Page 145 of The Devil's Heir
When I finally make it through the crowd, I push open the door and call out to her.
"Here!" she yells, and my heart stops. I've only made it a few steps into the bank when I see a man holding onto my pauper with a gun pointed at her stomach, but then he points it at me.
"Stay right there, Mr. Falcon."
I do as he says, and I notice how he nods slightly. We're the only ones in the bank, or so I thought, but then I spot the bag on the floor, not too far from me, and everything happens so fast.
A loud explosion goes off, and I'm thrown to the side. I watch as the guy holding my pauper shoves her away, and she hits her head before going down, but then everything goes black, and I lose consciousness.
I wake up in chains. I'm in a small room with no windows or furniture. My head pounds, and my body is sore. I'm dressed in the same suit I wore to the office, minus the jacket, which I left on my chair in a rush to get to the bank.
The bank—Lily!
I struggle against the chains, needing to break free and get out to make sure my pauper and son are okay. It's no use, though. One glance at the chains shows they are new and sturdy.
I am going to kill everyone who is involved in this, and I'm going to ensure they suffer immensely. None of my struggles or the noise I make while doing so has brought anyone to my tiny cell. In fact, I believe it's been a full day before a man I've never seen before opens the door and carries in a urinal.
"Don't fucking touch me!" I sneer as he starts to undo my pants.
It doesn't matter that my bladder is screaming to be released; I don't want some stranger touching my dick. However, once he pulls me out and inserts my dick inside the plastic container, my bladder frees itself as I continue to glare at the guy.
He smirks at me the entire time he stands there.
"You like playing nursemaid for your boss? Where are they? Why don't they show their fucking face?" I spew, spittle flying all over.
"They will come when they're ready. Don't you worry, pretty boy," the guy says, winking at me before leaving, not bothering to tuck me away.
Day in and day out, these events happen with nobody telling me anything I want to know. The same guy comes to relieve me of my bladder and bowels, as well as feeding me my one meal a day.
After what seems like a lifetime, and when I'm too weak to fight anymore, the same guy steps into the room, but instead of coming to me, he steps to the side and waits. It isn't until the next person walks in that my blood starts pumping erratically, and I can feel a burst of energy zip through my body.
"You fucking bitch!" I growl through clenched teeth.
"Ah, my poor dear nephew. It seems you have gotten yourself into a little bit of a predicament." Carmen smirks and walks closer to the bed. "You should have known better than to fuck with me, Jarek. We can be great together…"
"Fuck you, you old hag! Let me go, or so help me fucking—"
"God?" Carmen cuts me off and laughs. "I am your new God, dear boy. If you want to keep any of your inheritance, you must do it bymyside."
"I've already done what needed to be done. I have an heir now!" I reply scornfully.
Carmen's sinister laugh following my statement sends chills down my spine, but nothing can prepare me for what she says next.
"What heir is that? The bastard child who died two months ago when its mother took her last breath?" Carmen's eyes light up as she delivers this news.
"No! You're a fucking lying bitch! You'll say anything to get what you want!" I snarl and yank on the chains restraining my arms.
Carmen snaps her fingers, keeping the maniacal grin plastered to her blood-red lips. Her little minion pulls what looks to be a newspaper out from behind him and hands it to the bitch. She shows me the date of the paper—the day after the explosion.
I shake my head in disbelief as I read the headline on the front page.
"The disappearance of Jarek Falcon has left the town of Rushwood in shock, but the death of his heir and the mother of said heir has the city in mourning."
No. This can't be. Liliana and my son are not dead. This is some sort of cruel joke; it has to be.
"So, you see. You have nothing now. The Falcon Empire is mine, and if you want to remain a part of it, you will do exactly what I say from here on out." Carmen's voice echoes through the room, but her words are not fazing me.
My world is gone. Everything that I breathed and lived for has been taken from me. I have nothing.
