How was it possible for one man to be so freakin’ good-looking? His eyes were a captivating aqua-blue that resembled the beaches in Fiji—not that Lucas had ever been. And Cade’s sexy beard added a sense of roughness that made Lucas’s dick extremely hard.
Then there were the bulging muscles. It was clear that the man spent hours in the gym daily, perfecting every curve and indent in his gorgeous, manly body. Gay men and women everywhere thanked him.
Having Caden’s body only a few inches from his was torture. It was like holding a chilled glass of water in front of a man who had been wandering the desert for two weeks and not allowing him to drink. The pain was excruciating.
Ouch!
That… was real pain.
“Shit! Sorry!” Cade blurted, horrified after stepping on Lucas’s toes for the third consecutive time in a row.
Lucas couldn’t help but smile. He would gladly take any form of physical contact from Caden—even the kind that brought physical pain and discomfort to his body.
Pain and discomfort. Now his ass was taking notice.
“You’re doing great. Just focus on my eyes and let my body guide you.” He didn’t have the heart to tell Cade that he was a horrible dancer. It had taken all of Cade’s courage to dance with another man, so Lucas was going to do everything he could to boost the man’s ego.
“Don’t worry if you can’t get it, dude,” Jake said next to them. “Dudes weren’t meant to dance together, so that’s why you aren’t in step with each other.”
Lucas was getting tired of Jake’s homophobic comments and piggish ways. He was getting close to ending this lesson.
“There’s nothing wrong with two dudes dancing. Actually, I find it quite hot watching two guys together. If you don’t smarten up, Jake, I’m going to go join Cade and Luc in the middle of their hot man-sandwich,” Alexis scolded.
Lucas got the sense that Alexis was a little adventurous when it came to sex. If she hadn’t already, it was only a matter of time before she convinced Jake to let her peg him. For a petite girl, she could be a total powerhouse.
“Do you hear that, Luc? Alexis is up for a little three-way with you and me. Now all we have to do is send Jake out for a pack of smokes,” Caden noted, giving them all an evil grin.
Could he ever sleep with a girl just to get naked with Cade? No. Definitely not. He was a three-star gay and planned on remaining that way . He had never fucked a girl, kissed a girl, and was born via C-section.
“As flattering as that sounds, I’m not really one for sharing,” Lucas answered.
Caden’s lips turned up in a mischievous smirk.
Was he… pleased?
Caden turned toward Alexis as he stumbled over Lucas’s feet. “Sorry, but it sounds like you’ll have to continue being disappointed with Jake’s lovemaking skills.”
Jake flipped them both the finger.
The music continued as Lucas gave instructions to the couple and continued to encourage Cade with his movements.
It was strange. Never in a million years would Lucas have imagined that he would be dancing with any of the guys he worked with at the bar, least of all the hot-as-fuck bouncer with dangerously smooth hips and deliciously kissable lips.
And the way that Cade kept his eyes locked with his…
Fuck. And those strong hands gripping his body…
Eyes still locked with his partner, Lucas concentrated on not popping a boner or leaning forward and kissing the man. He was pretty sure that was instant grounds for death.
For a straight man, Caden seemed pretty comfortable being so close and intimate with Lucas. In the beginning, his body was tense, and his heartbeat was racing, but as time passed by, Caden seemed to relax and become more comfortable with having a man as a dance partner.
Lucas had to admit, the past few weeks, he had been nervous as shit around the hunky tattooed beefcake, partly because he was turned-on as fuck, and partly because he was afraid to get close to another alpha male.
His ex was an alpha. It was one of the things that turned him on so much.
He knew that Cade was straight but still worried about how he might be treated. Alpha straight men didn’t exactly have the best track record when it came to drooling gay men.
But seeing Cade today and seeing the generous kindness he was showing his friends, Lucas was starting to feel more comfortable around the tatted biker.
Now, if he could just get his dick to obey and not threaten to stab Caden in the thigh, they might have a chance at being friends.
“Shit! Is that the time?” Alexis cried out, staring at the small digital clock that sat on one of the shelves. “We got to go meet Mom and Dad for lunch in an hour.”
Disappointed, Lucas pulled away from Cade and tried to act normal. He was already missing the feeling of having Caden’s hand in his and their bodies only inches apart.
The man even smelled great, like Irish Spring soap and leather.
“Thanks again for the lessons, Luc. Think we can meet again later in the week?”
“For sure,” Lucas answered, turning off the music and trying not to gaze longingly over at Caden.
“How about I walk you home?” Caden offered, startling Lucas and giving him a mini-panic attack.
Heat rushed through Lucas’s cheeks. There was no way he wanted Caden to walk him home and discover that he was living in a barn! How embarrassing.
“Umm, actually, it’s alright. I have a few errands to run before work tonight, but thanks for offering.”
Alexis and Jake disappeared into the house while Caden followed Lucas out onto the sidewalk.
“It’s okay. I really don’t mind joining you.”
“No. Don’t worry about it. I’ve got a lot to do and don’t want to drag you around with me.”
He would have loved to spend more time with Cade, but he didn’t want him to see where he lived, and he didn’t have extra cash to spend pretending to buy shit he didn’t need.
As if sensing his trepidation, Caden finally gave up and relented.
“Fine. In that case, here,” Caden said, stopping for a moment and reaching into his back pocket. He pulled out a small cell phone and passed it over to Lucas. “I got you this.”
Lucas stared down at the cell in Caden’s hand and wondered what the heck was going on.
“I know you don’t have a cell, so I figured you could use this. Don’t worry. It’s new, and it’s a burner phone, just in case you’re worried about people tracking your movements or the government spying on you.” Caden let out a soft chuckle.
He stared at Cade for a moment, unsure of how to react. He needed a cell phone, and the gesture was both kind and extremely moving, but he didn’t want to have to explain to Cade why he couldn’t buy a cell phone on his own. The truth was both embarrassing and degrading.
“I… ah…” Still no words came to him.
His heart pounded in his chest as he fought the urge to leap into the man’s arms and hug him… and also run away.
“Here,” Cade said, placing the phone into the palm of his hand. “I loaded it up with three hundred dollars’ worth of minutes, so that should last you a bit of time. I also programmed my number into your cell so you can text me if you need anything.”
Lucas stared at him with such confusion. There was a flurry of emotions currently coursing through his body.
Why was this guy, he barely knew, being so damn nice to him?
Should he accept the gift?
Would Caden take offense if he didn’t?
Why would this man, who owed him nothing, do such an incredibly kind thing for him?
He wasn’t used to people being so nice.
In Los Angeles, people tended to prioritize their own self-interests. They perceived each interaction as a chance to enhance their image and fulfill their own personal desires.
People didn’t just buy you coffees and cell phones without ulterior motives.
But what possible ulterior motive could Caden have?
Lucas wasn’t rich; he didn’t own anything.
He didn’t even have a goddamn credit card!
He had to stop using his cards the night he left his ex.
He’d withdrawn the three grand he’d saved up over the years, so he at least had money to live off until he found a job and could get back on his feet.
Paying in cash was always the safest bet.
Thinking of all this, Lucas was reminded just how fucked-up his life really was. The realization made him feel even more depressed.
“I… really can’t accept this,” he finally said, staring at the cell and trying not to tear up.
Lucas felt two fingers graze the underside of his chin and gently lift his face upward.
“You can, and you will. At the bar, we’re a family. We help each other out. I don’t know much about you or where you came from, but I do recognize when someone is going through some shit. So this is my way of helping to make things just a bit easier for you.”
Lucas felt his eyes begin to water. He truly appreciated the help and couldn’t believe that someone he hardly knew was willing to help him out.
“There are no strings attached, no judgment. Just one friend helping out another.”
Caden’s words meant the world to him. Knowing that someone cared enough to want to help gave him hope—hope that he might one day see a better future.
“Thank you, Cade. I really appreciate this,” Lucas said, holding up the cell phone.
“It’s no big deal.”
But it was. A big fuckin’ deal.
“Catch you later, kid,” Caden added, giving him one of his panty-dropping smiles.
Lucas felt his heart swoon as he watched his sexy knight in shining armor strut away.
He was in such big trouble.
Flipping open his new phone, Lucas opened the contacts folder. And there, standing all by its lonesome, were two little words, “Sexy-ass Bouncer.”
Smiling, he selected the name and shot off a text.
Lucas: Who Dis?
He watched as Caden pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and slowed. Stopping, he turned and shot Lucas one of the sexist smirks he had ever seen.
Caden typed out a message quickly before shoving his phone back in his pocket.
Lucas’s phone dinged.
Sexy-ass Bouncer: I thought the name said it all.
Shaking his head, Lucas turned and began walking in the opposite direction.
Why were all the charming guys he liked always straight?
