“She’s stubborn as hell, though.”
He smirks. “Yeah, but we know how to wear her down.”
The conversation drifts, easy and familiar, both of us drinking, talking in low voices. The night stretches on.
Then—soft footsteps.
We both turn.
Daisy stands at the bottom of the stairs, drowning in a T-shirt, hair a mess, her small kitten cradled in her arms.
She squints at us. “How the hell are we here?”
Beau chuckles. “You don’t remember?”
She shakes her head, then looks at me, smiling a little. “Hey, Mason.”
My chest tightens. “Hey, baby.”
She shifts Slim in her arms, glancing around. “How am I in your house right now?”
“You passed out,” says Beau.
She blinks. “Oh.”
Then she walks toward me, slow, like she’s still half-asleep, and presses a soft kiss to my lips.
“You okay?” I murmur against her mouth.
She nods. “Just a little nausea earlier. It passed.”
Her skin is warm, her lips soft, and she looks thoroughly fucked, glowing in a way that makes my dick ache.
Beau watches, smirking, and I just know he’s got something smart to say. But for once, he stays quiet.
“Where is Kieran?” she asks.
“Night swim,” Beau says, nodding toward the pool.
We both look just as Kieran dives in, cutting through the water like it’s nothing. Daisy smiles. “That looks like fun. Why are you two in here?”
I shake my head. “Hell no. It’s the middle of the night.”
She turns to me, presses a kiss to my mouth, quick and teasing. “I think I’m gonna join him.”
Before either of us can stop her, she puts Slim down and races to the pool. Beau and I follow her, watching, tongue-tied, as she yanks the oversized T-shirt over her head.
And that’s it. That’s all she had on.
“Fucking hell,” I mutter as she sprints forward and jumps into the pool.
Beau huffs out a breath. “Thank God I can heat the water up.”
“Bless you,” I tell him, already moving.
She surfaces with a gasp, hair slicked back, cheeks pink from the temperature change.
Kieran grins at her, pulling her into his arms. She laughs, legs wrapping around his waist as he kisses her.
