NO MERCY
Jordyn has been silent the entire drive out to the warehouse. We’re alone in my SUV. My brothers are in the one behind us with Carver detained.
As soon as I buckled her into the passenger seat, she turned her body toward the window, blocking me out completely. I fucking hate it.
I know she’s going through a mix of emotions right now, but my girl doesn’t get to run from me. She’s supposed to run toward me so I can be her haven. So I can take care of her and be the Daddy she needs.
Reaching over, I take her hand in mine and thread my tattooed fingers with her unmarked ones. As I look down at where we’re connected, the thought of a C inked onto her ring finger makes my cock ache. Mark her with my initial.
Fuck.
I want that.
We pull into the gravel lot of the warehouse and park. When she goes to let herself out, I release a low growl and shake my head. “Touch that door handle, kitten, and you’ll go into that warehouse with a hot ass.”
Then I get out and round the hood to help her out while she gapes at me with her soft lips hanging open.
I block her from doing anything except stepping out of the car, my body pressed against hers.
When she tips her head back and looks up at me with those wide, sparkling green eyes, I lose the ability to think straight.
“Are you sure about this?” I ask when Xander approaches while Kian and Beckett hand Carver over to some of our men.
“Yes. Are you going to kill him?”
I dip my head and blink, giving her the answer without a word. “Unless you say otherwise, kitten. Your wish is my command,” I reply, then add, “But in my world, no one hurts the people I care about and gets away with it.”
She stares at me for a long beat, then nods and nudges past me. Holding her head high, she waits for me to lead her inside.
If she’s shocked by the warehouse, she doesn’t let it show. In fact, she doesn’t seem fazed by it at all. She stays close, but she walks as if she’s been in a place like this before. Like she’s had to handle some business of her own for Kingston Casinos.
Part of me is proud of her, but the other part, the Daddy in me, wants to take her home and shield her from our dark world.
She’s an adult, though, and while I might control a lot of things in her life, this won’t be one of them.
My girl is going to be the head of one of the biggest Las Vegas empires soon, and I won’t get in the way of her.
I’ll be the first to bow at her perfect feet.
Her steps falter only slightly when she sees her father in the center of the space. She glances at us, then back at Kingston.
“Jordyn.” Kingston’s voice is weak. Probably from all his screaming after I shot off his kneecap.
“Shut up,” she snaps. She stands straight, shoulders back, her glorious fucking tits pushed out.
My girl is all business. Hell, even I’m straightening my shoulders.
“I have put up with your bullshit for so long, swallowing the terrible ways you’ve treated me over the years, all because I’m a woman. Your daughter .”
Kingston starts mumbling. “I’m sorry. I made a mistake.”
She stops and stares at him, then huffs out a breath and shakes her head. “You got Jacob killed today. Did you know that?”
His eyes go wide, and he looks toward me for confirmation, but I give him nothing, I watch him with pure fucking loathing, standing behind my girl while she handles her shit. I’ll know when to step in, when she needs me. And I’ll be there. For the rest of my life.
Once she’s done with him, it’s my turn. Kingston may not have killed my dad, but he hurt the most important person in the world, and I’m not a merciful man when it comes to those I love.
And fuck me, I’m in love with the woman in front of me.
My queen.
My baby.
My kitten.
And soon, my wife.
I shouldn’t have let her go.
Because maybe, just maybe, over time, I can make her learn to love me.
It’s okay if she doesn’t right now. I’ll love her still. I’ll love her like she’s never been before. I’m not a good man, but I will be to her.
Our men stand around the room as she commands the attention of every one of them, even those she’s not speaking to.
“You pushed my mother away and got my brother killed, all because of your selfish greed and poor business decisions. No one fucks with our business, isn’t that right, Dad? That’s what you always said. But you did. You fucked with it.”
“I was trying?—”
“No!” she screams. “You were trying to gain power. To stick it to Jack Savage for something that happened fifty-something years ago that was your fault to begin with! But now he’s dead, and so is my brother.
And I blame you. I wanted to come here to tell you I forgive you, but I hope you go to hell for everything you’ve put me through.
For what you’ve put our family through. I might just be a woman, but I learned a few things growing up around you.
The one that has always stuck with me: Don’t fuck with my business. ”
Before he can speak, she spins on her heel. When she strides past me, she meets my gaze, giving me silent permission to kill Kingston. I wink at her and nod at two of my men to follow her out.
Several of my men situate Elliott in a chair next to Kingston, the two of them looking at each other, knowing this isn’t going to end well for either of them.
I wait anxiously until they’re done. And as soon as they step away, I attack Carver, punching him over and over until his entire face is bloody, his screams for mercy falling on deaf ears.
“You were going to rape my girl, huh? Is that the kind of man you are?” I growl as I hit him again. “Maybe I should do to you what you were going to do to her, yeah? I bet you’d like to take my big cock, wouldn’t you?”
He groans and tries to curl down into a ball, his tied hands keeping him from doing so as I take a step back and laugh. My brothers laugh. We’re bonding again. It’s nice.
I pull out my gun and point it at Kingston, loving the way his eyes bulge as he stares at the end of the barrel.
“I didn’t kill your father,” he shouts.
“No, but you hurt my girl, and that might be worse.”
“I never touched that girl!”
My index finger tenses.
“Yeah, well, that girl is my queen. All I have to do is look into her eyes to see the pain you’ve caused over the years.
But don’t worry, I’m going to spend the rest of my life healing her, loving her, putting her on the pedestal she deserves.
That girl is a Savage, through and through.
And one day, she’ll forget you. Or even better.
She’ll smile because you’re the reason she found her real Daddy. ”
I pull the trigger all the way, the bullet hitting him between the eyes. Blood splatters everywhere, covering Elliott as he sags in his chair. Kingston slumps forward, his lifeless body falling to the cold, concrete floor.
“Cash, let’s talk about this. I have money, man. I’ll give you as much as you want. Just let me live,” Carver begs, choking on a sob as spittle flies from his mouth.
I smirk and look at my brothers. “Did you hear that? He has money. But actually, since Jordyn is now the sole owner of Kingston Casinos, when you die, that will also make her the sole owner of CK Gaming, based on the way the contract is written. Which means she’ll have a lot of money. Isn’t that right, Carver?”
He shakes his head, and I chuckle.
“You fucked yourself. And your family business, all for your own greed. You thought you were smarter, and that you could get one over on Kingston. You succeeded in that. But you fucked with my family and my girl in the process, which was a lethal mistake. I’ll at least give you the respect to shoot you between the eyes.
I’m not a coward, unlike whoever murdered my father. ”
I pull the trigger again. And as the bullet sinks into his skull, I let out the heavy breath I’ve been holding onto for way too long.
Avenging my dad won’t bring him back, but at least I’ll be able to sleep at night knowing his killer is where he belongs. Six feet under in the middle of the desolate desert. Along with the other bodies we’ve buried over the years. Because as my kitten says, no one fucks with our business.
Caleb stands outside Jordyn’s car door, arms crossed, ready to protect my girl in a heartbeat.
Like he did earlier. She would have been killed if he hadn’t burst into her apartment.
He deserves a bonus. I could give him a check for my entire bank balance and it still wouldn’t be enough to thank him for saving my girl.
As soon as he sees me, he tips his head in acknowledgment then waits until I’m in the driver’s seat before he backs away from the SUV.
Jordyn doesn’t say anything, her eyes downcast to her lap, where she’s twisting her fingers together.
I reach for a hand and bring it to my mouth, pressing a gentle kiss to it.
She turns her head to look at me, her lips parted.
Then she pulls away, and I can’t breathe.
Why doesn’t she want to touch me? The throbbing of my knuckles makes me glance down at them, and even though I rinsed them off with bottled water, they’re still swollen and bloody. Is she upset because I killed her dad?
I swallow tightly and follow Xander’s SUV out of the parking lot, Caleb on my tail. Tension fills the space between us, but I’m trying not to lose my temper; she’s been through so much today. There could be a dozen reasons why she doesn’t want to touch me. But I still don’t fucking like it.
We’re nearly at my house when Jordyn sits up and scans the horizon, then looks at me with panicked eyes. “Where are we going?”
“Home.”
What more is there to say?
Her home is with me.
I made a mistake by letting her go, and I’m fixing it right fucking now.
“Cash, my apartment is the other way.”
“You’re not going to your apartment, kitten. And if you call me Cash one more fucking time, I swear, I’ll put you over my knee on the side of the road.”
Her mouth opens and closes like a fish as she figures out how to respond. It’s pretty damn cute.
As we go through the gates of my property, she twists her upper body toward me, her eyebrows pinched. “What are you doing? Why aren’t you taking me home?” Her voice gets higher with each word.
My lips twitch as I park, then turn to cup her chin. “I am taking you home, kitten. This is your home. This is where you belong. Not that boring-ass apartment. With me.”
I’m already out of the car and by the passenger door to help her when she finally moves, but it’s not to climb out of the car. She reaches for the door and starts to pull it closed, but I catch it before she slams it in my face.
“Take me home. I don’t live here. You let me go.” Her words slice through me as she crosses her arms, pushing up her big tits and irritating me even more. I don’t want all my brothers and Caleb to see that. Those are for me and only me.
“Get out of the car, kitten,” I warn, my dick twitching along with my palm.
“I’m not getting out. Take me home, Cash.”
Oh, she wants to be a brat, does she? My kitten wants to test me? I failed us once by letting her go. That’s not happening again. That’s the thing about me; I learn my lessons and never repeat them. Just like she’s never leaving again.
Letting out a deep sigh, I lean into the passenger side and unbuckle her seatbelt, then push my shoulder into her soft stomach and flip her over it. She grips the back of my shirt for dear life. As if I would drop her. She doesn’t know me very well. I’ll never let that happen.
“Are you serious right now?” she screeches.
“You better have panties on because if any of them see your pussy, their heads are on you,” I growl as I carry her past them.
“Stay out here. We’ll be done in a minute. I need to have a chat with my future wife,” I snap at the guys.
Xander smirks at me as I walk past him, and my heart swells. Whatever happened earlier is already water under the bridge for us. He obviously has some shit to work through. And when that time comes, I’ll be there for him no matter what. Just like he has been for me.
Jordyn screams and slaps my ass, but the only thing that does is make my cock harder as I stride into my office, kicking the doors shut behind us before I set her down.
Flecks of gold burn in her emerald eyes as she scowls and tries to push past me. I block her and unlike most would, she doesn’t back down. She’s a full head shorter than me, and definitely lighter, but my girl doesn’t care. She’s my fierce kitten.
“You can’t keep me here forever,” she hurls at me.
I smile. “Why not, baby? I like you here. I like you with me.”
She eyes me suspiciously. “For now. Until the next one. Until a better one.”
My shoulders tense. “What the fuck does that mean? There is no better one compared to you. I shouldn’t have let you go. I was trying to do the right thing. To give you the option. But you’re mine, kitten.”
Silence stretches between us as her expression shifts. She takes a step back, crossing her arms again, trying to keep me out. I hate it.
“You think I’m stupid enough to think someone like you would want someone like me?”
