“Trouble, you can’t rush perfection,” I shoot back, smirking as the door swings open.
Her mouth parts slightly as she steps inside, her eyes sweeping over the space. “Holy shit,” she mutters, turning in a slow circle.
It’s the same reaction every time, but coming from her, it hits differently.
“Big windows, huh?” she says, walking toward the floor-to-ceiling glass that shows off the city skyline. “The view’s insane.”
“Not bad,” I say, shoving my hands in my pockets, watching her. “But it’s better now.”
She glances back, smirking. “You use that line on everyone?”
“Wouldn’t work if I did,” I counter with a grin.
Her laugh is soft, almost like she’s trying not to give me too much. She wanders a little more, fingers trailing along the back of the couch. “You live like this all the time?”
“Pretty much.”
“Must suck,” she says, her tone dripping with sarcasm as she peers into the open-plan kitchen.
“You thirsty?” I ask, heading toward the fridge.
“Water’s good,” she says, still taking it all in.
While I grab a bottle, she disappears into the hallway. When I catch up, she’s standing at the door to the indoor pool, her hand on the frame like she’s afraid to step inside.
“You’re kidding me,” she breathes, her eyes wide as she takes it all in—the glass roof, the pool glinting under the lights, the stars twinkling above.
“Not bad, huh?” I pass her the water, my fingers brushing hers.
“Not bad?” She shakes her head, laughing softly. “It’s fucking incredible.”
I watch as she uncaps the bottle and takes a long sip. I need to look away, but I don’t.
She catches me staring and tilts her head, her lips curving into a wicked little smile. “You just gonna stand there and watch me all night?”
“Fuck no, Trouble,” I say, stepping closer.
Her laugh turns into a gasp as I pull her to me, my hands sliding around her waist. She’s so soft, so warm, and when she giggles, it’s game over. My mouth is on hers before I even think about it.
Her arms wind around my neck, her nails grazing my skin as she presses against me. I lift her like she weighs nothing and her legs wrap around my waist. Her heels dig into my back, sharp enough to hurt, but I don’t care.
“You’re so goddamn sexy,” I say against her lips, walking us to the lounge chair by the pool.
“Yeah?” she whispers, her breath hot against my ear.
“Yeah.” My lips trail down her neck, tasting her skin as she tilts her head back, giving me more.
I sit, letting her settle into my lap, her hips grinding against me in a way that makes it impossible to think straight.
“Trouble, we’re drunk,” I say, my voice rough. “We can stop.”
Her fingers tangle in my hair, tugging hard enough to sting. “Don’t stop, Beau. Please.”
That’s it. That’s the fucking line.
My hands tug off her blouse as I kiss her harder. Her back arches when my fingers slide over her bare skin, unclasping her bra with a flick.
She whimpers, her nails dragging down my chest. “Take this off,” she murmurs, pulling at my jacket.
