“What’s strange?” he asked.
“Everything feels new all over again.”
“I know,” he agreed. “With Hawk, everything was new. By the time the twins came around we were seasoned. But with Piper…I’m not sure I know what to do with a girl. Aside from locking her in a tower until she’s thirty.”
“Knowing you, you’ll teach her how to pick a lock, so shutting her away in a tower might be for naught.”
Flynn walked into the bedroom, and I followed at a slower pace. Igor was still hovering around the doorway, watching me with a dark, penetrating gaze. I ignored him.
Flynn put Piper in a fresh diaper and then slid her into a onesie that Wee Duncan had long since grown out of.
I went to the door and locked it for good measure.
“Don’t want the lads to be able to come in?” Flynn asked in amusement.
He gently set Piper in a bassinet we’d borrowed from Ash and Duncan.
“I want us to have some privacy,” I said, batting my lashes at him.
“Hen, do you even have the energy to seduce me?” Flynn teased.
“Honestly? No.”
“Thank God. I’m exhausted,” he said with a dry laugh.
“Flynn Campbell,” I said, slowly removing my clothes but leaving my tank top and lace underwear on. “Are you getting old?”
His eyes dipped down my body as I revealed skin. “Not getting old, love. I’m just human. I have the same weaknesses as anyone else.” He peeled off his sweater and tossed it onto the chair in the corner.
I climbed into bed, my eyes dipping shut despite my desire to stay awake a little bit longer. I groaned when my head nestled against the plush pillow. “You don’t have the same weaknesses as anyone else. Do you know that when we first met, I was in complete and utter awe of you?”
He flipped on the lamp and then went over to the switch and killed the main light in the room. “And now? Has your awe for me completely disappeared due to years of cohabitation and child rearing?”
I sniggered.
Flynn quickly dropped his trousers and then got into bed next to me. He took me into his arms, and I tangled my bare legs with his.
His hand skated down my leg and settled on the curve of my butt. “I’ll never forget seeing you for the first time, walking into the restaurant to meet with your shitehead of a brother, only to find you there. You captured my attention immediately. And then when you casually said you wished you’d ordered scotch instead of red wine, I knew I was done for.”
I laughed softly. “You did not.”
“No? You don’t believe me?”
“The great and mighty Flynn Campbell, falling for a woman because she wanted single malt scotch? No, I don’t buy it.”
“Fine. It wasn’t just that you wanted single malt scotch. It was your sweet and glorious arse, too. I watched you walk to the loo and had to stop myself from following you.”
A thrill of desire shot straight to my core.
“What would’ve happened if you’d followed me to the loo?”
He caressed up and down my skin, sliding beneath the black lace panties I wore to gently cup the attribute he’d just mentioned.
“I would’ve locked the door, told you to bend over and grip the counter, and then I would’ve fucked you from behind. I would’ve fucked you so deep, so raw, you would’ve begged for more.”
“I was so hot for you; I would’ve let you.”
He chuckled. “Maybe. I doubt it sometimes though. You led me on a merry chase.”
