Page 122 of Fighting for Her Heart
“They don’t get jealous?”
I shake my head.
“Girl…”
“Okay. Sometimes,” I admit. “Maybe. A little.” But they work it out. We all work it out together. The fabulous and unique nature of our family fills me with pride.
“Enjoy it while it lasts.” Leaning back in her chair, she whistles softly through her teeth. “’Cause in my experience, men don’t like sharing.”
“Your experience?” I look at my former boss, who I know has a wife.
Her shoulders shake as she laughs. “Okay, okay. You got me there. Maybe it’s not personal experience, but a girl has friends and family, you know. I do know a few straight folk. Just be careful.”
Smiling at her, I nod. I still can’t believe my good fortune, but instead of trying to convince Shana that my relationships are real and strong, I’ll just let her see us in action as we work to support her charity.
The whole time the four of us have been together, we’ve been in close quarters. First in a cave, then a farmhouse, and now a one-bedroom condo, but it all works. It better than works.
My entire body starts to heat.
“You’re blushing.” Shana leans across her desk toward me. “Girl? I can’t even begin to imagine. Shit. You don’t even go out after dark and now, look at you. Dating three dudes.”
“I don’t mind the dark anymore.”
“I bet you don’t.” She chuckles. Then her expression turns serious and she folds her hands, placing them on her desk. “So, what is it you want to talk about?”
“It’s really news that should come from Ryker and Zuben and Axe.” It’s their money, although they keep insisting it’s mine now too.
Turns out, Axe is also super rich. He had money and gold stashed away in a cave, but it was his stock certificates and real estate holdings that really appreciated over time. Some shares were worthless, but his holdings in companies’ shares that he purchased for under a dollar, are now worth hundreds of thousandseach, after stock splits and mergers and other things that have happened in the years he held shares in these blue chip companies. He’s still sorting it all out, but Axe is worth so many hundreds of millions it makes my head spin. All three of the men are that rich.
Shana tips her head to the side. “You’re not even going to give me a hint?”
“Nope.” I grin. If she’s excited about Sanctuary House moving to a new office, I can’t wait until she hears what the men and I have in mind.
She flattens her palms on her desk, then slaps it lightly. “Well then, I suppose we shouldn’t keep yourthreeboyfriendswaiting much longer.”
“I suppose not.” I shift on the chair. Talking about my relationship status left me wet and I’m eager to get home so I can do something about that.
“You’re really and truly happy?” she asks as she stands. “They’re not forcing you into anything.”
“Forcing me to date them?” I shake my head.
“No, I guess not.” Raising her eyebrows, she leans forward. “It’s not a cult, is it?”
“No.” I laugh. “Really, Shana. I’d tell you if I wasn’t okay. Honest. But I appreciate your concern.”
“Okay, then let’s go.” She pats my back.
The two of us walk across the open office space toward the meeting room. What Shana doesn’t know is that, we’ve decided that we’re going to become permanent patrons of Sanctuary House.
Shana and her Board of Directors will have final say in what will be done with the money, but our family plans to fund the organization well enough that they can house and counsel every homeless teen in the city, and expand to other cities too.
Shana enters the meeting room first, and all the men stand, smiling as they turn to face her.
My chest swells with the ever-expanding love I have for these men. For all three of them. Now that they’re all lambent, they don’t need me to walk in the light, and every last hint of insecurity inside me has vanished.
They love me. All of them. They love me as deeply as I love them.
And I can’t wait for this meeting to be over so that we can go home and demonstrate to each other just how deep that love goes.
