“Damn, I’d climb him like a tree," Harper whispered under her breath, so only I could hear.
She wasn’t wrong. The guy had short-cropped blond hair, brown eyes, and a muscular build evident under his suit. He had this air of subtle sophistication about him that made me curious about who he was.
When he stopped in front of my booth, I stuck out my hand to him. “Hi, I’m Ashlyn Thomas. This is my company, Inspired. Can I help you find something for that special curvy girl in your life?”
“A pleasure to meet you, Ashlyn.” His sexy, French accented voice made me want to swoon. “I’m Damien Dupont. And no, I do not have a special someone.”
Fascinating.
Harper hummed next to me, pretending to keep busy while shamelessly listening in and watching us out of the corner of her eye.
“Then how can I help you today?” I asked.
“I noticed your booth and am intrigued with your concept. My shop is in Paris, and we’re looking for something different, unique, for our growing business, and I think your products fit the bill perfectly.”
What was he saying? I heard the words, but they didn’t register.
My vision clouded and the world became fuzzy, it was like all the oxygen left my body. I must have been silent for far too long because Harper jabbed her elbow into my ribs, pulling me back to reality.
I shook my head and focused on Damien’s face. “Oh, wow. Tell me more about your store.”
“Our main focus is the wedding day. We’ve been working to branch out and add anything else our brides might need. Including lingerie.”
A smile crept across my face. “We certainly sell that.”
“I would love to buy a few of the items you have on hand to show my boss and make a follow-up appointment with you to discuss the possibility of a collaboration. That is, if you’re interested?”
“Interested? I would love to have that conversation with you. Do you have any days in mind?”
“Would next week on Tuesday work for you?” he asked, already going through my merchandise.
“Yes, Tuesday. That works.” I wanted to run up and down the aisle screaming and barely held myself back. Looking like an insane asylum escapee was not the impression I wanted to give right now.
“Let me help you, Mr. Dupont.” Harper jumped in.
“Damien, please.” He gave her a sexy smile before turning back to me. “Here is my business card, Ashlyn. Let’s connect before then. And on Tuesday I’ll bring additional information about our company and how I think we could benefit each other.”
Harper took his arm and led him to the most expensive pieces we had to sell.
Good girl.
Stella came back while Damien was still browsing, excited to tell me about what she’d learned. Her mouth snapped shut when I grabbed her arm and tried to discreetly point to him. “We have a potential business deal!” I quietly squealed.
“Are you kidding? That’s freakin’ amazing, Ash.”
“I want to hug you and act like a five-year-old who just got the best birthday present ever, but we need to look professional,” I whispered.
Stella nodded seriously.
As Damien paid for his purchases, I introduced him to Stella.
After he left, Stella and I excitedly made plans for our upcoming meeting. Harper even tossed in her two cents and seemed just as thrilled about our impending business venture. I was hoping to keep in touch with her after today. She was really cool and fit right in with Stella and me.
Throughout the rest of the day, I made plans to get as many designs done before next week as possible. I couldn’t believe how quickly my luck was turning around.
This was the beginning of something great.
I just knew it.
