Story: Ember Dragon
The meeting concluded with the support of "righteous people" represented by Cassius.
"Ember" and "Gray Eagle" had a cordial and friendly conversation, fully exchanging views and enhancing mutual understanding. Lord "Ember" expressed deep concern for the safety of the people of Northwind Fortress and was willing to provide humanitarian aid within his capacity. They agreed to carry out related activities at the second meeting of the Arcane Hermetic Society in a few months.
The spellcasters left one after another, either using teleportation items, walking on foot, or having prepared transportation in advance—like that levitating horse; the Horseshoes of Levitation hadn't been sold.
Stratholme is one of the most prosperous cities in Anzeta and the capital of the Duchy of Borsk, naturally bustling with people and vehicles. Occasionally, even non-human races appear on the streets.
The spellcasters didn't attract people's attention and quickly blended into the crowd, disappearing from sight.
After leaving the area of "Trafa Lanro's Magnificent Mansion," Cassius did not leave immediately but quietly waited in an alley of the city.
"Three, two, one."
He silently counted down.
The space in front of Cassius suddenly distorted, and a spatial rift appeared before him.
First, slender, fair legs appeared, followed by a body wrapped in a silver-white long dress.
The slit of the dress was very high, all the way up to the base of her thigh, and one could vaguely see magical tattoos on the smooth skin.
Seeing the expected visitor, Cassius showed a polite smile:
"Long time no see, Miss Starlight."
Olivia asked puzzled: "But we just met."
Cassius continued to smile, entering bard mode: "In my homeland, there's a poem that says, 'One day apart feels like three years.' Your beauty makes me..."
Hearing the compliment, Olivia's cheeks flushed slightly, but she quickly regained her composure and interrupted:
"Lord Ember, don't use these poems to distract me. I didn't come to listen to your sweet words. How did you discover my identity?"
Cassius pretended to be puzzled: "What identity are you referring to?"
"I mean the identity of a silver dragon."
Her tone had a hint of gritted teeth, but she still maintained basic decorum.
Cassius then answered as if suddenly realizing:
"Oh, you were referring to the identity of a silver dragon..."
"That's simple."
"Who wouldn't know the most outstanding member of the younger generation of the Melvod clan, the so-called 'Silver Starlight' Olivia?"
"She is someone who could cast 'Crown of Stars' in her youth and single-handedly thwart a Cult of the Dragon conspiracy."
He paused in his speech.
A look of surprise appeared on Olivia's pretty face. She had thought her polymorph spell had flaws but didn't expect that the other party knew her so well, not only knowing her real name and clan but even her deeds.
Cassius continued: "Besides, your demeanor and way of speaking are so much like a young, inexperienced silver dragon. You're not very good at hiding your thoughts."
"Who on earth are you?"
"How do you know these things?"
Olivia pressed on relentlessly with questions.
Cassius unhurriedly replied: "I have no obligation to answer you, Miss Olivia. You only need to know that my codename is 'Ember.'"
He changed the topic, a hint of teasing in his expression.
"Moreover... forgive me for saying, I may not be as good as you in magic, but I am far superior in disguising myself."
"You—"
Olivia lightly bit her lip.
She quickly realized that what the other party said was not wrong; members of the Arcane Hermetic Society were not obligated to reveal their true identities. But this feeling of being led by the nose made her feel a frustration she couldn't express.
Cassius smiled and said: "Miss Olivia, see you at the next Arcane Hermetic Society meeting."
After speaking, he lightly touched the pendant on his chest, activated Dimension Door, and, together with the "Iron Golem" behind him, stepped into the spatial rift.
"Wait..."
Olivia stood there, stomping her feet in anger, her face slightly flushed, watching as the spatial rift slowly closed.
But soon, she noticed some subtle issues, such as before he left, the back of "Ember's" neck faintly revealed golden scales.
She somewhat smugly muttered to herself:
"You're not so good at disguising either..."
"At least your Polymorph spell is full of flaws in my eyes, Ember—or should I say, Lord Gold Dragon."
She recalled how Ember had mentioned gold and silver dragons when rebutting "Gray Eagle" earlier, his antagonistic attitude towards evil forces, and the "unintentional" reveal of golden scales just now.
This silver dragon mage naturally thought she had discovered Lord "Ember's" true identity—a pure gold dragon.
She muttered softly:
"Arrogant, self-important, smart-aleck."
"I will definitely find out your name."
"Hmph... I'll go ask Grandfather; there shouldn't be many gold dragons in Anzeta; they don't like the environment here."
This silver dragon mage didn't have a good impression of gold dragons. In her memory, as the naturally strongest among metallic dragons, these gold dragons always looked down from above, looked down on people, attempted to be the leader of everything, and often took it upon themselves to "exercise justice."
And now, Olivia's stereotype of gold dragons deepened, adding negative labels like "smart-aleck" and "frivolous behavior."
However, Olivia didn't know that everything she saw was just what Cassius wanted her to see.
.........
Cassius stepped out of the Dimension Door, returning to his warm cave, eagerly releasing his constraints and reverting to his red dragon form.
Langpu followed closely, reverting to his large Draconic Bloodline Ogre form.
Cassius couldn't help but exhale a breath of sulfurous hot air:
"That silver dragon is quite easy to fool; it seems all her high intelligence is used in studying spells."
"Let's see if I can trick her into giving me her Crown of Stars."
Dealing with the good-aligned faction is indeed more comfortable; although conflicts of interest are unavoidable, at least the other party's actions won't involve deliberate scheming.
Langpu happily took out the 【Alchemy Compendium】 from the dimensional bag.
"Master, this is a great item! That human really didn't know its value; we've made a big profit."
This book can not only be used as a spellbook for several spells but also as a magical item, assisting in synchronizing magical energy.
Cassius said: "Since we spent gold coins, you should learn these spells. I'm very interested in Haste; show it to me as soon as possible."
Langpu quickly replied: "Yes, Master."
Sorcerers can learn spells, but they cannot learn through the runes on spell scrolls; they rely more on sensing the operation of the spell and then casting it based on intuition.
For players, the probability of successful learning in this way is minimal.
But at least Cassius has already learned "Wall of Fire" through Langpu's multiple demonstrations; after all, he is naturally suited to this kind of fire evocation spell.
