Page 78 of He Who Sleeps
Kendrix didn’t say anything from his spot, just pulled out his knife and started spinning it on his finger.
“Same with you,” she said to him. He gave her a savage grin, but said nothing.
“So you told your friends about us? All of us?” Jack asked.
She nodded. “This morning, actually. It was quite the conversation.” Looking to Finn she declared, “not really diplomacy, more you all tick different buttons for me, but you are all sexy to me, and you all get me, and keep me wet.”
"Leo, sit down and stop being a prick," Finn sighed. "I heard your stomach rumbling earlier, so you're only spiting yourself by messing around."
"You're all just scared I'm the biggest," Leo smirked, zipping up and rebuckling his belt to sit down.
"What are you? Five?" Easton rolled his eyes.
"No one wants to listen to you peacocking," Carter told Leo. "Petra was about to tell us about her friends and what they think of the situation, so shut up and let us listen."
“So what did they say?” Jack pressed.
“Well,” she began, “after a bit it was really positive, but from the off they were...well, surprised I guess the word would be. Fiona...” She giggled. “Was like, this is a cult, isn’t it?” She mimicked Fiona’s voice. “And then Carlee and Vic were both wanting to know about dicks and sex and how naughty you guys are.” She blushed. “But a girl can only kiss and tell so much.”
"But you told them there were seven of us?" Finn asked.
She nodded. “I did.”
"And they were just...cool with that?" Easton's voice made his disbelief clear. "They didn't even once question your sanity?"
She laughed. “I did say Fiona asked if it was a cult, right?” She looked at her sexy artist. “They were not super cool with it at first, or the fact that I told them we have had a standing Halloween date the past three years.”
“Makes sense. Normal girls in normal society,” Jack offered.
“Not normal, I mean they are my friends and clearly I’m not normal. But more like it’s what’s expected of them. One dude, maybe two to be scandalous. But Seven? Carlee was all for it, but she’s a deviant like me.” She giggled. “Vic and Fi are more reserved about it, and that’s okay, but they wanna meet you guys, make sure you’re not serial killers.” She smirked and then snorted. “As if.”
"Uh...I think technically you only have to kill three people to qualify as a serial killer, so by that definition, we actually are serial killers," Carter pointed out.
"Awkward," Leo snorted. "Sorry, ladies, we're exactly the things you're worried about."
“And yet you’re more than that. All of you.” She looked to each of them in term. “And also, they are only worried because they have been conditioned to worry about those things.”
Emerson nodded. “Society thinks it’s bad so they have to look out for those things. It’s nice they are about you like that. If they were raised like us, it wouldn’t matter to them.”
She nodded. “I was teasing you guys. I know you are, and I don’t fucking care. I mean I get it, they are worried for my safety, but I’m not.”
"Even with that lunatic kicking about?" Leo pointed at Rix.
She nodded and licked her top lip, and he returned the favor before saying, “She loves all the things I do to her.”
“Yes, I do.” She winked.
“Sexy little deviant,” Emerson offered.
"I'm not sure I'd want to meet us in a dark alley," Carter laughed. "You have zero sense of self-preservation. It's as impressive as it is concerning."
“I mean...” She shrugged. “I don’t think it’s that. Don’t get me wrong, if any of you walked out of a dark alley and crooked a finger, I would be following you back into the darkness, but if someone else did? I would run. With you guys, it’s not self-preservation.”
"Please don't say it's destiny," Easton's nose scrunched up as he said it. "One of these idiots will start pretending to be Sean Connery and claiming there can be only one."
"And blood is a bitch to get out of the carpet," Finn agreed.
"No one is swinging swords with Brutus in the room," Carter said and Leo laughed.
