“Also, I’m a source for Cayden because I pretend to work with Hunters, Oh and I’m not just in the Resistance… I run it. It’s mine. I started it… and here’s all the things I’ve come up with to protect you and our families. How in the heck is he supposed to respond to all that?”

Freya answered, “With shock and a whole lotta love. With any luck it will lead to sex. He’s so good in bed.” I snorted, “You are very optimistic.” Freya teased, “You used to be too.” She was right. I told her, “Yes, well… that’s… a change in me to be honest.”

Freya apologized, “I’m very sorry I wasn’t there for you.” I closed my eyes. I wished I could remember what happened the night we were supposed to shift. Other than being certain she’d told me to fight. I’d been right all this time and let people gaslight me about it. Which in turn hurt my wolf.

Freya gently said, “I remember everything, and I can tell you about it.” I asked her, “Did you really tell me to fight? Or did I make that up?” I was certain I knew the answer.

Freya whispered, “Yes. I should’ve done things differently.

We fought for so long. I should’ve reached out for help sooner, but I wasn’t thinking clearly because of the pain.

If I’d had more time….” She trailed off.

I asked, “Reach out to who?” Freya answered, “Oden. I reached out to Oden before Gamma Booker hit us in the head. Once you were unconscious, I couldn’t fight the spell alone.

I was blocked, and I didn’t get enough of a message to Oden.

I simply told him we needed help. I had planned to say more, but that was all that went through. ”

I reasoned, “It wasn’t your fault. We tried.” Freya replied, “I was so proud of you. You fought so hard, and that confirmed you were the perfect choice for me. I knew that before of course, but that night you proved it.”

I asked, “Perfect choice for you?” Freya giggled, “I told you. I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.

” I questioned, “Are you going to tell me more about that?” Freya answered, “In due time, yes. As you pointed out, it’s information overload at the moment.

Plus, we are getting to know each other.

We have our mate and our family back. That’s enough for a woman to navigate without adding more to it. ”

I sighed, “Well, let’s venture out of the main house since... I made a lot of muffins.” Freya snorted, “You did.” I walked outside and immediately saw a few people start whispering. They wondered if I was Xander’s mate.

The rumors were his mate was here, and I was new… so their logic was sound. I walked into the pack house and someone dropped a plate. I looked up and saw a girl that I’d saved. I smiled at her then walked further inside.

I was about to set the plate down when a Warrior grabbed a muffin. He asked, “These are for us, right?” I nodded, “Yes they…” He groaned, “Oh my god. That’s the best damn muffin I’ve ever had.” He snatched them from me as his friends gathered around. Then everyone started grabbing muffins.

The first guy turned asking, “Who are you? Other than the amazing new muffin baker.” I gulped, “I’m Melanie McAlister…

Xander is my mate.” The tray was dropped, but that did not stop people from taking the muff ins and eating the ones that fell on the floor.

The Warriors stared at me. What did I do?

Gosh… I already made it awkward… that usually took more words on my part.

One finally commented, “You didn’t make it awkward.” UGH! Curse talking out loud when I don’t mean to. Another questioned, “You’re Beta T’s little sister?” I nodded. Someone else asked, “Xander? Do you mean Alpha Alexander?” I nodded again.

Someone clarified, “So, you’re Alpha Alexander’s mate and Beta T’s little sister? That’s what you’re saying.” I nodded while pulling at the sleeve of my hoodie. The Warriors howled happily. Freya said, “They are quite happy.” So that was good.

The first one yelled, “HOT DAMN! Amazing muffins are now always a possibility, folks! The Luna made them.” I smiled then turned and saw Talia. I’d sent her exactly where I’d promised Tao. I knew she wanted news about him since I was here.

I motioned her outside. She followed quickly. Talia whispered, “Do you know if he’s ok? I miss him so much.” I answered, “He’s ok. I’ll text him later and let him know I’m here…if he doesn’t already know. This changes a lot of the timetable. You’ll be back with him sooner than we planned.”

Talia smiled and tears filled her eyes. She asked, “Really?” I nodded, “Really. He asks about you a lot. He misses you too.” She squeezed my hands saying, “Thank you. For everything you’ve done for him. For us and for me. I’m so glad you’re here.”

I admitted, “Me too. We’ll get this resolved and get you back with him. Then you’ll never have to leave him again.” Talia laughed, “I can’t wait. It’s going to be everything Tao and I dreamed of. All because of you.” I waved to her before she left.

I hightailed it back up to the house. I took out my phone and texted my contact in Alpha Ezra’s pack who’d talk to Tao. Ezra monitored Tao but not the Omega’s. I let my contact know where I was and that someone was asking about Tao. I added a winking face, so he’d know who it was.

I walked back into the kitchen and found a nice platter for the rest of the muffins. My friends came around the corner. Paige greeted, “Hi, Mel. We’ve been waiting for you and ate a few muffins.” I snorted, “Fine by me.”

I looked around and lowered my voice, “I’m going to tell Cayden, Micah and Xander about some things.

” I tapped my lips. They were red so they’d know what I meant.

Paige smiled, “Good call. You’ll want to find your Xander and give him a muffin I suppose.

Then you’ll want to find Cayden.” I nodded, “Yup.”

Paige smirked, “You’re in luck. We know where your Xander is. He’s in his office.” I could’ve found him through scent, or asking ILYX, but that was good to know. I smiled, “Thanks guys!” Avery and Addison were trying not to laugh.

I asked, “Are you guys ok?” Addison smiled, “We are. You go do your stuff then we will have us a girl chat.” I nodded, “Ok.” They started laughing as soon as I walked around the corner. What was their deal?

I saw a Warrior in the hall. I asked, “Do you know where Xander’s office is?” It would be weird if I just walked there…when no one showed me…so asking was good. Freya agreed, “It is.” The Warrior paused then said, “You’re the Muffin Luna.” I asked, “Huh?” That was a new name.

The Warrior laughed, “The pack link is going insane about these muffins. Not to mention the fact that Alpha Alexander found his mate who makes said muffins in your hands; therefore, your name is the Muffin Luna.” I said, “Ok….that’s nicer than the last several nicknames I got…so I’ll take it.”

He told me, “Alpha Alexander’s office is around the corner.” I nodded then set the muffins down and took out my phone. I sent my Resistance group a text that I was going to clue the bigger group into the fact that I was Red One. All quickly agreed it was the right move.

I picked the tray back up and walked. The Warrior was now walking with me. He smiled, answering my unspoken question, “Someone has to open the door. I can’t have the Alpha being upset with me, now can I?”

I answered, “No… that would be bad… and probably mean more cardio… I’m Melanie by the way.” He nodded, “Hello, Luna Muffin Melanie. I am Chason.” I smiled knowing he was a top Warrior in Xander’s pack .

I replied, “It’s nice to meet you, Chason. Do you want a muffin?” Chason nodded, “Do I ever.” He grabbed one and opened the door, “Go right on in.” I smiled and thanked him, then walked in. I was getting steadily more nervous by the second.

I had the flash drives to give Cayden everything. Telling Xander about it though… I hoped he’d know I didn’t ever hurt a Werewolf that wasn’t bad. I never hurt innocent people. That wasn’t my thing. I started talking right away, telling Xander I needed him to find Cayden.

Gosh, that sounded demanding. Why couldn’t I ever sound how I did in my head? Why was I like this when I was nervous? Oh gosh, I was still talking. I switched to the muffins and Phil snatched them from me like the Warrior had in the pack house. Freya hummed, “Look around the table.” Ok?

I broke off when I saw Tristan sitting there. Cayden was sitting next to him looking very amused. Oh my gosh. They were in a meeting?! My friends knew and they didn’t say anything? Why would they just let me walk in here?

I linked Addison, “You tell Paige you guys… ARE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE! The only innocent one is Si, who I haven’t seen yet.

I can’t believe you guys! I walked in here and started ranting about meetings and they are in one.

Oh my gosh! I’m trying to make a good impression here and not embarrass myself. ”

Addison laughed, “Your Xander will find it cute, and he will think it’s funny.

We all love your ranting.” I saw my family biting their lips trying not to laugh.

They’d better not. Freya said, “Their wolves are. They love it. They think it’s so you.

After talking to the fake you they find it refreshing. ” Ugh.

I even saw Eric and Haley sitting there and the rest of my blood drained from my face.

Oh my gosh! His parents were in here too?

! This was mortifying. I turned to leave, but movement caught my eye.

I took a step and turned my head to see who was in the corner, because I might as well complete my humiliation. It was probably the Hackura King.

My eyes locked on the wolves standing there, and then the whole world stopped. Clay stood there smirking at me while his father looked astonished. The rest of their group looked terrified. As they should. I’d beaten them when I was younger and not prepared to fight… now it would be pup’s play.
