauper, I would have laughed in your face.
Although I knew I wanted her, I didn't think Liliana Sumner would capture the heart of this devil, but she has.
"You ready to go?" I ask, perusing her from head to toe, then back to her soft lips coated in a glossy lip balm.
"As ready as I'll ever be." She smiles nervously .
I pull her into my chest and tilt her face up by her chin. "Don't be nervous, Liliana. If you are pregnant, know that I will be here to help make you comfortable in any way I can."
"Will you still say that when I'm as big as a whale, and you can't find the hole?" she asks, worrying her lip.
Whenever our conversations turn deep, Lily brings up sex. I don't know if it's her way of reminding me she's here just to have my kid or her way of protecting herself from falling for me. Whichever one it is, it doesn't matter. I'm going to break her of the habit as soon as possible.
I pull her lip out from her teeth and brush my lips across hers. "I can't wait to see you big with my heir, pauper. You're going to be even more beautiful than you are now, and not much can top your beauty at the moment."
She blushes and tries to turn away, but I don't allow it. Not wanting her to feel uncomfortable on the ride to the clinic, I give her something that she expects to come out of my mouth. "And in case you have forgotten, there's always a good ole enema to be had."
My plan works, as I see her eyes widen as she slaps my chest. "Jarek! Oh, my God—I can't with you!" Her grin is all I need to know that I have her back in the right mindset.
Taking her hand, I briefly bring it to my lips before pulling her out the door. "Come on, we don't want to be late."
I don't bother introducing her to Richards since he will very seldom drive her anywhere. I only have him driving us because Jackson needed the day off for his sister's graduation and Richards was handy. I don't trust just anybody when it comes to my pauper, but you use what you have at the time.
As soon as we pull up to the discreet building, Lily raises her brow at me.
"What is it?" I ask, looking at the building and returning my gaze to her.
"Looks pretty sketchy to me, Falcon. Are you sure he's legit?"
I can't help the laugh that bursts free because of the way she asks this question.
Grabbing her neck, I pull her to me and kiss her lips.
When I pull away, I can still see the skeptical look in her eye, so I go ahead and put her mind at ease by saying, "Yes, he's legit, and an old friend.
He's the only one I trust to take care of you. "
Because of my position, I've brought her to his private clinic rather than the public clinic where he usually works. My pauper is a high-priority patient, and he already knows that he will be at my beck and call when it comes to Lily; I'm paying him generously for the services.
With one last look at the plain brick building, Lily sighs and takes my hand, allowing me to help her out of the car.
"We shouldn't be too long," I tell Richards when he rolls the passenger window down after I tap on it.
"Yes, Sir. I'll be waiting right here."
Turning, I pull Lily with me and enter the building.
"Who was that?" she asks.
"Who? The driver? He's one of the men that works for me. It's nobody you need to worry about," I assure her.
She doesn't say another word, and I lead her through the hallway and to the door with the big guy standing guard. He nods and opens the door without asking me who I am this time.
When we enter, Blake is putting some files away in a file cabinet but turns and greets us, smiling warmly at Lily. A tinge of jealousy streaks through me, and I have no choice but to tamp it down. I know he's not after my woman, but the devil in me doesn't like anyone smiling at what is mine.
"Dr. Owens, this is Liliana Sumner, your newest patient," I tell Blake as he holds his hand out to shake hers.
"It's so nice to meet you, Miss Sumner."
Lily takes his hand and smiles back, "Please, call me Lily. It's a pleasure to meet you."
My hackles rise when she gives him permission to call her that name, but once again, I push it down and concentrate on what is being said. He tells us to sit and begins by asking Lily a bunch of questions.
My pauper tells him how her parents died in a car crash when she was younger, so she doesn't know anything about the health of either of them.
She then states doctor visits she remembers having and for what, but there isn't much she has to offer when it comes to her own history.
Overall, she's a healthy young woman, making Blake happy.
"First and foremost, I'm going to have you step into that bathroom and give me a urine sample. There's a cubby in the wall where you can place it, and I'll have my nurse get it tested immediately. There's also a gown on the bench that I would like you to change into for the exam."
Lily nods and looks at me. I can tell her nerves are getting the best of her, so I hold her hand, running my thumb back and forth to try to calm her down.
When she gets up and goes into the bathroom, Blake leans back in his chair, smirking at me.
"What the hell is that look for?"
"I can see why you like her so much. Lily seems like a nice woman."
"Shut up…" It's all I can say. I won't deny my feelings for my pauper, but I'm not about to have a fucking heart-to-heart about it.
Lily steps out of the bathroom, looking bashful as she holds the back of the gown closed. I think it's cute, but I don't show my amusement, not when she's so nervous. I'm here for support, not to make her uncomfortable.
I'm looking forward to the results. If Lily is pregnant, this will officially be her first appointment, and I don't want to get kicked out of the room.
"Great," Blake states when he sees her walk out, stretching his hand toward a curtained partition. "If you'll step on the other side and lay down, we can begin."
