“I don’t know. Maybe.”
“If you do, let me know.”
He nodded and loosely curled his fingers around my wrist, holding onto me while I continued to graze my thumb across his cheek.
“I don’t want to tell him about David. It’ll open too many boxes.”
“You don’t have to tell him. Grayson pretty much read him the riot act, and I’m fairly certain Miles is going to dress him down later.”
“Is that a sex thing?” Wesley asked, mouth twitching into a smirk.
“It means to like…reprimand someone,” I said.
He scrunched his nose and leaned into my hand. “That makes no sense.”
“I think the rest of the night will be better,” I told him.
“I should get back. They’ll come looking.”
I shook my head, shuffling closer. “Grayson sent me to find you. We have some time.”
“Enough time for a kiss?” he asked, ever hopeful.
“Just one,” I said softly, slanting our mouths together and licking past the seam of his lips.
“One’s not enough,” he murmured, scooting to the edge of the counter, hooking his legs around my waist and hauling our bodies together. “It’s never enough with you.”
“Just for now, sweetheart.” I ended the kiss, tracing the soft puffiness in his lower lip before I stepped away.
Wesley’s cheeks were flushed, and I could feel mine probably looked the same.
“You’ve never called me sweetheart before,” he said, hopping onto his feet. He adjusted the bulge between his legs and I made sure to do the same.
“Did you like it?”
I hadn’t meant to. The endearment had simply fallen out of my mouth from necessity.
“I didn’t hate it. Sweetheart feels boring, though.”
“Oh?”
He nodded, sliding past me and pulling open the bathroom door. “I think you can do better.”
And then he left me alone, a half-hard cock between my legs and a violent crack in the deepest part of my heart because with that kiss and those words, the comfort and the softness he’d shown, I realized I was starting to develop feelings for him and that would never end any way besides bad.
CHAPTERFIFTEEN
Wesley
I survived dinner.
Hendrix remained none the wiser. If anything, he was pleasantly subdued after my return from the bathroom. Dinner was enjoyable, as good as it had been the first time we went there. Maybe the attraction that simmered between Colin and me made the meal even more delicious. Keeping secrets turned me on, apparently. That was probably dangerous, but I didn’t care.
After we finished eating, all of us said our goodbyes, and I climbed into the car with Grayson to head home. My phone immediately vibrated, a message from Colin asking me to come over.
“Boyfriend?” Grayson asked, stabbing his finger into the button that unrolled my window.
Closing my eyes, I let my arm fall outside, fingers tapping against the cool metal of the car door. I didn’t think I would ever get tired of the weather in California.
