Zoey sighed. “Okay, fine. Say that it is possible if you’re a bajillion years old. Whatever. But Emma already told you about the disappearing thing, right? Because I think that’s the only proof we need. Vampires aren’t that fast.”

Oh shit.Of course I hadn’t told Callum about that! I was trying to be on his side! I’d asked him about vampire speed in the middle of a bunch of other questions so he wouldn’t suspect that I was fishing for information about Kebe. Zoey had already brought up the disappearing thing at the bank when we first confronted Kebe. But Callum had been talking to Bennett during that part of the conversation. I sighed, because what else could I do? At least it wasn’t me talking about being suspicious of Kebe.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Callum said.

Zoey looked at me. “But you told me you talked about vampire speed. And how it creates a blur to the human eye.”

“We did talk about that,” Callum said. “But not in the context of Kebe. What is this about disappearing?”

“The girl disappears,” Zoey said. “She doesn’t blur. She completely vanishes into thin air.”

Callum frowned. “That’s not possible. Have you gotten your eyes checked recently? I know humans are supposed to go to the eye doctor every year.”

“I’m not the only one who’s seen it. Grudge has too.”

“Grudge?”

God, this was too much information for this early in the morning. I took a sip of my coffee.

“Yeah, Grudge. One of my sex clients that Emma invited to your wedding.”

I spit out my coffee.

Callum raised his eyebrow at me.

“I’m sorry,” I said. “He called us to tell us about seeing Kebe disappear. Zoey brought up the wedding and then it felt rude not to invite him.”

“He lives in town?”

“I don’t think so.”

“I have no idea where he lives, actually,” Zoey said.

Callum shook his head. “But you said he saw Kebe disappear too.”

“Yeah. On the video feed.”

“That’s not possible,” Callum said.

“I have it on my phone. I can show it to you if you want. There iszeroblur there, Callum. I watched it myself last night.”

“Show me.”

I was curious about this too. Zoey pulled out her phone and clicked on the video. We all watched Kebe walking around the living room for a bit. And then shelooked over her shoulder, like she was worried someone was watching, and then she completely vanished. No blur. Nothing. She was just...gone.

Callum grabbed Zoey’s phone and rewound it to watch it again.

“By the way,” Zoey said. “I booked a portrait artist for your wedding. But we should get a videographer too.”

Wait.I looked at the footage again. “We can see her.”

“What?” Zoey asked.

“Shouldn’t we not be able to see Kebe on video? If she’s actually a vampire? How have we not thought about this before?!”

Callum looked like he was in shock.

“I just figured video was different than an actual snapshot from a camera,” Zoey said.
