As We Waited, I Felt It

The chill of what

I was about to do.

There would be blood, and pain.

Once again my family would fight

each other, for even the giants

were our cousins.

And this time, I would lead an army

the way my father did.

What if we lose?

‘We will not lose.’

Thanatos’ gentle voice

broke through my panic.

I felt his hand softly take mine

and I turned to him.

‘You have enough fire inside you

to win a thousand wars,

you will win this

and the next one too.’

‘I do not want any more wars,’

I told him. He smiled sadly and

pulled me closer and I sank into his arms.
