Page 172 of The Devil's Heir
As we near the hidden door to the front sitting room, I veer off to go to the small library just down the hallway. My men know not to show themselves until they hear my voice. I would like to come through the main door to the sitting room, if possible. I hope the only other men Greco and Rossi have inside the house are the two holding Lily.
I approach the hidden door of the library and listen to see if I can hear any voices coming from the room. When I'm certain it's clear, I pull the latch down and slowly open the door a crack. I can see most of the room clearly from this vantage point, and although I don't see anyone, I draw my gun from its holster just in case.
Carefully, I inch out from behind one of the shelves as I look at my surroundings. The room is empty. Once I know it's clear, I shut the bookcase and hurry to the doorway. I peek around the corner and into the hall before skimming the wall as I make my way to the front sitting room.
I can hear the voices coming from the room, and I pause. My smirk comes automatically as soon as I hear the old bat laying into Greco. She'sgot guts, that's for sure. However, my smile drops when I hear not only Fran's true identity but the proof I've been searching for all these years.
That bastard killed my parents!
Raising my gun, I move silently into the room and point it right at Greco. I can't take in the entire room to see where everyone is, so I hope Joey hears my voice and comes through the secret door, just as we planned.
"You! You killed my parents?"
I hold my gun nice and steady as they all turn toward the doorway where I stand. The tick in my jaw should be enough for all to know that I'm a ticking time bomb.
"Ah, it's so nice of you to join us, Falcon. Now the party can really begin." Greco clasps his hands together joyfully. "Have you decided who you're going to save?"
It's at this time that I see Rossi move behind the couch and point his gun at my son's head as he sleeps soundly in Heidi's arms. Lily cries out and starts struggling to reach our son.
"No! Kill me—let my son live!" she begs.
"Neither of you will be dying, Lily. We are Falcons, remember that," I remind her. Although we're not married, she's still mine.
It all happens at once. My men bleed into the room, two of them taking out the two goons holding Lily, allowing her to run to Keirnan. Joey presses his gun to the back of Rossi's head while the rest of the men surround Greco.
"I want these two motherfuckers alive. We have plans for them," I say, waving my gun between Greco and Rossi.
A few gunshots are fired outside, indicating that Lonzo and the others have entered the property. It's over in a matter of minutes, and then I turn to my new prisoners, grinning.
"You thought you'd pull a fast one over on me, didn't you. I'll give it to you; you almost had me. However, you should have known that you couldn't beat me. I'm a Falcon, after all. It seems you've been trying to get rid of us for years, and we just keep coming back stronger."
Walking over to Greco, I transfer my gun to my left hand and swing with my right, breaking the fucker's nose. He stumbles back a few steps, bringing his hand to his bloody nose.
"You're going to pay for that, Falcon!"
"You tried to take two of the most precious things away from me, and you thought you would get away with it?" I stalk him as he backs up. "I guess I need to remind you why the Falcons run things around here."
I send an uppercut to his jaw, knocking him off his feet this time. Waiting for him to get up, I call out to Lily as I remove my suit jacket. As soon as she's beside me, my hand goes around her waist, and I yank her into me so I can take her lips.
"Are you okay, pauper?" I ask as I help her into my jacket to hide herself from the room.
"Yeah, but I'm better now that you're here." Her smile lights up the room.
Greco tries climbing to his feet, so I jerk my head in his direction. "Go ahead, pauper. Knock him back down."
Lily's eyes widen, and then she looks down at the older man. For a moment, I think she's going to refuse, but then she straightens her spine, purses her lips, and kicks out. Her foot makes contact with Greco's hip, and he falls to his side.
Lily isn't done with the bastard. She swings her foot out again, connecting with his groin. My girl strikes him twice like this, and he cries out like a fucking baby.
"That's for making me feed my son in front of you and your men, you pervert, and this one"—she stomps on his face when he turns onto his back—"is for thinking you could take my family away from me!"
"You bitch!" Greco howls in pain.
"Koval, Elliot, hold this piece of shit down!" I call out to my men as I approach the bloody man on the floor.
As soon as my capos have a firm grip on Greco, I pry open the fucker's mouth after retrieving my pocket knife.
"Nobody disrespects my woman! You got that?"
