Page 20 of Pieces into Place (Moonflower Cove Romance #16)
Blake
B ack at home, Blake spent a few extra moments with each of her kids as she tucked them into bed.
She wasn’t religious by any means, but she thanked the universe for making her their mama.
Harper, Archer, and Reese meant the world to Blake, and she hoped her new breakthrough with Isla and Vera helped her be a better mama.
Tucking Harper into bed, Blake kissed her forehead as she sat on the edge of the bed.
“I love you, Harp.”
“I love you, Mama.”
“Hey, you want to feel something crazy?” Blake winked at her as she looked down at her belly. Harper had loved feeling the twins when Alexis was pregnant and had asked Blake multiple times a week when she could feel her new baby sister. She sat up on her elbow as she grinned up at Blake.
“Is it my new baby sister?”
“It is. Give me your hand.”
Tenderly, Blake took Harper’s hand and placed it where she’d been feeling the movement for the last several hours. Harper giggled, as did Blake .
“It feels so weird.”
“I know, right?” Blake joked as she laughed. “You’re the best big sister ever, Harper.”
Harper tossed her hair over her shoulder dramatically with her hand, looking exactly like a mini-Alexis as she said, “I know.”
“You’re too much like your mommy.”
“I know that , too. Mama?”
“Hmm?”
“Are you more like Nana or Grammy?”
Her question was so innocent that it caught Blake off guard.
Neither she nor Alexis really talked to Harper about Blake’s dad, so it was safe to assume Harper just thought Isla and Vera were her only parents.
Just like Alexis and Blake were her only parents.
The innocence of the question melted Blake’s heart, and she was so thankful she was helping raise the next generation of loving humans.
“Well, I think I’m like Grammy, don’t you? Do you think we look alike?”
“Yeah,” Harper giggled as she laid back down in bed. “And you look like Mason and Ellie and Brayden.”
“What about Evie?”
Harper shrugged, looking uncertain.
“I think she looks like Nana, don’t you?”
Nodding, Harper smiled up at her before it turned into a yawn. It was well past her regular bedtime, but they’d made the exception since school was out of the holidays, anyway. As she kissed Harper goodnight, she petted Tucker on the head before turning to leave the room.
Alexis was standing in the doorframe, looking sleepy but still smiling.
Blake took her hand as she pulled Harper’s door closed just enough so Tucker could get out if he needed to go potty.
They walked down the stairs together and made their way over to the couch where they sat facing each other.
While Alexis sat cross-legged, Blake sat on her right leg and leaned into the back of the couch.
Picking up one of the pillows behind her; Alexis clutched it to her body as she smiled at Blake.
“You look so much lighter, babe. Like the burden you’ve been carrying is finally gone.”
“I feel lighter. Even with the added thirty pounds,” she laughed, pointing at her stomach as Alexis rolled her eyes. “But seriously. I needed that. To be able to talk to them and let them in. I didn’t know what I was missing.”
“If only you had listened to your wife who kept telling you that they wanted nothing more than to love you where you’re at.”
“I know, I know.” Blake dramatically sighed. “My wife is always right. I don’t know why I don’t listen to her.”
“Honestly, I don’t either,” Alexis giggled. “But I’m so happy you figured it out on your own and I didn’t have to kill you.”
“Thank you for not killing me.”
“Anytime, babe.”
“Speaking of babies, our child has been so active today.”
Lifting up her sweatshirt, Blake let her belly bump out as Alexis scooted closer to her.
She placed her cold hands on either side of Blake’s belly.
Blake gently guided her hand to the spot where she’d been feeling the baby the most and waited for any movement.
It was well worth the wait to watch Alexis’s eyes light up so brightly as the baby moved under her hand.
“Oh, hi, sweet baby girl. It’s Mommy,” Alexis cooed at her stomach, making Blake overly emotional. Again. “I love you so much, baby.”
“You’re such a wonderful mom, Lex.”
“And you’re such a wonderful mama. You know,” Alexis smiled up at her, “this is the first time I’ve felt one of our babies move from the outside. It’s amazing.”
“I’m so happy you’re able to feel her now. ”
“Me, too. It’s amazing to watch you go through this. Now I know what it was like for you when I was pregnant with the twins.”
“Except I was an emotional mess because that was my first time being around anyone pregnant and you were growing two babies.”
“Not as big as Vera’s babies were, though. I still don’t know how she did that,” Alexis winced. “You, however, my sweet Blake, are carrying this child amazingly. It’s been so fun to watch your belly grow and see you change for the better. It’s been an honor to watch.”
“You and Vera have to stop saying sweet things like that while I’m pregnant,” Blake laughed as she wiped a tear from her eyes. “She had me crying earlier, too.”
“Tell me what you and Vera and Isla talked about.”
As Blake recounted their conversations to Alexis, she could feel Alexis gently rubbing her thumbs up and down her stomach.
It was comforting in a way only Alexis could do.
Blake felt her entire body grow more at ease the longer she talked.
It was as if each brick from the wall she’d erected around herself for protection was finally falling away. And Blake had never felt better.
“I’m so happy for you, babe. You’ve needed this.”
“We’ve needed this,” Blake corrected as she snuggled into Alexis. They readjusted their position, but Alexis kept one hand on Blake’s stomach. “I’m sorry I put such a strain on our family. I didn’t mean to do that.”
“I know you didn’t.”
“Things are going to be better now.”
“They already are.” Alexis lifted Blake’s chin to kiss her.
It was soft at first, but it quickly grew more passionate.
Blake felt Alexis run her hands through her hair and for the first time in months, Blake knew exactly what she needed from Alexis.
Thankfully, Alexis seemed to know that before she said anything. “Bedroom?”
“Bedroom,” Blake repeated .
Alexis helped Blake to her feet as they hurried off to the bedroom like newlyweds.
It had been too long since they’d last had sex.
Blake cringed to think it was before her IVF procedure, but she knew it was true.
How she’d let months go by without making love to her wife was beyond Blake.
Although, given Blake’s headspace over the last few months, she couldn’t be too hard on herself.
Once they were in the bedroom with the door closed and locked, Alexis resumed kissing Blake as she gently backed her up to the bed. When her knees hit the side of the bed, Blake sat. Alexis straddled her legs, turning Blake on more than she was prepared for.
“Okay, what do you need?” Alexis asked in a low growl as she kissed Blake’s ear. “We’ve never done this with you pregnant.”
“I’m sorry.”
“No,” Alexis shook her head as she put a finger to Blake’s lips. “I didn’t say that to make you feel bad. I said it because I don’t know what you want right now and I want to give you what you need. You know how my needs changed during pregnancy. I’m just checking in with your needs.”
“Lex,” she moaned, turned on by the words Alexis was saying. “I need you.”
“I’m right here, baby.”
Without words, they took off their clothes.
Blake watched, breathing rapidly as Alexis took her sweatshirt off and tossed it onto the floor.
Her body looked stunning, and Blake couldn’t wait to get her hands on it again.
As Alexis pulled Blake’s shirt off, Blake was suddenly keenly aware of her pregnant belly and the fact she hadn’t had sex while pregnant before and had no idea what to expect.
Thankfully, Alexis didn’t seem to be concerned about that.
She helped Blake out of her pants before laying her down again.
Blake scooted up the bed, perching up on her elbows as she looked over her belly at Alexis crawling up to her.
Alexis was careful not to put her weight on her stomach as she kissed Blake.
Her lips made a trail of kisses all over Blake’s body, from her lips to her ears to her breasts and to her baby bump.
Alexis straddled Blake’s legs as she ran her hand softly over Blake’s skin.
“You have the most adorable baby bump. Seriously. You look just like…”
“The picture of Isla when she was pregnant with Mason,” they said in unison, laughing.
“Exactly,” Alexis grinned up at her. “Let me know if something doesn’t feel good, or you need more or less of something, okay?”
“You know my body.”
“Indeed, I do.”
And indeed Alexis did. She wasted little time teasing Blake and instead went in for what she knew Blake liked.
Even with the pregnancy hormones coursing through her body, having Alexis’s fingers inside her felt amazing to Blake.
With each thrust of her fingers, Blake could feel her body coming undone.
There was no way in hell she’d ever wait months to have sex with her wife again.
Alexis knew Blake’s body better than she knew her own. She knew what Blake liked and needed before Blake ever said anything. Which was why Blake wasn’t surprised when Alexis began sucking on her clit.
“ Lex ,” Blake moaned as her back arched off the bed. It had been so long since her last orgasm that Blake’s body seemed to be on heightened edge. Each flick of Alexis’s fingers or tongues made her moan. Sometimes so loud she worried she would wake the kids.
“Babe, you’ve never been this loud before,” Alexis smirked up over Blake’s belly. “I love it.”
“Your hands are magic.”
