Page 65 of Monster Daddies
Angry Chef looks even more furious but doesn't argue further. Though he does mutter on his way back to his workstation about how delicious food should be shared.
Kael pulls me into his arms; I wrap mine around him and cuddle closer.
Saint's coming,I tell Kael through our link.
He looks down at me curiously, and I just shrug.I always know where he is, and he'll always be able to find me through our protector bond.
Kael grunts, holding me a little tighter. I run my hands up his chest and around the back of his neck, pulling him down for a gentle kiss. You can do the same if you think of it. Our connection is limitless, Daddy. Our magic has bound us closer than any mate bond.
I seem unable to help feeling jealous. I want you all for myself,he grumbles.
I kiss him again, opening our bond so he can feel all the love and loyalty I feel toward him. He deepens the kiss, and we lose ourselves in each other.
"Aww… look at you two," Saint says as soon as he sees us.
Blushing, I pull away.
"Fuck off, Saint," Kael growls.
"Just saying that you're adorable together."
I giggle. Kael gives me a look that I'm quickly figuring out is his 'Daddy' look. One that promises consequences. After the few swats he's given me so far, I'm not exactly upset that he might spank me. In fact, I'm sort of looking forward to it.
"Do you need something?" Kael asks Saint, looking dangerously angry, though I can feel he's just giving Saint a hard time through our bond. I have to bite my cheek to keep from giggling.
You're awful,I tease through our bond.
He turns from Saint and looks down at me with a brief smirk.
"I merely wanted to let you know that there are rumors about who the strange female in the palace is. Especially since she's been seen with you all cozy like."
A jolt of anxiety hits me like a lightning strike. Both men turn toward me and immediately look ready to tear people apart to protect me from whatever is making me feel this way. I send a soothing calm through the two bonds, letting them see that I'm just anxious about meeting people and being a queen when I'm clueless.
Both men send a wave of calm to me.
"They will love you, little wolf. You have nothing to worry about," Kael says with complete confidence.
Saint nods in agreement. "Everyone is hopeful that you're his mate, but they are confused because they can't smell if you're an Omega or not."
I bite my lip because, out of habit, I've been masking my scent. Not to smell like a Beta, but to not have a scent at all. I can't help my fear of being found out. Not after how I was raised. What if the other Alphas in the pack aren't the same as Kael and Saint? I've never met any Alphas like them, so it's going to take time to trust that this pack is different.
"It's okay. I know you're scared, Sera. You'll see our pack is different," Kael says.
"I think you should introduce her as your Goddess-given mate at dinner," Saint advises.
Kael looks at me, and I can tell he's debating whether ripping the band-aid off is the right thing or if giving me time would be better. I already know that waiting will just make my anxiety grow. The faster I can see his pack and how the Alphas react to a new Omega, the sooner I can relax into my new life.
I take a deep breath and nod in agreement. "I think Saint is right. Your pack deserves answers for one, and for two, I need to meet them to know I'm safe here."
"If that's what you want. No pressure."
I smile up at my mate. "This is my new home. I want to feel comfortable here. And your people deserve to know that you've found your mate."
His responding smile makes my heart skip a beat. "Our people," he corrects. "This is your pack now, too. And soon you'll be their queen."
Another jolt of anxiety fills me, but the calming balm of Kael's faith in me washes it away. Being a queen is not something I ever imagined. Being a mate wasn't even on my radar in any real way, not with how my old pack was. My mom always had faith that I would get my happily ever after. Now I know why. I can't help but wonder why, if she knew I would find my mate outside of the pack, she wouldn't have taken us away to find him.
Kael and Saint do a great job of distracting me until it's time to get ready for dinner. I could just conjure fresh clothes, but I decide that a little break with Kael will be nice. I'm not surprised when Kael picks me up and carries me off to his room. I don't even argue because I know it makes him happy, and frankly, it makes me happy too.
