“His tats are hot.” She waggles her brows, sitting on the edge of the bed. “So y’all hookin’ up now or what?”
“No.” I don’t bother elaborating.
She scoffs, grabbing the pillow Silas slept on and throws it at me. “Bullshit.”
“It’s a long story, so don’t ask.”
“Oh, please. You’re not gettin’ away with that. Get dressed. We’re late for brunch.”
I mentally slap myself. I forgot about that.
One Sunday a month we meet up with Mom and Aunt JoJo for brunch at the Summit View.
“How much time do I have?”
“Ten minutes before they come and get you themselves.”
Shit.
“And you’re gonna tell me the truth.”
Groaning, I rush to the bathroom to get ready. It’s gonna take twice as many mimosas to get through this day.
As promised, Bellamy doesn’t let up as she drives us to the restaurant. I give her the quickest brief from meeting Jamie and Jackson last weekend to Friday night and last night’s activities. When I mention Marjorie, she laughs.
“You know y’all broke the employee relations policy,” she quips.
“I’m aware,” I deadpan when she parks. “So zip your mouth. He needs this job until he finds a new one.”
“And when he does, will you finally admit you have feelings for him?”
“It’s not that simple.”
She’s gonna flip when I eventually tell her we took each other’s virginities.
She snorts. “You two are absolutely lyin’ to yourselves.”
I don’t respond as we walk inside and find Mom and Aunt JoJo.
“Girls! Finally. Thought you weren’t comin’.” Mom stands, giving us each a hug.
“Sorry, I forgot to set my alarm.”
“No worries, honey. Go get some food. We have drinks on the way.”
When Bellamy turned twenty-one this past year, she was so excited to finally drink with us.
We head up to the buffet line and stack our plates.
“Hey,” Bodie walks over with an extra chair and sits.
“Hi, sweetie,” Mom greets with a smile.
“Whaddya doin’ here?” Bellamy asks.
Although they’re twins, they still bicker like regular brothers and sisters, but probably even more since they were forced to be glued at the hip growing up.
“What? I like mimosas and brunch,” he replies, offended.
