Page 85 of Nailing Heat
He winks and walks over to grab his bag before exiting the apartment.
“Fuck, girl, that was hot,” Hendrix replies. “He was like, drilling you into the wall.”
A flush covers my face, and I have to look away from my friends. I’m more than a little embarrassed by the compromising position they found me in.
“You don’t need to be embarrassed. I remember you caught Danny and me mauling each other one or two times when you were over at his place,” she reminds me.
“I sure did.” I shake my head. “I can’t believe that you all walked in on that.”
“Nothing to be embarrassed about, looks like he likes taking care of our girl,” Cassie tells me. She walks over and wraps me in a side hug. “Good for you, girl.”
I smile brightly at her, “Thanks. It has been wonderful since that night he brought me home from the Backwoods.”
Hendrix rubs her hands together. “We gotta get to practice. But you know you owe us a dish session afterwards.”
“Oh yeah, you do. And you’re not getting out of it. Not after what we walked in on,” Mac teases.
“Okay, okay. Let’s go before you all are late to practice and Watts gets pissed,” I tell them.
“It’s fine. We can tell them we had to peel you off the wall after Dex pinned you there with his dick,” Mac says with a cackle.
“Very funny, let’s not do that.” I feel my cheeks heat again.
“I’m happy for you,” Mac says, smiling at me. “I’ve never seen you so happy.”
“It’s hard to believe that I got this happy with him this fast. But yeah, I’m really happy,” I admit to them.
“Good for you,” Hendrix says patting my shoulder as she moves past me. “Now, let’s get our asses to practice, right, captain?” she calls to Mac.
“Alright, let’s move out, ladies,” Mac says with a giggle.
We barely make it to practice on time, but we do. Thankfully, Watts doesn’t say a word. I sit on the sidelines and watch the practice, taking notes of the new drills the defense is running, but I don’t see Dex. That makes me a little sad because usually he comes out to see me while I’m here watching practice. Just not today. As we’re packing up to leave, I get a text from him.
Dex: Hey, peach, sorry I didn’t get to see you. I was talking with August and Maxwell for most of your practice. Have fun with girls. But save your appetite. I’ll be preparing a feast for you, before I feast on you.
My faces grows hot, and I look around to make sure that no one is watching my reaction to his message. I sigh gratefully, knowing that no one saw me. I bite my lip thinking of how I want to answer him.
Amelia: Sounds promising. I can’t wait to see you later.
I hit send and stow my phone away in my pocket.
“What’s got you grinning like an idiot?” DJ asks me as I begin making my way across the field.
“Nothing, just in a good mood.” I tell her a half truth, hoping she buys it.
“Uh-huh, well, whatever is going on, it suits you,” she says with a wink.
“Thanks.” Thankfully, that’s when Cassie makes her way over to me.
“Are you ready to head out to lunch?” she asks me.
“You bet. Have a good night, DJ,” I tell her before I followCassie off the practice field and over to her Jeep. “I still hate riding in this without doors.”
“You’ll be fine, you big baby,” she tells me after she carefully stows my crutches in the back. “My car is the only one that has enough room for you to stretch your leg out. The other two drive cars that are much smaller.”
“You’ve got me there,” I tell her as she pulls away from the Blaze. I glance back at Dex’s Tesla that is still in the parking lot and wish I was heading out with him. I enjoy my time with my girls, but I would love to finish what we started in the apartment sooner rather than later.
We head towards the Backwoods for some lunch and cocktails. Of course, the subject of today’s lunch is going to be the scene they witnessed when they picked me up.
