I couldn’t resist an eyeroll.
“I’m so right,” I claimed. “I read you like an open book.”
That seemed to amuse him. “Okay,” he caved. “Since you read me like an open book. What was my first impression of you?”
I snickered. “Considering your welcoming greeting, it must have been fabulous.”
“Maybe I was just blinded by your beauty and hated the fact that someone so gorgeous would be taking my blood pressure?”
I snorted. “Somehow I doubt that. But humor me.” Our bodies moved as one on the dance floor. You’d never guess we hadn’t danced together before. “Tell me, what was your first impression?”
“The first thing I thought was how much I’d like to strip that crisp, white uniform right off you. And then I noticed the dimples in your cheeks. When you smiled, it brought me to my knees.”
I chuckled, shaking my head and feeling my cheeks flush. I was sure I was beet red, but I refused to be flustered by his compliments. This guy must have rows of beautiful women at his disposal daily. I could hardly imagine anyone impressing him.
I kept my voice light, hiding the effect he had on me. “Or you’ve been in isolation without a woman in sight for quite some time.”
He chuckled. Honestly, it was jarring to see him so relaxed. “Your turn.” I raised an eyebrow, wondering what he meant. “Your first impression of me.”
I snickered. I certainly hoped he wasn’t fishing for a compliment.
“I thought you were a dick,” I semi-teased. “A cranky, old dick.”
He gave me a lopsided smile, making him appear younger. I grinned, giddy from the flirting. “I have a dick, if that’s what you mean. And it is neither cranky nor old.”
I burst out laughing. That was the last thing I expected to hear come out of his mouth.
“Mr. Ashford,” I spluttered as if shocked by his comment. “That’s not how you speak to your dance partner.”
He looked at me, all our earlier playfulness wiped clear off his face. “But you’re not just my dance partner, are you?”
“Oh, really. What am I?”
“Baby, you’re a woman that I intend to have sprawled across my bed, screaming my name.”
It felt like all the air had been sucked out of the room. My heart beating out of my chest, I whispered, barely loud enough for him to hear, “That’s awfully presumptuous.”
His eyes danced with mischief. “Just stating the facts.”
He pulled me closer to him. God, he felt good. Warm. Hard. Big.
My pulse kicked into high gear. He radiated heat, every inch of his big, muscled frame brushing against my soft body, and I had to fight the urge to press myself against him.
“I can’t decide whether you’re a good idea or bad one,” I murmured into his chest, my eyelids heavy. I was falling under his spell.
I felt his smirk more than I saw it. “I’m definitely a good idea.” He bent his head, his mouth brushing over my temple. “The best one you’ll ever make.”
I smiled softly as the air swirled between us, surprised at how charming I was finding him. Normally, I’d scoff at a man so cocky. But then, normally I wouldn’t flirt with a perfect stranger, nor would I be bold enough to ask for a threesome.
My cheeks had to be burning by now.
I had always been a good girl. The responsible one. My ex even called me vanilla. That was going a bit too far, but I certainly wasn’t my sister. Either way, a ménage à trois had never crossed my mind. Not until Pierre dumped me, and now, I wanted it more than anything.
As revenge. As payback. But most of all, for me. My pleasure.
The chance to have one had been dropped into my lap, and I wasn’t about to pass on it. Somehow, deep down, I knew I was safe with him. Knew he’d ensure I loved every single minute of it. Feed me my pleasure before his own. I didn’t know how I knew that; I just did.
“Are you ready to relinquish control, Madeline?” A shiver danced down my spine at his words. The man hadn’t even kissed me yet, and pleasure zipped through my body. I drowned in his deep blue eyes. They were dark, reminding me of the deepest part of the ocean.
