Page 149 of Satan's Spawn
Crayton starts at my neck, his lips hovering so close to it the warmth from his breath kisses my skin.
It heats my insides like a furnace.
He releases my wrists so both hands can travel downward, as does his mouth, tiny wisps of heat radiating down my body until he reaches my navel.
“Crayton…” I whimper his name, my stomach dipping as his tongue grazes my dampened skin.
He releases a low contented growl that reverberates off the waistline of my underwear.
As much as I love all the things he’s doing to me, I need to feel his lips on mine so much more. To be connected in the most personal way, so neither of us can deny the sparks that fly between us. Ignore the pull that brings us closer each time we’re alone.
“Please kiss me…” I whisper, my tone needy and desperate, but I no longer care.
That’s exactly what I am for him, and I’m no longer ashamed to admit it. Because what he’s proven to me tonight is so much bigger than feeble emotions.
Drops of water are sliding down his forehead when he hovers over me once again, a single bead passing the lips I’m so eager to taste.
Crayton runs a lazy finger down the valley of my breasts, which is rising and falling at record speed. He examines the area closely before turning his attention back to my eyes, then to my lips.
Then back up to my eyes, wary.
‘It’s okay’ I mouth to him when a look of pain flashes across his face.
For reasons I don’t understand, intimacy with women is hard for him. But it doesn’t take a genius to know it must be related to something awful.
I cup my hands over his cheeks, my eyes fluttering closed when he inhales sharply.
I breathe as evenly as I can when I sense Crayton descend, the both of us falling right back into the same place we were in the Riverside pool. And my heart nearly bursts out of my rib cage when his breath is on my lips.
This is it…I think to myself. This is where he ruins me for all other guys.
“We should probably get going. It’s getting late.” Crayton says through a thwarted breath.
The words don’t fully process until I sense his warmth drifting away, my eyes flying open to come face to face with a blank mask.
The rejection hits me like a punch to the gut once again, but I keep my composure for my ego’s sake.
At least he hasn’t gone back to playing the asshole.
“Yeah, you’re right.” I sit up, instinctively covering my chest when he climbs off me, and jumps to his feet.
Crayton helps me once again as we hike over the rocks back to the bridge where we both get dressed in uneasy silence.
A twig snapping makes me jump as I slide on my flip flops, and I whirl around in a panic that someone’s out there in the darkness watching us.
Then I remember that’s impossible, because I was almost stripped naked with my stalker.
“What’s the matter?” Crayton forces out a laugh. “You scared of the things that go bump in the night?”
Reaching for my bag, I offer him a hesitant smile. “Only when the things that go bump include some rando going around mutilating people for the past week.”
It was meant as a joke, but Crayton doesn’t seem to take it that way. Seriously, I’d trust his skill with a knife over any crazy serial killer.
I can feel it the moment he goes back to withdrawing into himself, something about what I said shifting the mood from awkward to heavy.
“C’mon, I’ll order you an Uber.” He fords toward the trail, and my shoulders sink as I do the same.
It’s like no matter what I do I can’t win for more than a few moments with this guy.
