I looked over at EJ and explained, “Before when I tried to pop to her, I didn’t even get to pop. I was just standing here as if I got hit by iron, unable to pop.” EJ sighed, “The McAlister’s never made us promise not to pop to them.” I argued, “Yes, they did.”
EJ shook his head, “No, they didn’t. They thought dad asked for the promise. This is a giant conspiracy. We need to talk, little brother.” I agreed, “We do. They all die for what they have done. This is war. They hurt my mate.”
EJ questioned, “Who do you think did it?” I admitted, “I have theories, but I don’t know. The only people I can think of powerful enough to pull it off is the Supernatural Council.” EJ growled, “They better not have.”
I shrugged, “Who better to start a secret organization and fund it? Who would know who to recruit?” Chase snarled, “They better fucking not have! She was a pup! One who is now clearly terrified of us. Why didn’t anyone say how fast she was?
Jesus. I mean they said she was fast, but as fast as my wife and pups? ”
Ted said, “Umm hello? Don’t forget me. I’m fast.” Aunt Lexi whispered, “We didn’t get Alexander in time.
I’m so sorry. Alania’s warning was to get you here quickly to help stop her suffering.
I just never knew who ‘she’ was until now.
” I told her, “That’s not your fault, it’s Alania’s. She a bitch.” Aunt Lexi nodded.
EJ said, “We need to get back. Elise needs to be healed, then we can get Melanie and bring her home.” I nodded, knowing my mate had to be back in Black Path. When we popped back into our home, Jason was talking about his dreams.
At this point, I was mildly concerned that my teeth were going to break, I was clenching my jaw so hard. I quickly healed Elise. She immediately wanted to know where Melanie was. Yes, well that was the million dollar question.
Peter’s phone rang. He told them he was sending people to heal someone. Could we catch a fucking break tonight?! I wanted to focus on my own damn mate. My mom and I popped away to heal Ben McAlister and Nick Kyle.
I frowned when I saw who was working on them. I studied him, “Dr. Ezekiel, how did they get here?” He answered, “They were brought here.” I asked, “By whom?” Dr. Ezekiel dead panned and told me, “By people in black masks.”
I growled, “They should’ve been stopped.” He shrugged, “I was more worried about my patients.” I ignored him because I could tell he knew exactly who had been here. He’d been placed here by the Resistance, so he’d obviously cover for them. I healed Ben McAlister quickly. He sat up gasping.
I turned, “Dr. Ezekiel, you should know that I believe one the people who dropped him off is your future Luna, and when I find her she better be perfectly fine.”
Nick and Ben shouted, “WHAT?!” Dr. Ezekiel smiled for a brief moment then nodded, before leaving the room. That confirmed it for me. He knew it was Melanie that I was talking about, and he liked her as a person.
My mom rubbed my arm saying, “We will find Melanie and figure out what the actual fuck is going on. I promise you that. You are a grown man, but you’ll always be my little boy. No one gets away with hurting my kids, No fucking one.” I smiled, “Thanks, mom. ”
She snorted, “I’m still fucking pissed, and we WILL talk about that but later when this shit is under control.” I nodded, “Of course.” We popped back with Nick and Ben. They were both in shock. Elise was sobbing. Meanwhile, my eyes hadn’t stopped blazing with anger.
I linked Phil, “What now?” Phil winced, “Umm so Elise smelled cleaning products in the McAlister home the night Melanie was supposed to leave for New York.” I growled, “Do not tell me you are saying my mate didn’t get on the fucking plane.” He didn’t reply.
I snarled, “Do NOT tell me my mate was shot IN HER HOME AND TAKEN! No, let’s call it what it is. She was KIDNAPPED FROM THE HEART OF HER OWN PACK’S MOTHERFUCKING TERRITORY! FIND ME RED RUN’S GODDAMN TRAITOR, PHIL! I WANT THEIR GODDAMN FUCKING HEAD!”
Phil replied, “After we get our mates home, you best believe I will find that goddamn asshole. She was only fourteen years old and their own Beta’s daughter for god’s sake! They should show some pride and respect.”
Before I could answer, pain hit me so hard I couldn’t breathe. My mom screamed while Oden snarled in my head. I quickly pulled as much of the pain to me as I could. I reached out in our link, “Angela, you fight! I’ve got your pain. Just FIGHT! We will find you, little one. I promise!”
I could feel my dad pulling pain from me as I kept taking it from Angela. THESE FUCKING ASSHOLES! Who had my little sister?! Who hurt Angela? Uncle Aiden and Klaus popped in. Both were burned. I quickly healed them both, but I never lost focus on pulling Angela’s pain.
A letter floated to my mother. I didn’t even have to ask who it was from.
I knew. Alania. I was going to the Beyond to get as close to killing that bitch as possible.
It felt like time passed by in slow motion.
Angela’s pain suddenly turned to curiosity and hope.
She was still in pain, but I knew she was fighting.
Tears filled my eyes. She was going to stand on her own goddamn it. She was going to make it. I felt her curiosity bloom along with her mischievousness. Then all of a sudden, her pain receded. Her confusion remained, but she was not in pain. I looked at my dad in surprise.
Phil linked me, “Is Ang ok? Your pain was so intense I felt it and yes, I mean yours. Did you take all her pain?” I replied, “All I could.” A pack member came running in several minutes later with a piece of paper. Phil left the room quickly.
He linked me, “My source in Nashville is on the phone.” Ok. Oden linked, “Alexander, what if mate saved Angela?” Then I could never repay her. I would spend my life trying to be good enough for her. Phil ran back in saying his friend had Angela. Thank god.
Hopefully, Melanie was with them, and we could stop all this. I popped with Phil at the same time my mom and dad popped. Angela ran to me then popped into my arms, sobbing. My parents put their hands on her. I told her, “You’re safe now, little one.”
My dad took her, but she just kept crying.
I looked around not happy that several worried faces greeted me.
One woman was crying uncontrollably. Phil was trying to talk to her mate.
That must be Walker then. I was not getting a good feeling, because that meant the girl crying was Blair, Melanie’s friend.
My mom hugged Angela for a moment then my sister popped back to me saying that I had to save her because she saved Angela. I didn’t have to ask who ‘she’ was. It was Melanie. Then she said they didn’t care that Melanie had saved her. She added that they might kill her. Rage filled my being.
Oden snarled, “We are past rage.” I didn’t know this emotion, but it was pure and raw. I told Angela it wouldn't happen. I would save Melanie. I refused to think of another outcome. Sierra ran inside where we were congregated. Phil went straight to her. I could see that Sierra was terrified.
Angela linked me, “It’s bad Alexander, you have to save her.
” I told her, “I promise you I will save her.” Angela nodded.
Sierra lost it when she saw the McAlister’s.
I didn’t have time for this. I linked Phil, “I need to know where Melanie is. I’m dangerously close to killing everyone I don’t know around me. ”
Phil got me answers in the form of a picture.
I knew I couldn’t pop to Melanie, but I could get to the location where the picture had been taken.
Several people grabbed me as I popped. We were not close enough.
What in the spells was going on in this area?
! Sierra told us what direction it was in then took off running .
Melanie’s agonizing scream of pain hit the air. I roared, shifted into Oden, and took off. Someone yelled at them to leave Melanie alone. They should, because I was coming. Melanie was screaming and I could hear her fighting.
I tried to link her, “I’m coming, Lovebug! Hang on!” I got nothing in return. We reached the spot where I could hear the fighting coming from, but it was an empty field. I snarled in anger. Sierra never stopped running and disappeared inside what appeared to be nothing. It was like the Shroud.
Phil shifted back, “MOTHERFUCKING SON OF BITCH! Team bad Witches and Warlocks in ditches with Cousin Haley. These motherfuckers! IF ANY OF YOU INSIDE THERE TOUCH SIERRA I WILL RIP YOUR HEADS OFF!”
I shifted back shouting, “CORBIN, get that down NOW!” Corbin frowned.
Aunt Katie said, “We will figure out what it is. It could take a little time since I’m not familiar with this.
It’s not our dad’s work.” I shook my head, “We don’t have time!
Do you hear them fighting for their lives right now?
! Call Darius! He knows how to get it down. ” My Uncle Logan took out his phone.
Aunt Katie asked, “How would he know?” I ran my hand through my hair admitting, “I had Spencer down here. They have some sort of spell around their pack to conceal its true nature. Spencer discovered the concealment while he was down here. He called Darius to help him, and Darius took it down. He can do it again!” Everyone stared at me.
Jason, Dalton, and Dakota were pacing. Melanie screamed at Avery to look out. Darius came through a portal. He said, “We can do the first layer so we can see inside easily enough. I brought everything we need to take it all down. We’ll get in there, Alexander.”
I didn’t say anything because if I did, I was going to rip people apart and tell them to hurry the fuck up. I shifted back into Oden. After a few moments we could see inside. I roared in anger. Melanie had a burn hole through her shirt. They’d shocked her enough it burned through her shirt.
