A horrible, depraved part of me wanted the promise of violence and complete and utter domination those growls offered.
I hungered.
I wasstarvingfor what these Alphas offered me.
My more logical mind—the one that still clung to the hope of surviving this timeline—cried for my attention.
I could endure, but I had to be smart.
Another growl sounded, this time coming from the left.
Then another echoed from the right, challenging the first.
I wrapped my hands around my arms and fought the instinct to take what I needed.
But my body didn’t know where to go.
What made me hesitate was my indecision. My instincts hadn’t prepared me for two.
And based on their rumbling growls, they were just as hungry as I was.
My Alphas had been tormented, deprived of an Omega, and forced to figure out the hierarchy between them.
Now, I was here, and if I didn’t properly guide them, they could kill each other—or me.
Kodiak’s words filtered back to me on the waves of my rising fear.
“I urge you to focus on your mate-circle, Gina. Do what you must to mend it, because you’ll need all the help you can get to face the true threat.”
The growls increased to snarls, terrifying me.
What had Kodiak meant by that?
Had he known I would be shoved into a dark room with two Alphas?
“Do what you must…”
Was I supposed to let one kill the other, leaving only one Alpha remaining?
Or was I supposed to take the brunt of their aggression and hope I survived?
Paralyzed with indecision, I melted to my knees. My skin grazed the coarse stone as I wilted and tucked my chin to my chest.
Another snarl sounded.
I made myself small.
Not because I was afraid. But because I needed time to figure this out. Dust swirled all around me with the heavy weight of this important moment.
Whatever choice I made here would forge a new timeline.
A strong one.
Don’t fuck this up, Gina,I mentally told myself.
While my eyes hadn’t yet adjusted to the darkness of the cell I’d been flung into, I couldn’t escape their intoxicatingscents. Their overwhelming intermingling musk made my heart thunder in my chest. My body craved their touch, their bite, their lust.
A masculine tangle of spice and leather twisted around my throat like a noose, tightening until I could scarcely breathe.
