I n the darkness of the night, in a deserted route where the wildness and the crickets of the night were heard, two figures were seen.
The huge figure of a male walking in slow, steady steps with a very drunk female wrapped in his arms. Long silver-gold mane that is his hair was in complete contrast with the night, resting beautifully down his back.
Upclose, his handsome chiseled face was drawn in a dark frown, his lips curved in a snarl. While, the woman in his arms was singing out excitedly, drunkenly.
"I can seeeeeeeee the foreeeeeest! It's so beautifuuuuul! So many aniiiiiiiimals in the riveeeeer!" Hiccup, hiccup. "I can smeeeeeeell the roooooooses! They are danciiiiing in the wiiiiiiiiiiild!!!"
"Keep. It. Down." He commanded, for the umpteenth time, through gritted teeth.
"Where is this beeeeeeeautiful staaaaars coming frooooom!? Aaaaaah, what a gooooooood dreeeam!" She giggled like the happiest child. "Is this an elephant riiiiiight in froooooont of meeeeeeeeeee!?"
Wolfariane Daminor Throne snapped his mouth shut and kept walking. The scent of the dog changeling on her was almost driving him through the deep ends. He wanted nothing more than to find the closest river, dumb her inside and wash the dog clean from her body.
His hands tightened on her, he kept walking. The wolf was too close to the surface, still raging and pacing like a caged lion that wants free. His chest beat with it, his mind is close to shutting down because of it.
All he can see in his mind is another male touching her, dancing with her, …and kneading her plump ass. It makes him want to roar. Makes him want to go back to that club and kill the dog changeling after all. He needs an outlet.
"What a greeeeeeeeeeat mooooorning! What a sunny daaaaaaaay!" She inhaled deeply, "Can smell my mama's cooking! Smells like baaaaaaking powder right here!!"
Cutting through another route, he kept walking. He chose walking because he needed to clear his head—calm himself—a bit fastening up his pace. If only he can run now. But he can't because the female is too drunk, it will only upset her belly and she will throw up.
He needed to maintain a semblance of control before reaching his towers, needed to attain a better level of calmness, so he doesn't devour her in the same way his instincts are riding him to, once her back hits his bed.
The voices banging through his head to take her right here on the ground and make her his, only got more persistent as time passed. He needed to make her his!
Needed to relieve these ache she started in him! Needed to wipe the scent of this male from her body! He needed to—
The ruffle of grass and the subtle change in the air caught his attention.
It was so distinct, he almost missed it because of the thick waves riding him hard and the roaring in his ears. But he caught it, and he knows that smell.
Wild Ones .
He stopped walking suddenly. "Shhhh," he directed to the drunk female in his arms as he focused all his attention to his surrounding.
She giggled to the sky, raised her hands up as if to catch the stars, and only screamed louder "If only I can swiiiiiim across the woooooooooooooooorld...!!!"
Tuning her out, he closed his eyes and allowed his other sense to do a proper survey of his surrounding.
Two Cougars from the left... Three wolves from the right... One tiger from his front... Four Wolves from behind...
Wolfariane's eyes snapped open. An ambush.
He has been ambushed by Wild Ones.
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA
Simon Blackgun stood thwarted in the middle of the hotel room he's staying in, a towel wrapped around his waist.
Heaving a sigh of frustration, he took out his cellphone and punched in some numbers.
"I have been waiting for this call for a while now! And I haven't been able to reach you either, dammit!" Doctor Baloca raged on the phone.
"I'm so sorry, Doctor. It hasn't been easy—"
"What hasn't been easy? What is going on?"
Simon prepared himself for the thunderstorm even before he opened his mouth, "We have searched every part of the city, every nook, and cranny, but we are unable to find her."
As expected, the thunderstorm came almost immediately.
" What !?" Dr. Baloca roared.
Simon heard him slam his hand on the desk from the other end of the line. The man closed his eyes tight and exhaled, "For the past four days, we have searched every part of San Jose. Turns out they packed out of their apartment a long time ago—"
"And we didn't know about this all these years!? How did this happen!?"
Simon was as frustrated as the doctor is. "All these are those animal's faults. If they didn't break out of their cages eighteen years ago; freed the others, killed off our scientists, and burned down the facility, this wouldn't have happened."
"I still wonder how they were able to break out till today. Nobody knew what went wrong."
"I wonder about that too." Simon muttered as he strode out to the terrace, taking a sip of his beer.
"That is not the problem now. Find me Hazel Smith! Find that girl and her child, and bring them to me." Dr. Baloca ordered.
"I will do everything within my power. Tomorrow we will check what used to be her mother's workplace. Somehow, we will be able to come up with a lead. Any lead. "
"You're right. Go back to that cleaning agency and ask around. Just do everything within your power, Simon. We need that girl and we need that child."
"I know, I know. I'm still looking for Algro too. Only he can tell us where the girl is."
"Algro is a bástard, I'll kill him when I come face to face with him again." The doctor barked angrily, "While looking for him, look hard for Hazel's mother. Once we find the mother, we already have the child."
Minutes after the call ended, Simon refilled his glass with more beer, his eyes on the blue glassy swimming pool of the hotel but his mind was so far away.
All this shouldn't be happening. After the laboratory burned down and their experiments escaped, they'd kept tabs on the girl while trying to survive and stay in hiding themselves.
Algro was the man they put in charge of keeping an eye on the girl and reporting everything about the girl back to them.
Through his reports, they'd learned that the girl was traumatized, but the pregnancy stayed.
They followed the progress of the girl's pregnancy through him and the girl's delivery.
He kept them updated for eleven years. But for the past seven years, they haven't heard from him. Or seen him.
It's like he disappeared from the surface of the earth.
He never reported the sex of the child to them and they never asked because it was not important. What mattered was that they have an offspring of Number 6, the most powerful werewolf. An offspring they can weaponize, train to follow all their instructions .
Too bad their plans to raise the child were shot to dust when those werewolves attacked them, killed almost all the scientists, and burnt the Lab to the ground, but it's not too late now.
They can still use the child.
Also, Hazel Smith can still give them more children when paired with more of these animals, once they have her back in the lab.
They just have to find them first.
Wolfariane barely had the chance to lower Ismena to the ground before the Wild Ones attacked.
He grabbed hold of the first two that came within grabbing-distance and threw them in the direction of the trees. Loud thuds filled the air as they landed a great distance away from him.
The next second he shifted, taking his animal form. A huge wolf occupied the space where the man stood, raised its head to the sky, and howled.
Then, the fight really began.
Ismena's eyes began clearing in the face of danger. Her brain picked up the fight going on around her, even before her eyes could see it. She blinked hard to see clearly.
Cougars, wolves, and tigers. All attacked one wolf. The wolf standing a few feet in front of her, fighting brutally and tearing at every animal that comes close.
The wolf was white and very huge, it towered over all the others. Wolfariane.
This is the first time she is seeing him in complete wolf-form. And even though it scared the living daylight right out of her esophagus, her mouth gaped open at the exquisite beauty of the wolf.
It was so beautiful...and so lethal.
The sound of bones breaking filled the air, followed by the mangled body of a tiger thrown to the side, covered in blood. What In Heaven's Glory...!!
Her eyes wide open with fear and shock, Ismena can do nothing but watch the fight in front of her.
Then, her back prickled...
Something is behind her.
Slowly, she looked behind her to see a black cougar watching her like she's dinner and it's savoring before devouring. The instant her eyes met the cougar's, it took off in a dead run towards her.
Ismena opened her mouth wide to scream. But before the sound could develop well, the wolf jumped over her and attacked the cougar squarely. As they rolled over on the ground, the wolf was tearing the cougar apart, leaving a long trail of blood around them and all over them.
The roar of the cougar filled the night, followed by the sound of its skin tearing from its body.
And then, silence.
Silence so quiet and deafening at the same time, Ismena would have sworn that even the wind stood still, the leaves of the trees stopped waving around and the night insects in the air stilled their chirpings just to maintain the dead silence. As if they were all scared of the wolf too .
The only sound Ismena heard was the loud thudding of her heart in her chest as the wolf whirled around and focused solely on her.
Its white fur has gone red like it bathed in blood. Its teeth held onto a long bloody bone that came from the cougar he just tore apart. Then, it started a graceful walk towards her.
She swallowed tightly. Don't move, Ismena! Don't you dare move! Don't you dare run! This is Wolfariane, he wouldn't hurt you!
It doesn't matter that he killed all these bad people like a walk in the park! It doesn't matter that he has a cougar's bone hanging off his mouth..! It doesn't matter that he's in wolf-form! It doesn't matter that he is covered in blood...!
Hands clutching the sands of the ground on either side of her, she tried to hold back the panic that rose to her throat as the huge wolf got stopped in front of her. Amber-eyes watched her carefully.
Then, it ambled into her personal space, towering over her completely, and sniffed the air. Twice.
The wolf snarled like it doesn't like the smell it perceived.
Unbiddenly, Ismena remember Wolfariane's words inside the club. "You smell like him." He'd barked.
"Uhm, I d-didn't mean for him to p-put his hands on me." Her voice sounded like a screech to her own ears, "I know, I know I don't smell so good right now but I promise to dive into the first river I see—"
The rest of the words died on her throat when the huge werewolf lowered his head beneath her breasts...beneath her belly...and sniffed.
Holy thunder !!! She caught the words on her throat and only a gasp of terrified horror escaped as she watched the wolf sniff her privates .
It sniffed again. Twice. And inhaled deeply.
Ismena held her breath, waiting. All traces of being drunk had disappeared, leaving her stone-cold sober.
The wolf raised his head, stepped back, and laid the bone gently on her feet as if he's giving her a trophy.
Ismena acknowledged the 'trophy' with a nervous nod of her head.
It bumped his head gently on her leg. She took it as her cue to stand up.
Then, the wolf turn away from her, sat on its haunches, and waited.
Ismena has no idea how she knew what the wolf requested of her but she saw herself climbing onto the back of the wolf even before she could process what she was doing and questioned her own sanity.
Suddenly, she was wrapped around the softest furs, softer than anything she has ever touched in her whole life. Not minding the blood, her fear and all. She wrapped her arms tightly around the wolf, laid her head on its back, and held on tight.
The King-Wolf rose to its full height, howled to the sky and took off into the night with his mate on his back.
