I would fuck him either way, but I wasn’t letting him off the hook.
He shook his head. “I told you. I can’t.”
I pressed my palm over his throat, but I didn’t squeeze. Instead, I wrapped my fingers around the back of his neck and brought his mouth to mine. “I know you think you’re protecting us, Zeke, but don’t forget what happened the last time you tried to fix things on your own.”
He had tried to stand up to an Alpha, resulting in both of us shattered in a dungeon from Axel’s cruel and sensual torment.
It had ended in the chaos we were now in, broken and beaten down.
I’ve learned from my mistakes, Zeke. Have you?
He didn’t hear my thoughts. He seemed cut off from me in more ways than one, as if his decision to leave went deeper than I wanted to accept.
Then why ask me to fuck him? What was he trying to tell me?
He took a shuddering breath before answering against my mouth. “I kept us alive, Rowan. I’d do anything for you, for Gina, for our mate-circle.” He licked my lower lip. “Now fuck me before I change my mind.”
I didn’t like the way he talked.
Nor did I like how he kissed me, thoroughly and deeper than ever before.
Like something horrible was about to happen.
Like this wasgoodbye.
My body sleptbetween two powerful Alphas.
MyAlphas.
But myspirit… it longed to be complete again.
After learning the truth of my history with Seifiek, I knew I needed to uncover the rest of my memories. It just so happened that there was another piece of my soul not so far from the cottage in which I had chosen to bond with my Alphas.
Coincidence? Hardly.
Where are you?I wondered as my Astral self wandered the Web.
This was something I hadn’t done in a while. With Etu lingering behind every strand, I risked pulling him out of hiding again.
There wasn’t much choice in the matter now. The Shard inside me burned to life, no doubt a beacon to Etu’s senses.
I wasn’t sure why he hadn’t already tracked me down. Perhaps something was distracting him.
Regardless, I decided to make use of my immersion in the Web.
I’d found myself in between the Web and this realm, resulting in a view that showed me both realities at once while I took my time.
And it was spectacular.
Silver burst to life everywhere I looked, lighting up the night sky as an ethereal and dreamlike view of the world around me came into view.
Trees swayed underneath an earthly moon. It was silver, too, just like the sun back in my home realm. It was part of the reason I liked the dark nights here.
It was as close to the Web as humanity would ever come.
I ran my fingers over the delicate strands of the Web, each one linked to someone’s future and every living thing around it. Tiny, delicate strings wound around leaves and tree trunks, giving the forest a vibrant display of light.
A low hum sent those threads vibrating, lifting all of the leaves to move with the wind.
