Page 20 of Misdeeds of a Billionaire
“Okay.” My sister’s answer was clipped. Winston didn’t even bother acknowledging his brother.
Billie’s eyes met mine, those freckles on her nose and on her cheeks more pronounced. Byron’s brother must have pissed her off. It was the only time her freckles stood out like this.
“You okay?”
She blinked, took a deep breath, and then exhaled. She repeated the motion and only then did she answer. “Yes, everything isparfait.”
Yeah, nothing was perfect. My eyes flickered to Winston. He seemed aloof, almost grouchy. What the fuck was his deal? Earlier, he reminded me of Byron when I first entered the patient’s room, but now I wasn’t so sure.
Billie and Winston shared a fleeting gaze, but both quickly looked away.Hmm.I decided to file that thought away for a later day.
“Want me to stay with you?” I offered, despite the fact that it’d be difficult to give up my opportunity at a ménage à trois. For the first time in my life, Iwantedto be selfish.
“Absolutely not.” She stood up from her spot. “I’m going back to my table.” She came up to me and pecked my cheek. “See you later. Be safe.”
And with that, she scurried back to where all our friends sat. I let out a relieved breath. This was easier than I thought.
“Let’s go.”
Byron’s words turned my skin hotter. My heart raced faster. I nodded, and without another word to his brother, we made our way to the back of the bar. I frowned. I certainly hoped he didn’t think I’d be taking my clothes off in a corner.
“We have a room upstairs,” he explained as if reading my thoughts. I knew the bar was connected to a hotel, but it was so fancy; I’d never stayed here before. “We thought getting a room would be faster than going back to my yacht.”
He drew me closer, never letting go of my hand and using his big, muscular body as a plow. We made our way through the crowded bar and toward the elevators connecting to the back of the hotel. River waited there, leaning against the elevator door. As we approached, it felt like nearing a domain of sin. Metaphorically, of course.
“Hello, Odette.”
“Hello, River,” I breathed.
Holy shit!I’m doing this. I’m really doing this.I swallowed hard. Adrenaline pumped. My heart raced.
Byron’s fingers stroked my knuckles and my skin sang under such a simple touch. I couldn’t wait to see what happened when he touched me elsewhere. Tingles burst through me with anticipation.
His confidence screamed from him. Not loudly, but in just the right way. He didn’t need to broadcast it, and he knew it. Maybe it was that which was my aphrodisiac.
My body buzzed and my lips parted, waiting.
He let go of my hand as we entered the elevator and gripped my waist firmly.
Ding. The elevator door closed behind us.
I swallowed roughly, lifting my face to Byron. I studied his chiseled jaw. His face. His lips. His eyes.
But he didn’t even blink. He was waiting for me.
So I made the first move, closing the distance between us eagerly.
Chapter6
Byron
River leaned casually against the wall, his eyes sharp against our petite woman. No, notours. She was fucking mine.
I inhaled a deep breath, then exhaled. River’s eyes flicked to me, and I nodded.
He pushed a button and stopped the elevator, keeping his eyes on her. There was heat in his gaze, and fuck it, I didn’t like it. In the past, I never minded sharing a woman with him. We’d take bets, and with a bit of cunning and strategy, we’d seduce a woman. It was win-win. The woman would get the greatest pleasure of her life, and we got to keep our scars out of sight.
Except this time, the plan to go along with Odette’s threesome might have backfired. She had seen my scars, and I didn’t think she minded them. She saw them all, and still, desire filled her expression. She still wanted me, but not only me.
