LUCAS

T ugging the corner of the blanket, Lucas smoothed out the edges and patted it lightly when he was done.

“There! That looks much better”, Lucas said to himself, feeling pleased that everything looked perfect.

Why was he feeling so nervous? He loved Hairspray and loved sing-alongs. He hadn’t attended one since he made his escape from Los Angeles. Back before he ran away from… him .

He still hated saying his name. It was as though saying it out loud might somehow alert him to his whereabouts and summon him. Like the devil materializing when you wanted to make a deal, so would his ex if he thought about him for too long.

It had been about two months since that frightening night, and Lucas was finally starting to feel as though he could breathe again.

He was beginning to make friends—well, friends with the big, scary guys at the bar.

He was also starting to save some money and, perhaps, even opening his heart once more.

Too bad it was for a guy who was straight, had a child, and was not interested in gay men.

Well… are you really sure about that? He did seem to enjoy that hand job you gave him a few weeks ago.

Yeah, and then he freaked out and ran away.

That morning had probably just been a moment of convenience. Caden was horny and figured, “Hey, why not let the horny gay guy jack me off?”

It happened all the time. Straight men taking advantage of a convenient blow job or hand job. And why not? They got to bust a nut and spent the rest of the day feeling like king shit, knowing that they made some gay boy’s fantasy come true by feeding them their cock.

Lucas had fooled around with enough “not gay” straight men to recognize the signs.

He and a few of his friends had attended a hockey game during their first year of college, but they had no interest in watching the actual game. The five of them had scored cheap tickets and spent the game drinking beer and chatting about overly enthusiastic hockey fans.

The night was fun. He couldn’t exactly remember which team won, but he really didn’t care when it got down to it. Following the game, his friends had suggested stopping in at the sports pub next door to continue with their drinking fest.

So, five theater majors made their way next door and ordered a pitcher of beer—just like any heterosexual man would do. After cheersing and slamming down their mugs, they began chugging their beers and continued on with their queerfest.

It was only after about an hour that Lucas noticed a large, burly man with a neatly trimmed beard wearing a ball cap, staring at him from across the bar.

At first, Lucas was convinced that the man was staring at someone else, but when the man grabbed his crotch and then nodded toward the back door, Lucas finally made the connection.

He made up an excuse, then slipped out back, hoping to run into the sports-cap-wearing beast of a man.

“Took you long enough,” a rough voice said from the shadows. The man stepped forward, his face barely visible in the dim light cast from the bar. “Been tryin’ to get your attention all night.”

“Well, here I am,” Lucas responded, nervous as ever.

He had never really hooked up with a random guy before, especially out in the back of a bar. It was both exciting and terrifying at the same time.

“Just so you know, I’m straight. I don’t kiss. I don’t suck cock, but I’ll let you get down on your knees and blow me.”

It was clear to Lucas that this was going to be all one-sided. The big burly dude was going to get to bust his load while Lucas would remain untouched and do all the work.

He hoped that the man’s dick would be worth the effort.

“Sure thing,” Lucas said, sinking down to his knees.

Perhaps, one day, a hot, aggressive man will want to return the favor to him.

At least he had his fantasies.

“Lucas!” A high-pitched squeal rang out, startling Lucas from his thoughts and scaring half the birds that had been drinking water from a fountain in the park.

Lucas stood, smiling.

“Lizzy!” Lucas greeted, spreading his arms and letting the little girl barrel into his chest. “How’s it going, my little peanut?”

“Sooo good! Mommy said that I could watch the funny movie with you and Daddy. And then Daddy bought us some gummies and sour candies and even candy bracelets!” she screamed, holding up her arm to show off her latest piece of jewelry.

Lucas looked up at Caden, who was carrying his own blanket and what looked like a daddy’s bag of children’s treats.

“Looks like Daddy got you all the essentials,” Lucas noted, giving Cade a wink. “You’re going to need all that sugar to give you lots of energy to keep dancing with Daddy and me!”

“Haha. Fat chance. This butt don’t move like that,” Caden added, giving his butt a little shake.

Lizzy laughed and clasped her hands over her mouth.

“Oh, I’m sure it’s got some awesome moves,” Lucas noted, his cheeks quickly turning a mild shade of pink.

Caden opened his mouth but quickly closed it again, seeming to decide against voicing whatever dirty comment had surely just sprung to mind in that mischievous head of his.

They both stared at each other as Caden fought his inner devil. It appeared that Daddy Caden had rules when it came to acting appropriately around his daughter.

Seeing this side of Cade was extremely sexy. Fuck, he was a goner.

The butterflies fluttering in Lucas’s stomach were in full party mode. Damn, he hadn’t felt this nervous about a hangout since he was a teenager going on his first date with a boy.

Relax. You’re just watching a sing-along with a dude and his little girl. This is not a date. He didn’t ask you out, don’t forget.

No, but he did insist that he join them today. He wasn’t subtle about it either. What straight man insists on having another dude come and watch a musical with him and his daughter? None.

Caden laid out the second blanket he was carrying and organized himself nice and close to where Lucas was sitting.

The park was starting to fill up—mostly parents with small children and a few curious people who happened to be passing by on their afternoon walk.

A large movie screen and two huge speakers had been set up along the far side of the park, optimizing as much of the space as possible for viewers and patrons selling candy and snacks.

“Hey! Is that?” Lucas asked, pointing at the man connecting the speakers to some additional equipment.

“Yeah, that’s Marcus. He loans out his speakers to the library for these movie nights and sing-alongs.”

Lucas’s head snapped in Caden’s direction.

“You mean you knew about this event already?”

Caden shrugged. “Yeah, he’s been helping out with the event for years.

We also do barbecues, toy drives, and even a storytime with Santa, come Christmas.

You should see Ace when he’s dressed in his little elf costume.

Talk about a feisty little twink.” Caden leaned back on his hands as they chatted.

“Why didn’t you say something the other night?”

“Oh. I wasn’t planning on coming to this event. Sing-alongs are not really my thing.” He straightened up, then leaned in close so that his daughter couldn’t hear. “I do have balls, you know.”

Lucas turned and shook his head. So much toxic masculinity. It was both annoying and a turn-on.

Sometimes, Lucas wondered if he might be fucked in the head.

“And one day, your balls will be big enough to do this!” Lucas stood and reached into a bag he had propped at the side of his blanket. “Hey, Lizzy, how do you feel about dressing up and helping me show your dad how this song is supposed to be sung?”

Lizzy’s eyes went wide as she spotted the large blue wig Lucas was holding out to her.

“Yes!!” she shrieked, tearing the wig from Lucas’s hand and throwing it onto her head lopsided.

Caden laughed.

“Here, let me help.” Lucas straightened out the wig he had happened to find at a thrift shop a few days earlier.

Once she was all fixed and fastened correctly, Lucas pulled out his own bright-pink beehive wig he had found, thankfully, this morning, at the same shop.

When he decided to join Cade and his daughter, he ran to the shop early in the morning, hoping to buy another wig.

Miraculously, he found the sucker stashed behind a top hat and a Jason hockey mask.

“I like your wig,” a little girl said next to them as she struggled with a thin scarf her mom was trying to fasten to her head.

“Would you like some help, ma’am?” Lucas asked, walking over to the woman sitting next to them.

“Oh, that would be lovely. I’ve seen this once in a movie, but I don’t know how to make it stay up.”

Lucas smiled. He grabbed three bobby pins from his magic bag—because you must always come prepared—and began maneuvering the scarf around the little girl’s hair.

Once he had finished helping the little girl, he glanced at Cade, who was leaning back on his elbows and smiling up at him.

God, the man looked stunning. He wore a tight white shirt under a checkered button-up that hung open loosely at his sides. In addition, he wore a pair of tight blue jeans that hugged his thick thighs and seemed to cradle his bulge as if the material were trying to snuggle up against his junk.

It wasn’t that long ago that Lucas had been cradling that junk as well. Talk about a fantasy come true.

“Care to join us?” Lucas asked, reaching out toward the hunky piece of man-bait.

A pair of bright-blue sapphires stared back at him, looking entertained.

“Nah, I think I’ll sit out the opening number. See how you professionals do it.”

“Yeah, it’s probably best that you watch Lizzy and me first. We wouldn’t want you to pull a hip.”

Lizzy giggled as she took Lucas’s hand. “Come, let’s go dance by the screen!”

The next thing Lucas knew, he was being pulled through a maze of blankets and bodies, collecting children and kidnapped parents as he and Lizzy made their way down to the front.

Once they reached their destination, a crowd of screaming kiddies and dancers unleashed havoc on the park, rocking and laughing and screaming.

Lucas loved it.

Glancing back over his shoulder, he couldn’t help but notice the huge smile plastered on Caden’s face as he watched the chaos—or should he say “kiddy talent show”—begin.
