Page 114 of Rapunzel Is Losing It
“Do you want to see the porn I watch to get myself off? Because it’s not ‘sweet lovemaking with my blushing bride’ or whatever you might be thinking of.” I must have stared a little too hard because she rolled her eyes at me. “Oh, what did I say now? Yes, I watch porn. Is that it?”
“You’re so fucking perfect.”
She pulled a strand of my hair down. It stretched all the way down into my vision. I’d only let it grow this long because my uncle hated it, but Cordelia playing with it was an even better reason. She used it like she used her own hair while sortingthrough her thoughts, and I could get addicted to her fingers fidgeting around my scalp.
“Thank you,” she whispered finally when her hands slipped from my hair to my neck.
“Anything. Always.”
She leaned up to give me a quick kiss, but her eyes remained shut when she sank back to the floor.
“Come on, let’s get you in bed.”
“What if I want to go again?” She asked without even opening her eyes.
“Not tonight.”
I somehow managed to detangle us just enough to lift her into bed, take care of the condom, switch the lights off and climb in next to her. She hummed her ‘not quite sure about this’-hum and fumbled for my hand on her stomach. She repositioned it, pulling it up her body and cupping it around one of her breasts.
“That’s better,” she whispered.
Fuck, I loved this woman and her weirdly specific mind.
CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO
“What if Ijust don’t let you leave?”
Victor had a plane to catch, but part of me couldn’t let go. It was the very same part that kept me rooted on his lap, hands stemmed onto his chest to press him into my mattress. The other more logical part of me only made for like 5% - so maybe my hair and my toes.
“Then I’ll be dragged out of the house and if I’m not killed, I’ll probably have my hands cut off.”
I narrowed my eyes at him. “Couldn’t think of a nicer way to say that?”
“You told me not to coddle you,” he shrugged, “so I’m not.”
“Fine,” I sighed, “but I don’t trust Luka. We need a backup. Maybe I should come with you. I managed Canada. I can do France.”
“Why don’t you trust Luka?” His brows shot up as if he hadn’t been the very person to tell me that I couldn’t trust his cousin.
“He betrayed you before when you thought he’d have your back. He told your uncle about you living here with me.” Something unspoken passed behind his eyes, there and gone in an instant. “What?”
“Nothing.” His expression shut down, locking me out of his thoughts. “We can trust Luka.”
“You’re keeping things from me again.” A startling cold shock ripped through me. It felt like being pushed into the pond outside on an icy day.
He didn’t even deny it.
I shuffled backwards to the far end of the bed.
“Tell me,” I said.
“I can’t.” He pushed himself up, his hands ghosting over his chest where mine had just been.
“Why?”
“Because I don’t want to hurt you. Ineverwant to hurt you.”
“I don’t want you to hurt me either.” My throat tightened as a dozen scenarios threatened to push their way into my thoughts. “If you don’t stop keeping things from me, Victor, this will never work. We’re partners or we’re nothing at all.”
