Hearing those words out of her mouth had me ready to spill inside her before she could even find her pleasure. I increased the pace of my thrusts and the pressure of my fingers on her clit, teasing it harder and sending her over the edge.
I pushed deep inside her, harder and faster, my eyes closing in bliss as her pussy contracted around me, milking me for all I was worth. Her eyes met mine, glazed over from her orgasm. I was fucking her with desperation. Obsession. I pulled back and thrust back into her, harshly and roughly.
“You take me so well, wife,” I murmured, pounding into her again. I fucked her, moving in and out of her, again and again. Her legs wrapped around me, she moved with me, her nails scraping over my back. “You feel so fucking good, baby.”
I fucked her savagely, like it was our last time. Like it was our first time. My wife’s mouth found mine in a messy kiss, swallowing my grunts as I spilled deep inside her. Six years of abstinence and the end result was my cum painting my new bride’s pretty pussy white.
Her nose brushed over my neck, pressing soft kisses to my throat.
One lifetime wouldn’t be enough with my wife.

I blinked in the darkness, reaching for her. Again.
I lost count of the number of times I’d reached for her throughout the night, losing myself in her body and her moans. Reaching toward the other side of the bed and feeling nothing but sheets, something jackknifed straight through my chest and jerked me up into a seated position.
Holding my breath, I listened for her footsteps. Anything. Glancing at the clock, 5.00 a.m. glowed in ugly red. I got up and slipped on a pair of pajama pants before leaving our bedroom in search of her.
I found her in our son’s bed. Wearing long, checkered pajama pants and a black T-shirt, she slept on top of the covers, her arm around him. They slept in identical positions, with Ares tucked in tight under the sheets.
A smile touched my lips and my chest grew full, seeing them like this. After a lifetime of searching, I finally felt at peace. My world was reduced to this room. These two human beings.
I debated whether or not to take her back to my bed, but decided against it.
Only because I had a diamond smuggler to deal with.
Chapter38
Odette
The next day I woke up to a knock against the door.
I startled, rubbing my eyes, wondering what hotel room we were in. Then I remembered. The Ashford Manor. Byron’s place. Maybe I imagined the knock on the door too.
But then it came again.
I slid out of the bed and rushed to the door, my feet silent against the plush rugs in Ares’s room. My son’s room. It was the most luxurious room I’d ever seen. The Bocote wood furniture—I only recognized it thanks to my father’s hobby of wood carving—paired with the luxurious bed was not only inviting but also comfortable.
Crossing the large sitting room, I rushed to the door before the knocks turned into pounding. Opening the door, I came face-to-face with Winston. He looked like sin in a striped navy suit.
“Winston, what are you doing here?” I hugged the door, stifling a yawn. Gosh, didn’t he believe in sleeping in?
“I’m wondering the same thing,” he retorted dryly, then flicked a glance over his shoulder. “This way.”
He shouldered past me, soldiering into the adjoining sitting area of my son’s bedroom. He always seemed grouchy, but since we barreled into them in New Orleans, I wondered if maybe he wasn’t upset. That Ares wasn’t Billie’s son. Or maybe he was relieved. I had no fucking idea.
“What are you doing?” I asked, flabbergasted when two more men plowed through behind him.
“Put it here in the playroom,” Winston ordered them, ignoring my question. “When my sister-in-law leaves the room, I’ll call you to assemble the piece.”
“What are we assembling?” I inquired of the men, watching them haul two large boxes into the room.
“AThomas the Trainset.” My heartbeat paused, and I stared at the boxes as if they would reveal themselves. “Mr. Ashford wanted them delivered first thing.”
I swallowed, emotions swirling inside me. He noticed how much Ares loved the set. It shouldn’t surprise me. There wasn’t much that usually escaped him, but something about this hit differently. Somewhere deep and tender.
The two men left, leaving me alone with Winston. He shoved a yellow envelope into my chest. “My brother suddenly thinks I’m his delivery boy. He wanted me to give you this.” I took it and peeled it open. “It’s a list and a credit card. He also needs you to fill in a few documents. Our family lawyer will handle your legal name change and—”
