Page 144 of The Devil's Heir
Heading back to my office to finish up a few things before I head home, I walk in to find Lucinda getting railed by the guy who works in the mailroom. She's bent over my desk while he pounds into her from behind.
I smirk. Standing there for just a few seconds, I run my thumb over my bottom lip, deciding on my next course of action.Fuck it.My strides are vast as I move toward them, gripping the guy by the shirt and yanking him away.
The guy lands on his ass behind me, his dick still at full mast as I bend over and grab his shirt from the front. My fist meets his face repeatedly while I hear my receptionist yelling my name, telling me to stop.
I'll deal with her in a moment.
I pummel the guy until he's limp and bleeding before I spin around to face Lucinda. What I first found as amusing now has me seething. My shoulders heave up and down as I glare at her.
"You will pack up your shit and get the fuck out of my office. I do not want to see you enter this building ever again."
"Jarek—"
"You do not have permission to call me by my name!" I roar at the woman. "Now, get the fuck out before I have you removed, and trust me, they willnotbe gentle."
Lucinda turns and, without looking at her lunchtime fuck buddy, walks to the door as I run my hand through my hair. A few seconds later, I hear Jackson's voice calling out to Liliana, and my head snaps to the open doorway.
Lucinda still stands there, her clothing full of wrinkles, and then she turns her head my way. The smirk she gives me tells me everything I need to know. Lily saw her leaving my office in this messy state and got the wrong idea.
Fuck!
I grab my phone and call Lily's, but it goes to voicemail. She doesn't answer, so I call Jackson.
He answers the call in a clipped tone. "Yeah?"
"I didn't fuck her." They're the first words out of my mouth.
"Well, it sure didn't look that way, Sir," Jackson states.
"I walked in on her fucking the guy from the mailroom. He's still here, bleeding all over my fucking carpet! Find Lily and bring her back." I end the call, pick up my stapler, and hurl it across the room.
Devin still stands outside my office, looking like he doesn't know what to do. I call him in.
"Take care of this piece of trash before I put a bullet in his head!" I order.
My man nods, yanks Mr. Mailroom onto his feet, and drags him out. I sink into my office chair and lean my head back. Lily needs to learn to get facts straight before she reacts like this. I get why she would think what she did, but why didn't she stay and yell at me for it? She would have found out that it was all a misunderstanding.
My hand twitches, and instead of remaining upset, I grin wickedly. I'm going to redden her cute little ass for thinking so poorly of me, and then I'll forgive her and make love to her the rest of the night.
My phone rings, and Jackson's name pops up on the screen.
"Do you have her?"
"No, she's gone. I didn't make it in time," Jackson states hesitantly.
"I'm sure she's gone home. I'm heading there in a minute, anyway," I tell him, ending the call.
Packing up the paperwork I hadn't finished with, I shut everything down and prepare to leave when a niggling feeling comes over me. I pull out my phone and bring up the tracking app. I'm fully expecting to see Lily's dot heading for the estate, so I'm surprised when I see that's not the case.
Zooming inon the screen, I realize she's at the bank—the same bank that I opened an account for her. She's running.
I try calling her again, but there's still no answer. Thankfully, I'm only a few blocks from the bank, and leaving my briefcase behind, I run out of my office.
By the time I make it to my car, precious minutes have passed, and I look at the app again. I sigh, relieved that she's still there. Starting my car, I peel out of the parking garage like a bat out of hell.
I double park just outside of the bank, not giving a rat's ass if I get ticketed, and I rush to the doors. I collide with others running from the bank, employees and all.
Something's wrong.
