He sits up so fast my head spins, and we are nose to nose. "First of all, let's get one thing straight. I have one Omega, and that is you and only you. I have never, nor will I ever, knot anyone but my mate. Secondly, what do you mean by Alphas in your pack have harems of Omegas?"
I'm utterly speechless at his response. He's never knotted anyone else? I'm his only? I know we are Goddess-given mates, but that doesn't mean anything to Alphas… does it? Could this man—this king—really be happy with just one woman for all eternity? Forever is a very long time for my kind, and now forKael as well. I feel a moment of regret that I didn't explain things to him. My being half fae makes our bond a little different than mating a full-blooded wolf.
Will he be mad? It's too late now.
"Hey," he says, cupping my face and studying me with concern. I can feel him searching our bond to figure out what's wrong, but he can't get past my curtain. "What's wrong, babygirl? Why are you blocking me?"
I let out a sad sigh. "I don't want you to hate me and what I've done."
"I could never hate you, my love. You're the other half of my soul. There's nothing you could ever do that would make me hate you."
I close my eyes from the intense look he's giving me and drop the curtain in my mind. I let him see my worries and fears. I can feel his surprise when he realizes what it means to be mated to a half-fae, half-wolf hybrid and the magic he has gained just by marking me… near immortality, endurance and strength, the ability to hide his scent and that of others, shifting with clothes with barely a thought, and more.
"That… wow. Why would I be mad about any of that? It sounds like you're the one getting the short end of things here. All I can offer is my kingdom."
I laugh at his dry humor. "You're really not mad? Being mated to me means you'll live a very, very long life. We are talking centuries, not decades."
"Centuries with my beautiful mate? I think I can handle that."
I can feel the enthusiastic honesty pulsing through our bond and happiness. So much happiness. The band around my heart releases, and I let his joy flow through me, lighting up every part of me down to my very soul. I say a silent prayer of thanks to the Moon Goddess for blessing me with such an amazing mate.
Kale flips us so I'm on my back and kisses me with so much need and passion that my toes curl. With our bond open, I can feel his intentions before he starts fucking me with short, hard thrusts. Since we are still knotted together, it's all he can do without hurting me, but it feels no less phenomenal. Even without much room to work, he manages to fuck me into another powerful orgasm. He finds his own release moments later. He rolls us until I'm lying on top of him again in a pile of well-pleased mush. It doesn't take long for sleep to take me.
Chapter Eight
Kael
My sweet little wolf falls asleep almost instantly after another orgasm, which was my intention. I could feel the weight of the world on her small shoulders and knew she needed to escape her worries for a while. She fell asleep with our bond wide open. I could easily pick through her memories and get the answers to my questions, but I refuse to invade her privacy in that way.
Instead, I hold her close and allow my mind to drift to what I've learned. Not only have I gained a mate, but she's shared her magic with me. She thought I'd be mad that she burdened me with it. I'm not exactly sure what gaining magic will mean for me, but knowing that I'll have infinite lifetimes with my Goddess-given mate is more than I could ever ask for.
Sera snuggles into me, breathing in my scent with a smile. Her dreams float through our bond even though I'm not openly trying to pry. I smirk when I realize she's sitting at a small table, enjoying what looks like a honey bun. Even though it's a dream, I can still smell the sweet, spicy scent of honey and cinnamon.
"She's special, you know," a light feminine voice says beside me.
I jump in surprise. "What… how…?" I stutter.
The female wolf smirks. "Magic, of course. My daughter marked you, I see." She tilts her head toward my mating mark.
"Yes, she did," I say with a hint of pride.
"Good. I always knew my Sera was meant for great things. Do you understand the gift she's given you?"
"You mean her magic?"
She shrugs. "Magic and immortality are just part of being fae. I'm talking about her heart. Her soul."
I smile when an older wolf sits across the table and starts talking animatedly with Sera, even though I can't hear what's being said. I'm in her dream, but somehow apart from it too. Somewhere between and somehow speaking with her deceased mother.
"Her father was a good wolf raised in a horrible pack. You need to fix that. Much suffering is happening there. It's why I sent her to you. You've helped the kingdom grow and prosper, but there are some who reject the new ways. Some that have always and will always be evil.
"Sera was able to escape because of her innate magic. The packlands are hidden by powerful witchcraft. Now that she's shared her magic, you'll be able to see the unseen. Fix the broken. I'm entrusting my daughter to your care. Love her, King Kael. Love her and let her lead beside you. Great things will come from your reign. Better than you ever imagined."
Before I can answer, the dreamscape fades, and I awake to a darkened room and my mate missing from my arms. I jerk up and search the room for her. Her scent in bed is old, but I sense nothing but happiness from our bond.
Little mate, where are you?I growl through our bond.
I feel a burst of joy, then her sweet voice fills my mind.Saint showed me to the kitchen. This palace is ridiculous. I got lost twice trying to find it before asking for help.
