I faintly began to realize that Aiden had unheard of stamina when it came to sex.

I brought my hands to clasp around Aiden’s neck andlet my other leg come up so that my ankles were linked together behind his back. I felt my back push harder against the wall and his hands gripped my thighs, supporting me as he pushed into me.

It was deeper than he’d gone before and my thighs instinctively clenched around him from fear of falling.

“I won’t ever let you fall,” Aiden grunted into my ear as he thrust into me with a rhythm that made me think I might implode from the pleasure of it all. Finally, we came together with Aiden sinking down onto the ground, cradling me in his arms as we recovered together.

I winced as I walked down the stairs later that evening. Muscles that had never been used before had been used quite…vigorously. My thighs hurt, my calves were trembling, and even my abdomen was cramping just a bit. In retrospect, I realized I would have never been able to do something like that with Aiden if we hadn’t cared about each other. To be so close to another person, to have him inside of me…panting my name, me moaning his…

No, no…I could have never done it no matter how much back then I had told myselfI could manage casual sex. No wonder Aiden had been adamant to not go that route. It was wonderful to be with someone that cared about me. Someone I knew loved me. And it was almost as if the entire world was engulfed in a splendorous glow around me in the aftermath of what we'd done together. Or maybe everything had always been this vivid, butI was only really seeing the beauty around me now. Through new eyes.

Lorraine looked at me with a knowing smile when I sat down for dinner.

“Where’re Josie and the kids?” I inquired. They usually came over for meals. Who could blame them? Josie's cooking was just a disaster waiting to happen.

“Oh…Josie took some leftovers home with her when they came by earlier," Lorraine said with a kind smile, placing soup on the table.

I dropped my spoon with a clatter.

“They were here earlier?” I croaked out.

Lorraine nodded. “When you and Alpha Aiden didn’t come down…Josie decided it was best not to disturb you two. She thought you two would want some privacy for the rest of the day.”

I looked down at the table forlornly. Such a big table, and not enough people.

In that moment of silence, Aiden came inside. Tony was trailing behind him.

“Tony!” I said happily, rising to hug my brother and beta.

I couldn’t help but bite my lip when my thighs trembled in protest of being used to lift me up. Lorraine looked at me with a secretive smile before bustling into the kitchen.

“Where’s everyone? The boys and Tanya are usually here for dinner. They can’t stand Mom’s cooking,” Tony joked as we all took turns ladling soup into our respective bowls.

“Mom was over earlier,” Aiden said nonchalantly. “I saw her as she was leaving. She said she had plans to take the kids to see a movie tonight. They needed something to cheer them up… with everything going on with Dylan.”

I let out a sigh of relief. So maybe no one knew what we'd done…yet.

Tony gave a shrug of agreement before turning to look at me. “So have you looked into the program in New York that your academic counselor recommended?” he asked.

Now Aiden's spoon fell to the table with a clatter.

Rose's POV

“New York?” Aiden asked with a strained voice.

I nodded, feeling the pit of my stomach drop. Now was not the right time to discuss me going thousands of miles away.

“It’s a program for those who wish to become pack doctors. It’s really hard to get into but I’m sure Rose is going to be a shoo-in,” Tony said enthusiastically.

I closed my eyes for a minute, reminding myself that I needed to keep calm if Aiden had an outburst. He was so possessive…would he ever let me move so far away from him? And now we'dmated…before it had been my escape plan. Let him stay with Lexia, and I'd drop into the pack to fulfill my duties once the dust had settled. Now…now even I had to think about whether New York was really something I wanted to do. Opening my eyes, I gathered my courage.

“I…I haven’t thought it through yet,” I finally spoke.

“But before you were so excited!” Tony exclaimed. “You wanted to go have a look at the campus…weren’t you supposed to be planning a trip? Are you delaying it for the ceremony? It's going to take the witch healer a few weeks to make the potions so you could go in the meantime.”
