Her cheeks flush and her grin widens. “I would like that.”
“Good.” I can’t get over how fast and hard I’ve fallen for this woman. It’s like she was made for me. I don’t think I was ever this sprung on Elise or any other woman that I dated. But the short, spunky blonde that is sitting across from me right now is all I’ve ever wanted.
It almost makes me want to call up my mother and sisters and tell them all about it. But I know they wouldn’t want to hear from me right now. They would probably ask if I planned on treating her better than Elise. The answer would be a resounding yes, but I’m not sure that they would believe me.
Our number is called not long after we order, and I head up to the counter to collect everything. I carry the tray back to her, andI immediately smell the sweet chocolatey croissants. She was right, these do look amazing. I imagine they taste even better.
I rejoin Amelia and begin handing out the food and our beverages. Amelia takes a bite of the croissant immediately and moans.
“Oh my god, this is heaven,” she says, moaning again.
I grin at her. “I’m glad you like it.”
“You have got to take a bite of this; it’s going to change your life.”
I rip a corner of the pastry and place it in my mouth. “You’re right, these are incredible.”
Amelia is busy taking another bite. The gooeyness of the chocolate slides out and covers her chin. Before she can wipe it away, I lean forward and swipe it from her chin. I hold my melted chocolate covered finger out and say, “Here.”
She leans in, taking a hold of my hand to steady it and deep throats my finger. She slides her mouth back to lick the tip of it. I groan, watching the display.
“We can’t have sex in public,” she teases me as she dabs at the corners of her mouth with a napkin.
“Then you better stop doing things like that or I’m bending you over this table and taking you right here. People be damned.”
I see her eyes widen with desire. She swallows not once but twice before she speaks. “That sounds like it would be worth being banned from this place.”
“Don’t tempt me, peach. I’m a man of my word and I will do it.”
“Good to know,” she replies with a wink.
We manage to make it through the rest of breakfast without causing an indecent scene. And she’s right, that’s one of the best breakfasts I’ve had since coming to Tampa. Mostly because I got to watch her seductively eat her fruit from across the table.
She doesn’t know it yet but she’s going to pay for that later.
“Where are we going?” she asks me, when we’re back in the car and heading out onto the highway.
I peek over at her and chuckle. “Do you not like surprises?”
“It’s not that, I wanna know where we’re going,” she says from the passenger seat.
I sigh and consider keeping her in the dark but decide to let her in on my plans for the day. “I thought we could go to the bookstore and get you some new books.”
“Really? What makes you think that I need more books?” she asks me playfully.
“I thought you might appreciate some new reading material to help you pass the time while you’re recovering. And I thought we could maybe act out some of those scenes that you’re reading.”
“And how do you know that there are scenes that we can act out?”
I reach over and see that her shorts have ridden up bit, so I squeeze her bare thigh. “Because I recognize some of the titles of those books and I know what kind of romance novels you are reading. I am all for it, just so you know. So, consider this trip me encouraging you to read so that we can both enjoy the books.”
“And how do you recognize the titles?” she asks.
I can feel her eyes on me. I glance over at her and wink. “Believe it or not, I buy those types of books for my sisters for special occasions. They like to try to make me uncomfortable by making me buy spicy romance for them. Truth be told, I don’t really care what they read and if that’s what they want for Christmas, fine. Just don’t read them to me, is my rule.”
“You’re such a good brother,” she says, leaning over and kissing me on the cheek.
I grin and push the accelerator harder as we speed towards the bookstore. I don’t bother to tell her that my sisters wouldn’t agree with her.
