“Giving me some of what I want when I ask for it.”
“What do you want?”
“More of you.”
“Like what?”
“Kiss me in fucking public for starters.”
She closes the gap between us and grabs me by the shirt, pulling me to her and kisses me roughly. The way her lips move across mine I can feel the frustration radiating out from her. The glare from earlier softens though as she pulls away.
“Better?”
“If you’d done that out there, maybe, yeah.”
“Noted. What else?”
“Wear my jersey when you come to my games, not just when you fuck me.”
“That is such an antiquated—“ she starts to protest but I cut her off.
“Maybe, but I want everyone to know you’re mine. I want to look up and see you in it and remember what you look like in my bed with it on. I want you to wear it and remember what I feel like when I’m inside you… How many times you call my name.”
“Stop making it sound hot.” She furrows her brow, and I smirk.
I lean down and slide my fingers up the back of her neck, brushing my lips over hers and she melts into me, opening for me and letting my tongue slide across hers. I can feel her fingers creeping up under my shirt, exploring my skin.
She pulls back from our kiss after a long minute and looks up at me. “I’m sorry. I didn’t think about it that way.”
“It’s okay.” I shake my head and the way she’s looking at me makes my heart and my ego swell. I’m tempted to confess everything to her. To ask for what I really want, but then she blinks like she’s coming out of a trance.
“I should um, go check on Joss. Make sure she hasn’t stilettoed Colton or Jake and get her home safe.”
“Okay.” I nod, still too deep in my feelings to say anything more.
“Have fun, but don’t get too wild, okay?” She gives me a half smile.
I nod, biting my tongue to keep myself from blurting out more.
“See you tomorrow.” She dots a kiss on my cheek and then hurries off toward the crowd again.
And it takes all I have not to chase after her.
TWENTY-THREE
Violet
The secondI get in the car with Joss and the driver takes off, I regret not asking Ben to come home with me. I know it was the right decision because he needs time with his friends and in a few weeks, I am going to have to let him go period. But the idea of him there with her, the bartender, and the dozen other women who would love to get him to go home with him tonight has me twisted in knots. And the growing jealousy I have over him makes me nervous, like maybe there’s more to our friends with benefits situation than I want to admit to him or myself.
“Yes, it was stupid to leave him there like that,” Joss mutters as she lays her head against my shoulder, closing her eyes.
“Thank you. That’s definitely what I needed to hear right now.”
“I tried to help.”
“I’m not sure bodily harm would have helped.”
“Depending on the guy and how it’s applied…” She wraps her arm around mine and repositions me to be a better pillow.
