Fury

“Brother, seriously, when is she going to speak to me?” Blade complains, and I roll my eyes for the tenth time since he rang me five minutes ago, interrupting my day and my happiness with his whining.

Shaking my head, I check on my girls only to grin seeing them taking selfies in front of the lions.

“Fuck, she ignored us, Fury, completely ignored us, which is ridiculous considering she’s now back with you!

” he continues to rant as Skylar looks my way and tilts her head, worry etching from her that I can even feel from here.

I send her a grin to show she knows all is okay, making the tension in her shoulders —the tension I don’t think she realizes she was holding — loosen before she smiles back at me and then focuses on Tate, who is currently waving at the lion as it prowls past them.

Fuck am I glad I mentioned coming to Santa Monica Safari Reserve for a few days, just me and my girls.

So far, Tate has loved every bit of it, and Skylar has watched her with awe every step of the way.

Don’t get me wrong, it is heartbreaking knowing she lost our baby, but seeing them together, you know she was supposed to be Tate’s mama.

Everything worked out the way it was supposed to, so Tate could have a woman in her life she loves more than life itself, just like Skylar did with Mama Lopez, both being born by women who just wanted money and not the child.

“Blade, I’m currently at the zoo with my girls. Can you get your rant out of your system to your wife, or, I don’t know, maybe Psycho?” I say with humor, and the fucker growls like a dog making me chuckle.

“Look, she isn’t ready, and you need to respect that, and Brick most definitely needs to respect it,” I say while keeping my eyes on my girls, “Tate wanted to go to the diner for dinner, Skylar gave her what she wanted, and it was my job to ensure you both left her alone. You can’t keep trying to push her for a relationship, brother. ”

Which is what he tried the other day at the diner.

As soon as we walked in, the fuckers zoned in on Skylar, who walked past them without a word when they got in her face, and before they could cause a scene, I told them both to leave her alone, or we’re going elsewhere.

That caused Tate to pout so they listened, but made my girl feel very uncomfortable for the whole hour she managed before asking Tate if she wanted ice cream while I glared at the idiots.

He snaps, “If you’d just tell me what is holding her back, maybe I can fucking fix it! She’s my sister, Nyx, and for years, not once has she tried to make contact with me, not once has she had a fucking conversation with me.”

“You know I won’t tell you,” I remind him with a sigh, and he replies lowly, “You will if I order you.”

I shake my head, disappointment filling me at his threat.

“No, I won’t,” I admit, “I’d sooner hang up my cut than break her trust again and you threatening that makes you a jackass and not the man I know.”

He groans, “Fuck’s sake…” and I chuckle a little because he’s obviously realized he’s acting like his dad did five years ago.

“Just go at her speed, brother,” I order, making him huff and me smile. Shaking my head, I ask, “How’s Viper doing?”

He snorts, “Not too good. The fucker decided to go to Randy’s last night and caused a bit of a scene when Lake refused to speak to him, only to come back to Dark Angel’s Bar and get blackout drunk before making out with some chick.”

“Ah fuck,” I mutter, and he hums, replying, “Yeah, it gets worse. When I explained what he did, thinking maybe he wouldn’t remember, he just shrugged and said it was time for him to move on from a woman who didn’t want him, a woman who was a liar.

Apparently, he overheard Cherri on the phone yesterday, discussing Lake tying him down and getting money for her, suggesting that she had never had feelings for him and was using him for his cut.

It’s why he went to Randy’s to begin with. ”

I frown as Skylar wraps her arm around my waist, mine going over her shoulders automatically as I state, “Brother, that doesn’t sound like Lake.”

“What doesn’t sound like Lake?” Skylar quickly asks before looking towards Tate to make sure she’s okay which makes me smile automatically.

See, she’s her mother through and through, except for blood.

I hear Blade suck in a breath, and I roll my eyes yet again as I answer my girl, “Apparently, she used Viper for his cut to give money to Cherri. The idiot made out with some woman last night after overhearing the clubwhore’s phone call and Lake refusing to answer the door.”

Sky gets her phone out as she snorts, “Lake hadn’t had one conversation with Cherri since the woman told her to get lost when she was ten wanting to get to know her mama, and Viper is an idiot because she won’t want him at all now, especially after believing she’d be as nasty as her egg donor.”

Blade sighs, “Well, the good news is Lake doesn’t know.” but I wince and mutter, “Uh yeah, brother, she does, and Sky’s right, she wants nothing to do with Viper again,” as I read my girl’s phone that I know she’s purposely showing me.

“Ah, come on, she did not just message Lake?” Blade groans, and I chuckle lightly at the grin Sky has going on.

Did I mention that she hates the brotherhood for how they’ve treated her mama?

“She did, but you should have seen it coming, brother. Lake is her family, along with Ivy and Raya,” I state while Skylar nods.

Her phone beeps, and I look over to read the message, which this time has me groaning.

My Girls – Lake : Dad’s going to message Fury. He wants to collect his tools. I tried to stop him, but, well, he’s done with the club xx .

Her phone beeps again.

My Girls – Luna: Ah crap! xx

And another beep.

My Girls – Ivy: Dammit! I loved working with Randy growing up. Damn Viper! Xx

“Fuck’s sake, Randy wants his tools and Ivy’s pissed,” I mutter, and Blade curses.

He was our best fucking mechanic, and for years, we tried to get him to join the club, but he refused for Lake’s sake, and now, because of Viper and his stupidity, he won’t return to the garage.

Sky shrugs, not one bit sorry before she kisses my cheek and saunters off towards our daughter, my eyes on the other hand go to her juicy ass that I want to grab.

I’m pretty sure she wore tight leggings and a crop top to tease me.

“Go warn Viper, brother. He needs to know what’s going on. I’ll be back tomorrow night for church,” I say, and he huffs, “Fine…” before hanging up like a kid in a sulk and I chuckle, putting my phone away before making my way back over to my girls.

I grin at Tate as she presses her hand up against the glass as the lion walks past looking at her, and I walk up behind my girl, wrapping my arms around her.

She melts into me as she asks, “Is he mad?”

I hum and admit, “More so because you won’t speak to him. He, like myself, understands why Randy quit.”

“I’m not ready,” she whispers, and I press my lips against her head and ask, “Not ready because you are not ready or not ready because Mama Lopez isn’t?”

She’s quiet for a moment, Tate’s giggles surrounding us as she gently runs the tip of her nails over my arms, sending goosebumps throughout my body before she replies, “A little bit of both.”

I nod in understanding, holding her tighter.

She wanted nothing more than to have a relationship with Blade until she found out the rumors of the President of the Dark Angel’s treating his mama like shit on hearsay of an affair were true.

Anna is her world, the only mother she knew growing up, and well, Blade and Brick broke her heart for their treatment of her.

I don’t know if she’ll ever forgive them, especially if Anna doesn’t, and as it stands, Anna doesn’t want her secrets revealed.

They’re a package. You get one then you have to have the other. That is the kind of mother-daughter bond every woman wants, and my girl has it with a woman who chose her.

“I’ll be here when you are ready to explode,” I whisper, meaning every word, and she replies, “Thank you…” Making me smile, and I kiss her head one more time before resting my chin on top, watching our girl.

These are the days I will always remember. Her, Tate, and I like this, and one way or another, I’m going to make sure we have more of them because this woman, she’s fucking mine.

I frown as I pull up against the curb on the way to Skylar’s, the scene before me worrying, and without thinking too much, I turn off my bike and climb off before rushing over.

We got back from our little getaway around two hours ago. I dropped the girls off at Skylar’s apartment, then drove to the clubhouse for church before grabbing my bike to ride back.

Blade’s still pissed Skylar wants fuck all to do with him. Brick is now demanding I speak to his daughter, where I told him to fuck off, that he’s not my Pres, and even if he was, I’d throw my cut at him, shocking everyone, and Viper, well, the fucker doesn’t look right.

He barely said two words in church, only agreeing to volunteer on the next club run which will be for five days and the idiot hasn’t shaved for probably a week.

Psycho said he had to hold him down from destroying the clubhouse after Blade mentioned Lake knew about the woman.

And now, instead of going to my girl’s, I’m having to see what’s going on so Venom doesn’t burn the fucking clubhouse down alongside Viper.

“You are supposed to be out of town, little girl!” the guy sneers in Raya’s face, and I narrow my eyes at the fucker and demand, “Get your fucking hand off her right now!”

Raya looks my way, and nothing but anger shines off her as the guy snaps, “Why don’t you mind your fucking bus–”

His words cut off as he looks at me, noticing my cut, his face paling and I grab his wrist tightly and yank it back, making him gasp in pain as I bend it at an unnatural angle, and I sneer, “Last time I fucking checked, the Hyenas are not welcome in the Dark Angel’s territory, so what do I do about you now, huh? ”

Sweat beads his forehead as Raya says, “Just let him go, Fury, he won’t bother me again.”

The guy nods frantically in agreement, and I narrow my eyes and yank him towards me hard, causing him to stumble.

I threaten, “You go near her again, even look at her, and I will kill you and ensure Hayden knows the Dark Angels are aware you’re trying to poach on our territory, meaning, get all of his fucking men out of town before we go on a killing spree!

” his breathing quickens with fear and nods frantically.

I shove him away, causing him to stumble before he turns and I say loudly, “And just so you know, Raya is family.”

His whole body tenses as he runs like a fucking pansy, and I look at Raya with a raised brow.

She sniffles, wiping away a few tears as she whispers, “Thank you, but can you please not tell Venom about this? I don’t want him around me.”

“I need to tell Blade, sweetheart, they shouldn’t be in town, and whether Venom finds out, well, it won’t come from me,” I promise, and she nods, wiping away her tears.

“Want to tell me what that was about?” I ask, and she shakes her head before going to her tiptoes and kissing my cheek, muttering, “Thank you, Fury,” before walking away, and I tilt my head.

Skylar killed a Hyena member, and one has just demanded to know what Raya was doing back in town, and over the years, I’ve come to learn there is no such thing as coincidences.

I watch as she walks around the corner safely before I grab my phone as I walk back to my bike and bring up Blade’s number, and it rings.

“Brother, if this is about Dad, I’ve already snapped at him,” he answers on the second ring, and I snort.

“Actually, I’ve just interrupted a Hyena member threatening Raya near Dark Angel’s Tats,” I admit and he curses while I continue, “I’ve already threatened a killing spree knowing they are in our territory and confirmed Raya is family, which she is even if Venom doesn’t want to admit she’s his but brother, she’s asked that he doesn’t know. ”

“Dammit,” he snaps, “too late, the fucker has just run out. He was next to me when you called. I’ve got to go before heads roll.”

I wince as he hangs up, and I put my phone back, shaking my head before I climb on my bike, my eyes going back to where Raya was being held by that fucker.

Think it’s time I speak to my girl about the whole reason she killed a Hyena and find out exactly what Raya has gotten herself involved with.

“Want to tell me why a Hyena had ahold of Raya?” I demand as I walk into Sky’s apartment ten minutes later, and her eyes widen in shock from where she’s picking up Tate’s toys, who I’m guessing is now in bed in her guest room, which is basically Tate’s room.

Fuck, she even has a princess bed that I know Mama Lopez must have bought.

“A Hyena member was near Raya?” she asks with panic in her voice and I nod once, and she scrambles up, dropping all the toys, and rushes past me to the kitchen and grabs her phone, panic shooting off her.

“Sky,” I start, but she puts her hand up to stop me as she puts her phone to her ear. I scowl as I cross my arms over my chest, but of course, she ignores me.

“Mama, they know Raya’s in town!” she says, her voice wavering, and concern hits me hard as I watch Sky nod to whatever Anna says, and she whispers, “I promise I won’t Mama, I love you too,” before hanging up, her hand trembling a little.

What the fuck have Raya and Skylar got themselves into?

“Want to explain to me what is happening, precious?” I demand calmly, and she looks at me, our eyes connecting, before she clears her throat, putting her phone in her pocket.

“It’s not my story to tell,” she says, causing my whole body to lock up as she walks over to me. She presses a kiss to my cheek, and I have to stop myself from pulling back before she mumbles, “I’m going to go check on Tate,” then walks away while I stand frozen, realization hitting me.

She still doesn’t trust me.
