“Fuck you, man,” Acheron curses, and Justyce laughs.
“See. Glitter.”
“So check in and head back?”
“I’m not sure. You’ll both make that call when you’re there, and I guess it depends on what Angelite needs.”
I nod and look toward Acheron. He’s got that stupid, sexy, and cocky grin on his face. It’s making me want to fucking shoot him.
Giving myself an internal pep talk, I repeat a mantra over and over in my head.
I can do this. I am Raine Voroniva, and I’m a badass bitch…
I just need to survive driving with Acheron for one hour. Surely it won’t be that bad, right?
Chapter12
Raine
Fifteen minutes later, and after I had raided my closet in my private room downstairs so I could pack an overnight bag, I’m sitting in Acheron’s black Bugatti La Voiture Noire. I swear he loves this car more than he could love anyone else, and that’s including himself.
Crossing my legs, my black skirt rides up, and I’m forced to readjust it along with my white tank top and black jacket. I can feel his eyes on me, and it unnerves me, sending critters scouring my insides.
I hear the telltale flick of a lighter and look over and glower at him. “Must you?”
He side-eyes me, takes a draw, and blows a plume of smoke in my face. “It’s weed. So yeah, I must.”
“Give me that, asshole.”
He switches hands so I can’t grab the joint from his hand, and I groan in frustration. “How the fuck did I land myself in this car with you?”
He doesn’t answer; instead, his foot hits the accelerator and he floors it, the cars blurring beside us, and I feel the smile on my face while I become one with his leather seats.
My head rests to the left to watch him, seeing the stubble lining his unmarred side, knowing the other side tells more than just a Cinderella story.
I’ve never heard him tell the story of how he acquired his scars, but there were enough rumors and whispers circulating to even leave someone as resilient as me shuddering.
“Would you stop?” He demands, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“Shut up, asshole.”
“Your thoughts are so loud they’re giving me a fucking migraine, Raine. I’m going to kill Justyce when we get home.”
I grin, loving the fact I’m getting under his skin and pissing him off, which makes the drive a little more bearable. Smirking to myself, I pull my phone out and start scrolling through my socials.
After two minutes, I’m satisfied that the entire world is nothing more than a bunch of attention whores, not to mention the fakeness that goes along with it.
There doesn’t seem to be anything authentic about what these people post, not to mention the deception they’re smearing all over their pages with their fake everything.
Groaning, I’m about to close out of the app when Arrow’s face pops up, except it’s not only him smiling through the lens. Two women stand on either side of him, gazing up at him with their hands inside his open leather jacket, resting on his bare, tattooed chest.
An unwelcome feeling swirls inside my belly like a tsunami, and before I can do anymore stalking and fall down more rabbit holes, I exit out of the app and throw my phone into Acheron’s center console.
“Slow your roll, girl. Why are you throwing shit in my fucking car, and what’s got your panties in a fucking twist?” He growls, side-eying me while he tries to focus on the road.
“Nunya.”
“Really? How old are you again, little girl?”
