Jordyn

QUEEN

How is it possible to be in love with someone I barely know? And I don’t think it’s even as simple as that. He said the word earlier.

Obsessed.

That’s the only way I can think to describe it. He’s in the bathroom, and I miss him. I miss his smirk and the way his eyes always seem to be on me. The way he touches me, both gently and roughly, depending on the moment, it’s like he always knows exactly what I need.

Cash Savage has skeletons in his closet.

So do I.

You don’t grow up and live in this city and rule a gambling empire without having some secrets.

He’s not a perfect man, but he’s perfect for me.

Possessive.

Jealous.

I told him he needs professional help, but it might be me who needs it because my entire body sparks to life when he gets that way.

He emerges from the bathroom, all muscles, tattoos, and swagger as he makes his way to me, holding out his hand for me.

There’s not a single guard anywhere in the house.

Home .

I slow my steps and look around. Cash notices and glances back at me, concerned.

“What’s wrong?”

“You really want me to stay here with you? I can keep my apartment and come over when you want to see me.” I hate that my insecurities are showing.

In the business world, I’ve always been confident and sure of myself.

I’m smart, educated, and good at what I do.

But behind closed doors, I know my flaws.

I see them when I look in the mirror. So there’s no way he doesn’t.

Cash’s eyes darken, and he moves over to me, cupping my face in both hands.

“No, kitten. That won’t work. Because I want to see you every second of every day.

I don’t want you to stay with me. I want you to fucking live with me.

In our home. I want you to make it yours.

Decorate it. Burn it down and build a new one.

I don’t give a fuck what you do, but this is where you belong.

You’re not keeping your apartment as backup because there’s no out from this.

If we fight, we make up. If we don’t make up right away, I’ll sleep on the floor next to your side of the bed.

But there will be no cheating, no lying, and no leaving.

This is your home. I will be having your name put on the deed next to mine.

Except the last name will be Savage because you will be my wife. ”

Tears fill my eyes, and I nibble on my bottom lip, emotions swelling in my chest.

“You’re so bossy,” I choke out on a laugh.

He grins, the heart tattoo under his eye lifting slightly. “Yeah, baby. I am. Now get outside so we can look at the stars together. Edith already set up espresso and gummy bears for us.”

As we walk outside to the same double lounge bed we dry-humped on last night, I can’t help but remember the first night I was here, watching him from the window. Falling for him even then.

I get comfy on the bed as he lowers himself next to me. We lie on our backs beside each other, staring up at the dark sky, our fingers entwined. Neither of us speaks, but we don’t have to.

Finally, I turn onto my side, propping my head on my hand. “Can you promise me something?”

He glances at me and raises an eyebrow, then scoots back slightly to sit up more. “It depends. If you ask me to put five kids in your belly, the answer is yes. If you ask me to let you hug Caleb ever again, I’ll take my belt off right now.”

I laugh and roll my eyes, playfully slapping his chest. “I will hug Caleb anytime I want. I think he needs more hugs. Maybe it will make him smile more. Sheesh, the man has resting dick face.”

Cash lets out a low growl from the back of his throat, but doesn’t say anything, so I continue, “No more cameras in the bathrooms.”

“How about I make you a deal? I’ll do no cameras in the toilet room.”

My mouth drops open as I stare at him, speechless. Is he fucking insane? That is the only possible answer.

“No.”

“Why not? I want to watch my pretty girl getting ready in the morning if I’m not home. Or watch you showering, washing that sexy body. We both work a lot, I need to see you as often as possible.”

It feels like I’m losing my mind because why does what he’s saying make sense? And why does it make my pussy ache?

Cash pulls a pack of cigarettes out and lights one, waiting for me to answer him. When I shoot him a glare, he gives me the panty-dropper smile that makes me melt, and I want to smack him again because I hate that it works on me.

Irritated, I snatch his cigarettes and lighter and put one up to my mouth.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”

Shrugging, I flick the lighter and inhale, trying not to cough like a total amateur, even though this is my first cigarette ever. It’s fun to mess with him, though.

“I’m smoking. You do it.”

He grabs it from between my fingers and flicks it into the pool. “I don’t give a fuck. You’re not allowed to do it.”

“Why not? Why is it okay for you and not me?”

“Because. I’m me. I can do whatever I want to my body. You are you, and you’re too fucking precious.”

This man.

So unreasonable, but sweet at the same time.

“If you do it, I should be allowed to.”

His jaw twitches, his eyes sparkling with rage as he shakes his head and takes one last drag before flicking it into the pool, too. Then he throws the entire pack and the lighter in with it.

“Fuck it. Fine. You fucking win. I quit. And if I ever catch you smoking again, kitten, your ass will regret it.”

A slow smile spreads over my lips as I crawl on top of him and lower my head to his chest to listen to his heartbeat.

“Yes, Daddy. Whatever you say.”

“I say you have to say yes,” he says, holding out a tiny red velvet box.

My pulse races faster, and I can’t take my eyes off it. Is this really happening? It’s too fast. Right? We’ve known each other for five days.

It doesn’t feel like that, though. It feels like our souls have known each other forever. Like our bodies speak to each other effortlessly. Because they do. Everything with Cash is effortless. Even our arguing. As fucked up as that might be.

He pops it open. Sitting inside is a simple platinum band with the most sparkly oval diamond I’ve ever seen. It’s big enough to make a statement but not so big that I’ll be afraid to wear it. It’s breathtaking.

“It was my mom’s engagement ring. She gave it to me before she died. She told me she knew I would give it to the perfect woman.”

His mother’s ring. Not something he picked out at a jewelry store. This ring is personal. So special. And he wants to give it to me. Because he loves me. I believe him when he says there’s no out. Til death do us part is something Cash Savage will live by. And I want to as well. With him.

“Yes,” I answer softly with tears rolling down my cheeks. “I’d love to marry you, Daddy.”

“Always above me, and never below me,” he murmurs as he cups my face and leans in to gently kiss me. “My queen.”

Two weeks later…

“The Carver family accepted the payment and will be stepping away from the casino business because they want to get into the political sphere. CK Gaming will be absorbed under both Savage Entertainment and Kingston Casinos, with each business taking a fifty-percent share.”

I look up from my laptop to make sure everyone agrees.

Cash, Xander, Beckett, Kian, and Caleb all nod, their attention undivided.

“Caleb will be taking the role as head of security for both companies. Beckett will start focusing on construction, renovation, and upgrades that are sorely needed on the old Carver buildings.”

My fiancé grins at me, pride etched into his face as he lets me lead this meeting.

Speaking to the Carver family was difficult.

As it turns out, Elliott’s body was found in a river in New Jersey, where he was apparently having some gambling issues of his own.

He owed a lot of money to some casinos in Atlantic City.

The police told the Carver family they suspect the mob took him out and gave them very little hope of ever finding his killer.

I didn’t ask Cash how he arranged for all of that because it doesn’t matter. Elliott got what was coming to him.

His family didn’t deserve to lose all their hotels and casinos because of his fucked-up business deal, though.

So, we went in together to buy them out for a fair price.

They took the money and are happy to leave the business.

I suspect they weren’t loving the way Elliott was doing things, or were surprised that he had gotten into trouble.

His mother admitted that he’d been spiraling over the past few years; drinking too much and using drugs.

“Whatever you say, bombshell. Your wish is my command.” Beckett smirks and winks.

Cash shoots him a glare while I fight a smile and shake my head at my future brother-in-law.

The more I get to know him, the more I realize his easygoing nature is a cover-up for his much darker side.

I saw it when they came to my apartment after Jacob had been shot.

When we were in that warehouse, Beckett was all business, ready to kill with his bare hands.

He’s just as dangerous as his brothers, but he hides it better.

“Such a good boy,” I coo like I’m talking to a dog while winking back and catching him by surprise.

Beckett and everyone else start laughing as we stand to leave the boardroom we’re in.

Cash comes over and kisses me. “Good job, baby. So fucking proud of you.”

Heat spreads through me, right down to my core.

I can’t wait until we get home tonight so I can jump this man’s bones.

I don’t know how he does it, but during the day when we’re working, he makes me feel like a queen.

And then at night, he makes me feel like a filthy girl while still treating me like a queen.
