CHAPTER 50

Jordyn

L eaping out of my seat, I throw my arms in the air, cheering as the puck flies into Ohio’s net, giving the Wolverines the win. I look at the scoreboard as it buzzes. The final score is 2-4.

Chelsea, my mom, and I hug each other while jumping up and down. When I pull back, my gaze moves to the ice, searching for Tristan. I can’t help but notice that Coach Nelson’s eyes are on my mom—where they’ve been several times during the game before I find the mossy green eyes of the man I love.

Grabbing my mom and Chelsea’s hands, I race toward the ice, intent on celebrating with the man I love. Our eyes lock as he skates to me, lifting me off my feet and swinging me around.

“Congrats on the win. What a goal,” I yell in his ear, trying to be heard over the noise of the crowd.

“Thanks, kitten. Told ya you were my lucky charm.”

My hands cup his face. “You make me melt, captain.” My lips meet his in a sizzling kiss, and the entire boisterous celebration around us fades. “You’re my forever,” I murmur against his lips.

“You’re my forever.” He kisses me before lowering me to the ice. Holding me in his arms, we’re lost in our own world. “If someone would have told me my roommate's stepsister would literally catch me with my pants down, and we’d still end up falling in love, I’d have told them they’re insane.”

“Ugh. I don’t wanna think about you with your pants down around any other tramp.” I scowl at him before looking around the rink, spying Janelle with her arm around Bryce. “She moved on quickly.”

Tristan smirks. “Rumor has it she was fucking Josh, Bryce, and Landin.” He shakes his head, his face twisted in disgust.

“Who cares what she does? You’re mine, and I’m yours. That’s all that matters.”

“You’re right. Nothing else matters. Well, except those two.”

I don’t even have time to react before Chelsea flings herself at my back, and judging by the weight that slams me into Tristan, Alex is wrapped around her back.

“Congrats on the win! But more importantly, for getting the girl.” Chelsea pulls back before planting a kiss on my cheek, her arm around me. Her smile fades, and she glowers, pointing a finger at Tristan. “Don’t hurt her, or I’ll run over your dick and balls with ice skates.”

“Ouch.” Alex puts his hands over his junk, wincing. He looks huge in all his goalie padding. “But I wouldn’t turn down a blow job on the ice. Just sayin.”

Chelsea laughs. “You deserve it for the way you played. But I’m not doing it with all these people around.” She winks at him. “Maybe later.”

“Oh my God, Chelsea.” I move closer to Tristan, burying my face against his jersey, not caring that he’s sweaty. “You’re so bad. ”

“What? I like to have a good time.” She looks up at Alex and winks. “Just so you know, I’m possessive and don’t share. Goes along with being an only child. Jordyn and I have that in common.”

Is it my imagination, or does Alex look uncomfortable?

“Yeah, but technically, Jordyn has a stepbrother,” Alex replies, his gaze moving to Tristan as he changes the subject. “Is Josh off the team?”

“I overheard Coach Nelson and Jensen talking. Josh must go to rehab and prove he’s clean before he can play next semester. Personally, I hope Coach continues allowing Jasper to play. He’s a helluva player. The breakaway was fucking genius.”

“Yeah, but you bundled that player, giving him a clear shot.” Alex raises his hand and he and Tristan high-five.

“But can we talk about Tristan’s hat trick?” A dark-haired guy with an easy smile throws an arm around Tristan’s shoulder. “Dude is my idol. And I wouldn’t have had the breakaway if not for him clearing the way.”

Tristan gives him a broad smile, but the faint blush on his cheeks has my toes curling in my shoes as I lean into him, constantly needing to touch him. His humility and gratitude are two of my favorite traits, and they make me love him more.

“Jasper, this is my girlfriend, Jordyn. Jordyn, this is Jasper Ryan.”

“Hi, Jasper.” I stick out a hand. “It’s nice meeting you.”

“Don’t get any ideas, Ryan. Jordyn’s my bestie.” Alex chirps, a wide grin on his face.

“I’m gonna knock your teeth down your throat.” Tristan tightens his arm around me, glaring at Alex, as Chelsea and I burst into laughter.

Jasper puts his hands in the air. “I’m not getting in the middle of this.” His warm gaze meets mine before he glances at Tristan. When he nods, Jasper clasps my hand, shaking it. “ Hey, Jordyn. Nice to meet you. Heard lots of things about you.”

“All good things, I hope,” I joke as I release his sweaty palm.

“Of course.” His friendly grin makes me like him immediately. He stares at me for a few beats, a contemplative look on his face. “I know this may sound intrusive and bold, but I heard you’re a tutor. Can you recommend someone who could tutor me in my Intro to Sociology class? Professor Kennedy is a hard ass.” He runs a hand through his hair, looking distressed. “I went to Matt a few times. He’s okay, but Sociology isn’t his strongest subject. He’s more a math and science guy.”

“Oh, have you met Felicity Evans? She’s double majoring in Sociology and Psychology. She’s amazing.”

“No, I haven’t.” Hope lights up his eyes.

Tristan grins. “I’ll text you her name so you can set up tutoring appointments. Do you know how to do that?”

He shakes his head. “Not really. Matt was recommended to me by Coach for my biology class. He gave Matt my phone number, and we texted, setting up our sessions that way.” His brows draw in as he contemplates Tristan. “No offense, but why did you need tutoring?”

“I needed an excuse to be around her.” Tristan squeezes me before giving me a kiss.

“Ahh. Well, damn. Maybe I can get a tutor and a girlfriend.” He punches Tristan’s arm, laughing.

Tristan smirks at him. “You never know.” His eyes drop to mine. “Sometimes, unconventional meetings can lead to the best things.”
