“I might.” She smiled. “Are you just arrogant, or confident because you’re competent?”

“Two sides of the same coin.”

She let go of my hand and finished off the rest of her drink. She set the glass on the coffee table in front of us and then she leaned over to kiss me, tasting like scotch and filling me with desire.

Lex pulled back just long enough so that she could pluck the glass from my hand and set it aside and then she moved to straddle me. She slid her tongue into my mouth.

My hands wandered up her curves, excitement pounding in my blood at the thought of sinking into her. My fingers traced the sides of her dress, up her ribs. The top was a modern corset, and it drew my eye to her cleavage.

She tugged on my hair, greedy, demanding.

“Get up,” I commanded against her mouth.

Lex lifted her head and stared down into my eyes and then she climbed off me.

I stood up and placed my hand at her waist, guiding her toward one of the large glass walls.

“Turn and put your hands on the window,” I commanded.

I watched her pulse flutter in the side of her neck and her lips part slightly, but then she obeyed. When she was bent over, like an offering, I sucked in a harsh breath.

My hands glided underneath her gold dress, skimming up smooth skin, searching for the spot between her legs.

She wasn’t wearing underwear.

And she was wet.

I played with her flesh, teasing the pearl between her thighs. Soon, I’d have my mouth there. But first—first—I wanted to make her come with just my fingers.

“Ramsey,” she moaned, leaning forward and pressing her cheek to the glass.

I let out a throaty laugh as I plunged a finger inside her.

She quivered around me and inhaled a shaky breath.

I pumped in and out of her a few times, swirling and curling my finger inside her.

Lex smacked her palms against the glass. “Yes,” she hissed. “Yes, Ramsey!”

I skated my thumb across the seam of her body and caused her to yell out her explosive release. She clamped around me, and it was only when she stopped shuddering that I removed my finger.

While she was catching her breath, I reached into my pocket and extracted a condom. I ripped the foil with my teeth and unzipped my trousers. I was hard and aching, ready to dive into her warm, welcoming body.

She removed her palms from the glass and straightened ever so slightly.

“We’re not done,” I growled. “Not by a long shot.”

“No,” she agreed, her tone husky. “We’re not.”

Lex whirled to face me. Her face was flushed, but her eyes, which moments ago had been welcoming and full of desire, were hard and sharp now.

My lips parted in surprise and a gasp of air escaped me as a sharp pain made itself known.

I looked down.

A knife handle protruded from between my ribs, the blade sunk to the hilt.

She yanked it out before I could reach for it and said chillingly, “For Ainsley.”
