Page 98 of Take My Love
She sounds half asleep although she said she slept great last night.
After I left the bathroom and she finished her bath, we spent the night on the couch, watching TV, and chatting in between shows. It was nice.Normal. A few sneaky glances but nothing physical. Not like two roommates who helped each other orgasm.
I’m still riding the high from watching her unravel. Everywhimper, moan, and the way she came with my name on her lips has been on repeat in my head.
It haunted me in my dreams, and I woke up hard as fuck but didn’t have time to do anything about it.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to experience it again. And again and again.
But I don’t know where she stands on what’s going on between us. If she still thinks I’m justhelpingher with her issue or if we’re treading the line of forbidden territory so neither of us lose our jobs. Either she’s really good at disguising her feelings or she has the self-control of a four-star general.
“Jackson and Jamie,” I respond, quickly adjusting myself before she notices the tent in my jeans.
Tightening the lid of her cup, she furrows her brows. “What about ’em?”
“Well…” I tilt my head. “Ever watch stepsiblin’ porn?”
“Oh my God…” She rolls her eyes, groaning. “It’s too early for this.”
“I’m serious! He’s into her. Like in a not-so-brotherly way.”
“Ew…but he’s so much older than her.” She wipes the counter before flicking off the lights.
“So? Some people are into that. Don’t ya have a cousin who married her ex’s dad who’s twice her age?”
I’m pretty sure they had a baby last year.
“Yes, but Jackson and Jamie are basically family even if they didn’t grow up together,” she argues as I follow her out into the living room. “Wouldn’t that be weird for their parents?”
“Probably, but as a guy, I could tell. He has feelings for her. Like beyondsiblinglove.”
“No way.” She shakes her head, grabbing her bag before opening the door.
“And I think she knows it too…” I continue as we walk out to my truck. “Why do you think she wanted to watchthatmovie?”
She bursts out laughing when I open the passenger door for her. “That’s why you think they’re doin’ it?”
“No…” I say, rushing to the driver’s seat. “But I think she knows his dirty little secret and she was tauntin’ him with it. I also think it’s why she agreed to go to the weddin’ with me and suggested he go with you. See if he’d get jealous or not.”
“Like a cat and mouse game?” She buckles in, then sips her coffee.
“Bingo!” I snap my fingers, shifting into gear. “Hundred bucks they’re hookin’ up or will be within the next few months.”
She snorts, shrugging. “Alright, bet.”
“Speakin’ of the weddin’…” I drive us toward the goat barn with the sunrise peeking over the mountains. “After tellin’ Jamie I wasn’t takin’ her, I’m not lookin’ for another plus-one, so you don’t gotta worry about tryin’ to find anyone for me.”
When I glance at her, she’s staring out the window.
“Posey?”
She clears her throat. “Yeah, sorry. Um…I’m not either after cancelin’ with Jackson. Not super interested in findin’ a date with less than two weeks to the event. I don’t think my younger siblings are bringin’ anyone either, so we won’t be the only ones ridin’ solo.”
“Does that mean you’ll save a dance for me?” I say lightly, hoping she’ll at least humor me. It’s hard to get a read on her sometimes, so I have to prod a bit tofind out.
Even if we’re not supposed to date, there’s no rule that says we can’t dance if we keep it PG.
“Sure, they’ll probably play somethin’ that you can white boy dance to.”
