Rachel

The man moved like a fucking beast. I now understood the issue the troll had with those irritating billy goats trip trapping across his bridge.

Shit was annoying.

I kept my eyes shut, not wanting to disturb the peace that had fallen over my bedroom for the past few hours.

I heard him as he picked up the rubbish from our dinner.

I heard him as he opened and closed the closet.

I felt the blanket being laid across me, and then the fucker had gone and lingered on my shoulder as he pulled the blanket up to my chin.

I couldn’t help the way my body reacted to him. Luckily, he thought I was stirring in my sleep. Then he surprised me by laying a gentle kiss on my forehead before he checked my temperature.

I slyly opened my eye as the bathroom light clicked on and quickly slammed it shut again when I saw him come back in with a glass of water and some paracetamol from the medicine cabinet.

He placed them on my bedside table and then walked over to Bee’s side of the bed.

“I love you, my mini-B,” he whispered, followed by the sound of him giving her a kiss.

And then he was gone.

I didn’t quite trust that my spying had remained undetected, so I only half opened my eyes and then breathed a sigh of relief, opening them fully when I noticed he had left the room.

“What the fuck was that about?” I whispered to myself.

So he was capable of being gentle when he wanted to.

I still needed answers though, so I gently shifted Bee to the side and placed the pillows I had been using behind her so she would think I was still there, and softly padded across the carpet, following Dante.
